Default Trying again. BF this time.

A starter build for a BF. Greatsword user, dps with recon and repair spells and zeal. 15/3fighter/2monk sound about right?

I do okay on feats up to 15th level or so, but then I'm not so sure. I'm also confused about the follower of the blades feats: are they free or do BF buy them?

KOTC mostly. Some Kensai for damage with heavy blades and speed (damage boost?)

Help and ideas are appreciated. Thanks!

consider picking up extend for longer zeal instead of the follower feat (I'm not even sure the follower feat at 15 is a real option, it may be a character planner oversight)
I'd probably grab dodge or mental toughness instead of force of personality.

This is my first stab at the enhancements for this build.

I found lots that I liked from the BF tree and the KOTC build and didn't have much left for the other trees.

Do the extra actions boosts from Kensai apply to KOTC action boosts?
Is it better to get the haste boost or the damage boost from kensai and/or KOTC? Nice looking damage boost at top of BF tree, does this stack with damage and/or haste boosts?

Class boosts cannot be used at the same time, and share usage counters.

Racial actioboosts and class actionboosts can be used at the same time and have different usage counters.

You're better off getting hasteboost from the kensai tree as it costs 1ap per tier, and power of the forge from the bladeforged tree.

Ignore damage boost in the KOTC tree.

Clerics & paladins pick their Follower feat at lvl 1; they are then auto-granted the relevant deity feat at cleric or pal lvl 6 (Bladesworn, Unyielding Sovereignty, etc.). They can choose to take their deity's "Child of" & "Beloved of" feats as regular feats (were Enhancements pre-U19); although since these are only +1 to-hit & dmg w/deity weapon, they're a pretty low priority, IMHO. FvS are basically the same, except they get the Child & Beloved feats free at lvls 3 and 12, respectively.

I think you can only have one set of deity feats, even if you did some crazy pal/cleric/FvS multiclass build; but I've never tested it for myself.

Yes, Power of the Forge stacks w/Haste Boost, just as human Dmg Boost does; so yes, you definitely want it on a BF melee.

I would pick up max Haste Boost, PotF, and EAB. If you can spare 6 APs for KotC Dmg Boost, pick that up too; it won't stack with the other two, but it's still 8 more boosts you can use when the others run out. Or use KotC Dmg Boost by itself for easier fights so you can save Haste+PotF for tougher bosses.

Here's my toughs, i would swap fighter level with monk level and go pally15/monk3/fighter2. Why? cause F3 give you ****! while M3 give you earth stance and some nice damage potential with Fist of Iron and Sting of the Ninja. The only hic: you'll have to drop 2H sword and go staff or else to remain centered..
Can even go for more PRR (not a bad idea since you'll be wearing pajamas)
Feats look good, keep FoP, this will really boost your will saves.
Pick haste boost in Kensai, plus STR enhancement, i would drop the tier 5 KotC and put some AP in sacred defender for more defenses (again, you are wearing pajamas!!!)
With all your past life and gear and tomes... this guy will rock no matter what!

I'm planning a build like that, mine would be more DPS oriented and more defenses. Using 2H sword, lots of PRR, and pally defenses... no evasion, heavy armor (adamantine body) and tons of HP...
bonus: the look!!! bladeforged in adamantine body look so bad ass...

I was looking at the follower feats to get bladesworn transformation. Is this a good idea? (I had thought that paladins got on auto at 1 & 6 and would only need to spend 1 regular feat on bladesworn.)

Kensai STR is tier 3. Would need 3 fighter.

I might also do a life as a stick build, but that is in my other thread.

I LOVE evasion. However, I'm not sure that this current build has enough reflex save for it to be worth it yet.

I'll have to look at the two defense trees again. I keep running out of AP!!!

I LOVE evasion. However, I'm not sure that this current build has enough reflex save for it to be worth it yet.

