Yeah, that about sums up this event.
Closing early on top of the fail... combined with the signet not appearing in any inventory or bags but saying you got one... and cutting the end date so we can't get signets in time... and lets not forget three hour waits in between runs that fail anyway... well now thats just enough to make me angry...

This event is by far the worst seasonal event ever due to technical issues. The lag experienced in this event is not just crippling; it's destructive! Not only is it present in Delera's Graveyard, but also in the event itself! Due to this, the lag has caused many events to wipe because players can do nothing while the monsters hack and slash us and the altars to bits. And on top of that, we are not getting our keys refunded either!
Closing the event early for whatever reason is a bad move on your part. I can understand if you have to make a hotfix to make it playable, but otherwise, it's a bad idea. If anything, it should be EXTENDED due to the many wipes caused so players can try it again and hopefully get a instance without the destructive lag experienced. It's like saying, "Oh, we're having problems selling something because there's not enough demand, so we should just raise the price!" It just boggles my mind. And what about our ethereal keys? Are we going to ever get them back or get some sort of compensation for losing them? Or are they gone forever?
I really believe you should consider reopening the event as soon as you fix the lag and other issues that plague this event. I realize that things happen, and while I am upset that the lag is killing the fun in the event and inducing anger in the playerbase, it really gets to me that you're just gonna give up and close the event early for some odd reason.
Here's a riddle for you: What do you call people who play the game for only a day and apparently know everything?
Given the fact that Mabar didnt start until October 23 or 24th and your picture for mabar states October 17 through November 11th, I dont understand why yall dont see it coming back this year.... That is just wrong to do that to all of us who really enjoy the festival and enjoy this game. I see that is an unfair way to treat all of us expecially those of us who are on paid accounts. You should really consider doing something to show your appreciation for everyone who did put up with all of the issues during this event if you plan on not bringing Mabar back this year. Something other than crappy potions or cookies. My idea for something to give everyone is a cloak of night that is made for that characters level. I think that is fair, if not a +5 tome of the account holders choice not bound to character or account.
Characters of Riedra
Antha 16th level Wizard., Maldor 11th Level Rogue, Dourn 4th Level Barb. Riedra PWNS!
As stated in the title, I am not some who asks for compensation and I don't agree with the people who want compensation every time theres server maintenance, BUT this is an annual event that I myself and many others look forward too and to cut it short without even extending it to the weekend is extremely disappointing and irritating to say the least.
I really think some sort of compensation is necessary here(preferably extending Mabar) but something to the idea of an Endless Night Box that would include the following:+5 tome of your choosing, the illusion Spider and Jack O Lantern cosmedic headgear, along with your choice of Augment from the event, for each character created before 10/28/13.
I think whats more disappointing is knowing that Turbine is cutting this short due to the exploits that some players are doing with tomes/signets, and has absolutely nothing to do with the lag that some players are experiencing. It's a huge slap in the face to be a PAY TO PLAY customer (and I have been since this game was released) and to be punished for others exploits.
As I have seen and read many posts in the past by DEVs "Turbine Powered by our fans. " I would expect nothing less then a REALLY GOOD COMPENSATION or TO SEE THIS EVENT RUN THOUGH NOVEMBER 11TH
I have been tracking my Mabar runs this year in its own thread.
Yes, there is lag in some runs, but not all runs.
I actually had EIGHT successful runs in a row where I had no lag whatsoever. Peak times, not peak times, etc.
I do not think cosmetic companions cause a problem. Been on too many runs where they have been out and we experienced no lag whatsoever. I never have out a cosmetic companion.
I do not think pets cause a problem. Been on too many runs where they have been out and we experienced no lag whatsoever. I don't summon my skeleton pet on my pale masters while inside.
I do not think summoned monsters cause a problem. Been on too many runs where they have been out and we experienced no lag whatsoever. I summon monsters all the time. Elementals, Orthons, razor cats, Bakshira, etc.
I do not think most AoE spells cause a problem. Been on too many runs where they have been out and we experienced no lag whatsoever. I spam blade barriers and firewalls. Sometimes acid rain. I have radiant servant running constantly. I have never been on a successful Disco Ball run though. But others have. On my bards I refuse to do it for the just in case. But, I guarantee if we had a longer timeframe, I would throw my bards in for a sacrificial run once in awhile and throw down the disco balls. I just would not tell the party during the run though.
I do not think it matters what instance you are in. I have ran in i2049, i2050, and i2051 and we experienced no lag whatsoever. I will admit, I have only been in i2049 a couple of times since I started tracking that and I have to remember to do a /loc.
From what I have written down and seen from me and other players, there seems to be a small chance that your particular instance is going to be the sacrificial run.
Is there lag in Delera's? YES.
Is there lag in the RAID? Yes.
Do I get it all the time? No. I am going to go out on a limb and say I am probably at an 80% success rate where I do not experience lag. The Delera's Graveyard lag is even rarer, but it has happened to me.
I actually wish Mabar ended on Monday, November 4 at 10 AM EST because the shortened time span really messed up my plans of farming it.

