Default My lag Experience at certain levels

Level 13 LAG on two runs, have ran five times. The two runs, one was a fail, but the other was lag success.

Level 16 on no runs, have ran five times. I even run it with summoned protectors and no problems.

Level 20 one run, MASSIVE LAG. Death due to lag. A sorceror cast Dancing Ball on altar, gargoyles spawned, LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG. This was the unable to move lag and inability to make a chat statement other than two minutes later it might appear.

From things i'm reading about lag here on the forums, i'm starting to believe that maybe the cause isn't to be found in the dragon fight itself. It could be something that is happening in another part of the game that shares the same instance.

I don't believe it is related to dancing balls, or summons. Probably not even related to the number of people in the dragon instance.

    It's related to Turbine incompetence.

I wonder as to the recipe for the lagfest. I'd not experienced a whit of lag in game ever till I tried running a higher level instance today and it was ridiculous. I thought something had happened to my computer until I realized this was what people had been bemoaning.

Default Level 14 first run and level 20 for the third time

Level 20, all massive, humongous, and utter fails. Last night at peak time, just as the dragon was about to begin, LAG fail.

No one could move. General Chat was one minute or longer delayed.

I think I give up running my level 20 in the 20-25 range.

Today, did a level 14, slight lag. SUCCESS and received a scale and a signet.

Level 18 monk in 15-19 instance. Run 5 times, 4 successes. Massive lag in 2 of the runs, the freezing, can't even jump in the air type of lag.

Strangely, the failure came on a run where there was no lag. Just a bad group on another altar. *shrug*

    Default Level 18 success but

Don't remember the exact time, probably around 3 PM EST

It was successful, I was on a lever with another player. We each summoned a monster.

LAG, we could not hit the switch when dragon was in, we just could not activate it.

I did activate it at other times, when I could get the game to react.

It was success though, just not much fun.

    Lag success = Lagged out?

I guess this means both runs were a fail?

So far, I've danced with the dragon 16 times on Khyber...

13 successes (mostly in the 15-19 level) and 3 fails (all due to lag, during peak US Eastern time)

Most of the instances included some kind of lag (to various degrees)

    I don't know what's going on...

Default Level 16, at 11:30 AM EST

    Entered Delera's as a 12 - 17 range

    On my level 16 character.

I was on the lever. I did firewalls. I summoned a Monster Summon VII Huge Earth Elemental.

Seemed to be a full group.

    ZERO LAG.

Dragon did SE room, NW room, SE room, NW room, and finally, the SW room. NE altar had zero action. I was on SW lever.

Not clear, but I meant even though I had some lag, it ended in success.

Default Level 19 BARD LAG Fail

Went on a level 19 bard. 1:50 PM EST. i2050

    LAG FAIL.

Could have been me. I was on a lever, and I summoned a monster. I have done that before on other characters with no problem. I was not worried about summoning.

    BUT!!!!

I sang bard songs. I had the floaty notes. Since I never went in on my bard before I have no idea if floaty notes are bad. Next time, no floaty notes.

I did NOT SUMMON ANY DISCO BALLS.

After a recent run (which was miraculously successful), for a good minute I was constantly surprised that pressing keys and hotbars makes my character do stuff, and that typing in chat results in messages being sent quickly. It was sort of that light feeling after getting out of water.

And the conversation I had in the run was probably about this crazy.

Default Level 18 and level 19 sucess

    8:30 PM EST

    i2050

Bard and Wizard. My Bard did not put floaty notes on, but another bard did.

My wizard spammed firewalls and both had summoned monsters.

    neither had lag.

Dragon slain in under one minute.

Default Level 23 Success, NO LAG and everyone had dismissed their cosmetic pets...

The location was also the sometimes problematic one too.

    You are at: r1 lx1944 ly64 i2049 cInside ox79.53 oy-30.33 oz-114.43 h52.0

I suggest everyone lose dismiss their pets for this..Lets get some more feedback..

I had been in several where the pets were present and they all lagged.

The only other time I’ve experienced lag was when casting a lot of persistant aoe such as fogs and discoballs (in solo dungeon), or shroud part 1 when there is a lot of DPS on the portal and later when the shield to part 2 drops (most likely where it loads the rest of the map). You generally won’t experience the lag outside of Mabar due to 12 player cap raids being the most people in 1 area (Mabar is far greater at cap which looks to be around 30). You can’t cast in shared zones.

The Mabar lag is related to the amount of stuff in your particular dungeon. Ie: Number of people, number of pets, number of discoballs etc. Has nothing to do with the level range although some ranges will have less people. If you log in at peak time and miss the first dungeon in your level range, you will enter a dungeon with less lag simply because there is less stuff in it. However you are then faced with the issue of not enough people.

As such holding off on AOEs such as discoballs, dismissing pets/summons, only using lever when dragon is in the room (to reduce gargoyles) will help reduce the amount of stuff in your dungeon (instance). While 1 may not make a difference on its own, an instance with max players with multiple summons and discoballs, everyone holding off WILL make a difference. The idea is to keep the number of objects minimal.

The root problem lies in that, too many people in the same area and probably dodgy coding where everything in the dungeon needs to be loaded at the same time or something. The current format requires as many people as possible but the coding simply can’t handle it. I would recommend a smaller dungeon with say 3 altars/levers (18 people max) in a triangle format or 2 altars/levers (12 people max) where it would just bounce between. This way less people would be required eliminating most of the “not enough people” fails and remove all the “lag” fails.

I have to agree. I have experienced latency where I could not move at all inside the graveyard and no dragon instance was up. I have had every manner of dragon instance from full-on pets and AoEs with no lag to everyone demanding no pets and AoEs but we have full-stop lag and fail. If it was pets and AoEs it would happen in every single instance.

3 dragons over the past 3 days, all on ghallanda, level 20-25 dragon. No lag even for a second in any instance, all three succeeded within two minutes or so of summoning.
