    Default Critique requested

    This is something I came up with on my lunch break at work. it will only be a 32point build. I want self healing and blade barrier but the toon uses dual WOP rapiers and GS rapiers. these are most likely obsolete. I went the 2 mnk for saves, 6 ranger for imp twf. tempest I at level 6 too? and then the 12 fvs for blade barrier self heals, buffs, saves. let me know what I could change for the better.

    I'm not an expert on these types of builds but a few concerns:

    1) with only 12 levels of FVS it seems pointless to take heighten (max 6th level spells) and spell pen (only 12 base caster levels), or to focus on an evadable spell that you can't get sufficient DCs on (a spell oriented FVS with 20 levels and SF, GSF, heighten, etc would still struggle to make it useful in epics)

    2) you lack the dexterity to get GTWF or Imp Precise shot, making the usefulness of your melee and ranged options questionable

    3) you are missing a feat listed at level 3

    4) missing great cleave and OC

    It seems to me like you have excessive focus on HP (2 toughness feats on a feat starved build). I personally consider almost all of your feats to be wasted:

    Spell pen, maximize, heighten - likely even these 3 won't make blade barrier useful for more than a few levels and you will lack the base levels and DCs to make heighten or spell pen useful (maximize is okay for DP)

    Toughness, toughness, WF: pierce, great con, great wis - none of these provide enough benefit IMO to waste a feat on. I might feel differently if any were a pre-req and if you were super focused on DC casting or stunning fist and needed the wisdom

    The auto-grants from ranger are nice, but you put so little focus on str/feats to make melee useful that I question if another 6 levels of something else would benefit you more (or... you could reallocate stats and spend feats to make these useful).

    You didn't list enhancements, which would tell us a lot more about your goals for the character. Sorry if this critique seems harsh.

    I would drop Chr to 8 ... 8+3tome+6 item > 16 so you can cast lvl 6 spells & the SPs probably wont help that much
    Increase dex to 14 so +3 tome gets 17 for GTWF
    Drop toughness x 2 get GTWF / Cleave / Gcleave / dodge / mobility / IPS / Something better
    Look into increasing STR to see if you can get to 21 for OC - if not more Wis for DC's if you want BB to work (this is a maybe on wis)
    Drop Spell Pen - those types of spells are a loosing proposition for these builds its very very very difficult to get enough to matter
    Drop Heighten same issue as spell pen (you probably wont be using many DC spells and BB is already at your max caster level)
    Get Quicken - you will really want it
    I would go for either more from first list or empower
    Drop epic skills - go for OC or pick from something better

    What I do not know ... can you take epic perfect 2WF without haveing G2WF?

    Thanks guys! this is what I needed to hear.

    Spell pen, max and heighten will be changed out.
    Cha will be dropped dex to 14. Str up too
    cleave, GC and Grtr twf will be picked up
    Quicken will be added too

    At a glance, I'd say you're spreading yourself too thin, for all the reasons the others discussed. I would suggest narrowing your focus to, e.g., melee+ranged+heals.

    TWF melee DPS (90% offhand, Divine Might, Smite Foe), Manyshot w/acid imbues, good healing (Emp Heal + Heal spell + Ameliorating Strikes), some light DPS from Divine Vessel + Divine Punishment (boosted by AoV). Your "blade barriers" are called "spamming Cleaves & Momentum Swing." I stuck w/pally dilly like your original build for +saves; not convinced it's worth it, TBH, but if nothing else higher CHA boosts STR via Divine Might.

    I agree with Unbongwah, it seems like you might be trying tot do a little too much.

    What's the point of 16 starting wisdom? With only 12 caster levels you aren't going to get useful DCs on any spell that has a saving throw, so the only thing that buys you is a couple more SPs from your ranger levels. You can still use offensive spells that don't have a save (divine punishment) or that are useful even if non-evasive enemies save (blade barrier), so don't think I'm saying you should give up on casting all together.

    To me, I would take points out of wisdom and maybe lower con to 14 and use those points to plus up your strength and charisma. With only 12 favored soul levels you aren't going to have a huge SP pool, so a few more points in cha wouldn't be a bad thing.

    I think from your original post that you stated your design goals are melee w/dual rapiers, blade barrier and heals. If that's the case I'd recommend dropping the 6 ranger levels and going 18 fvs/2 monk. You'd have to spend a feat on rapier prof. (not optimal, but far from game breaking) or switch to using scimitars or longswords, but it could be made to work.

    I hope this helps. If you're not happy with the advice we're giving I'd recommend you try to more clearly restate what your goals are for your character and then we can help you get there.

    Edit: ninja'd by Unbongwah. :-) That's good advice too. 12/6/2 would focus more on melee and ranged, 18/2 could be more caster focused.

    I was just debating with myself if zen archery was worth trying to get in ... but melee isn't centered anyway ..... but ....

    TWF melee DPS (90% offhand, Divine Might, Smite Foe), Manyshot w/acid imbues, good healing (Emp Heal + Heal spell + Ameliorating Strikes), some light DPS from Divine Vessel + Divine Punishment (boosted by AoV). Your "blade barriers" are called "spamming Cleaves & Momentum Swing." I stuck w/pally dilly like your original build for +saves; not convinced it's worth it, TBH, but if nothing else higher CHA boosts STR via Divine Might.

    A few comments I forgot to make about my build:
    • I specced her for scimitars, because Righteous & Wrathful Weapons only work with your deity's favored weapon and scimitars beat longswords (hence Undying Court instead of Sovereign Host). However, if you don't take the Righteous/Wrathful line, you can use any weapon you like, since AFAIK Smite Foe/Weakness/Ameliorating Strike work w/any melee weapon.
    • It's possible to take Imp Prec Shot if you start DEX 16 (+3 tome) by, say, dropping to CON 14 INT 9; I'd probably swap Maximize for IPS.
    • While I expect this build to be a good soloer, I think it would be particularly fun in groups, since Inflame is an AoE buff and Ameliorating Strikes is an AoE heal.
    • If I did a cleric-based version instead, I'd trade AoV for Radiant Servant; I might also drop the T5 WP enhs (Wrathful Weapons & Divine Vessel) for auras instead.
    • For EDs, I would start FotW, detour into Primal Avatar long enough to pick up Rejuv Cocoon, then jump back to FotW to max it out; make your way thru Shiradi to LD to pick up LW&MS.
