Okay I've been rolling this toon around in my head for a few years, it seems like the enhancement pass might have made some sort of magical ninja build more viable and not purely flavor. That said Warning Flavor justifications mixed with min/maxing ahead.
By magical ninja I am speaking to the NES generation, 80's mystical ninja mythology... Shinobi, Ninja Gaiden, Legend of Kage, Shadow Dancer, an agile ridiculously survivable Weapon/Shuriken user that also sometimes stops puts hands together in some sort of pseudo prayer/lotus moment and calls a bunch of inexplicable Lightning bolts to destroy everything on screen.
Also there's the whole "hadouken" thing, which was a ninja pop culture thing before there ever was a Street Fighter 1... see old Kung fu movies and the 80's ninja mania. I rolled a Wizard/Monk magic missle SLA build around in my head for Hadouken goodness.
I've played around with several ideas including a mix of Monk and Wizard Arch mage but My current favorite idea involves Druid levels, for a couple of the games best SLA's and some surprisingly potent unexpected synergies. What twists and ED's would you use? What classes and splits and why? I mean you could concievably not even have Monk levels, the main thing is Agility/Survivable/sneaky Ninja themed weapon/Shuriken mixed with some viable spell nukes/utility magic
How would you do it? I am thinking 12/8 or 15/5 Monk/Druid.