Even with the silly excuse of "we are keeping the event open until October 21st for some players to still earn signets" (which I endeavored to achieve in spit of the server freeze up), there are players who still won't be able to earn signets before the event closes. When the year comes that DDO's mabar event is relatively playable, is the day that games are the new real life sports where we literally hack at each other in pvp taverns.
Thanks Dev's, for putting many of us a +5 tome behind the seemingly very few who managed to earn at least 3 signets.
I actually tried posting that last night, but my cap ran out while I was typing. Volund, post #104 in the following thread, expresses just how I perceive this "event":
1. Performance in the Summoning Chamber has been more-or-less manageable. Personally seen roughly 20% fail rate (at most) due to performance problems throughout the week. That's certainly good enough to justify continuing the event (in my mind).
2. The need to collect more motes. This is when my fighter needs to stock up on Death Ward and Restoration pots. It's the only time he can stock up on Death Ward and Restoration pots. While I'm good on signets, I'm not nearly there on the potions.
3. Does killing the event on Friday morning really matter vs. Monday morning?
Last night I'm running duo in VON 2 Elite everything is going well. Then just as we get to the Arcane Ooze fight crippling lag hits and when the lag subsides the Oozes refuse to drop from the trees.
We run around jumping and pew pew at the motionless oozes in the trees to no avail.
I submit a Ticket...GM says they will reset the Ooze but, the Ooze still won't drop.
long story short the quest was broken and was advanced by the Gm.
I took a look at the LFM panel during the time I was trying to activate the Oozes.
there were the usual Mabar Graveyard farming groups up. But when you hovered over the list it showed them in the Summoning Chamber.
for those who think Mabar is not effecting gameplay elsewhere in the game it sure is.
I do understand that a lot of people like the event, or at least the rewards. So I hope it'll be fixed soon, and come back for an extended period so everyone has a chance of getting those shinies. But please... not before it is actually fixed.

Given both Cove and Mabar for 2 years now are swamping your servers. Any chance you have the code devs watching what the engine is choking on to fix these issues or inform systems teams how to decrease them. Or no love for a 7 year old game with Batman's trying to launch?
Or is the problem they keep reducing how many servers DDO gets based on population and dont think to add a few to the queue system when they run these events?
I wish you luck in fixing the issues. I enjoy Mabar. The Lag does make it difficult. I didn't get a +5 tome, but there is always next year. I did complete at lvl 24 cloak so I did get something out if it this year so I am content.
I don't like that people that complain so much about the devs and the issues we all have with the game. If I felt that I had so many unmet needs, I would not play, instead of whine about them the entire time.
It's a game; games are a source of enjoyment. It doens't sound like some people are enjoying themselves...

So, how do we know the issues people report inside and out of Mabar really happen and are not implemented in our collective consciousness by them using said mind control mechanism?

Ok just blame all the lag on Mabar cause you don't run it. Explain to me the cause of the crippling lag the rest of the year? I remember being on Korthos and not being able to move for 20 minutes or so, and in house K when the lag crippled that place for a couple of days. Or maybe the one spot in citw where everyone lags every run? Please it's not just Mabar.