I'll have to look at the two defense trees again. I keep running out of AP!!!
My bad for kensai 's STR...
About evasion.. this is why i drop it on my build, unless you can crank your reflexe save to 50 and up... evasion won't matter much and you're stuck in light or no armor (monk)
Ya AP are really tight, you need only 11 point in sacred defender to get the stance core ability... so it's not to bad... I'll use the pally def tree instead of fighter one... same bonuses but pally gives positive spell power...
BTW you get follower of Lord of Blade for free... and bladesworn transformation is THE reason i'm building mine as a bladeforged:

You are a devoted follower of the Lord of Blades, and your faith has been rewarded. Activate this ability to attempt to become a juggernaut of destruction for 24 seconds plus 6 seconds per cleric level.
While transformed, you have a +4 Profane bonus to Strength, +4 natural armor bonus to AC, a +4 profane bonus on damage rolls, +10 enhancement bonus to Will saves against mind affecting magic, and proficiency in all simple and martial weapons. Your base attack bonus equals your level. You lose your spellcasting ability. You have immunity to critical hits and sneak attacks, but cannot be healed by healing spells.

    Reflex save and evasion.

Planner shows 15 reflex at level 20. (all these numbers are above what planner already displays)
    +4 @ Level 28
+6 dex bonus with +11 to dex = 22 dex
    +8 item
+5 from +9 cha item for another (= even number now)
+2 from ship stat buffs (1 dex and 1 from cha)
+4 GH (have 3 clicks at 11 min each, so good unless a debuffer quest.)
    +2 luck item
    ------
    46
+4 parrying bracers with insight (if I can fit them, only seen them on one item.)
    -----
    50

Better dex, cha and resist items could raise it 1-4 more points and maybe a point or two more from somewhere on the ship, but either way, the reflex save is marginal at best. Might be worth keeping it as this is primarily a leveling build for past lives, loot and running with friends on the way to the ever elusive "final build". High 40s is likely helpful in EH, though probably not much good in EE. That sound about right?

Positive spell power isn't of much use on a Bladeforged. Splashing a bit in both the stalwart and sacred defender trees could be a nice way to increase your docent's Max Dex bonus (dodge is capped by max dex bonus) though if you're taking mithril or adamantine body. Not that useful for composite body, but great for anyone who's likes that big bulky warforged look

Regarding saves, 40+ reflex seems to be very useful on EH, On EE i've got a toon with a mid 60's reflex and that character fails most of his reflex saves in EEGH +

Also I have a sneaky feeling redoubt has me set to ignored

    No.
Bladesworn Transformation is utterly terrible as it makes you immune to healing.

He's a bladeforged, he'll be able to reconstruct himself, whilst transformed.

It's a pretty nifty ability now.

I don't have you ignored. You actually helped me fix some of the feats around bladesworn that led me to find that it is an autogrant and that it is in the planner, I just looked in the wrong place.

I might be able to get extend in now too... no requirement for weapon focus if I can't get into the 3rd tier of fighter anyway. Either that or drop brutal throw or force of personality.

On that point, does the planner recalc reflex save based on cha if you have that feat? I may have to run the math again, but outside the planner... hmmm....

Sorry I ever doubted you Ron... your program is the bomb!

On to the reflex save again
    8 - 16 pali levels
    1 - 3 fighter levels
2 - 2 monk levels (swapping to 3 monk /2 fighter is same total)
5 - cha mod in the planner
    1 - BF aura bonus
    1 - L1 Pali Aura
    ----
    15 as advertised....

If you invest some APs into Sacred D., you can get +3 saves from defensive stance and another +3 from Resistance Aura. You can boost Reflex further by twisting in Lithe (+6) and Unearthly Reactions (+6). That should put you within spitting distance of Reflex 70.

Not saying no, but how is the trade of in terms of dps to evasion saves for both the enhancements and twist slots?

I'd love to get into one of the defense trees, but I'm out of action points and still wanted more just in BF and KOTC... This is a good thing game wise that there are many things worth taking, but I'm still working out which combo will be best overall.
