That is just simply not fair.

Look, I may not agree with Geoff's assertion that victory has been had - but I also don't think that his optimism means he is in Turbine's pocket. And I think it cheapens any argument against Turbine to stoop to that level of accusation.

I know hes probably not a Turbine spy, I used to watch him on the ddocast, But intentionally or not he is minimizing the importance of this issue.

Geoff, if you are calling it a "victory," then it is your opinion that Turbine has sufficiently answered the player community's concerns? You are completely happy with the outcome? Okay to stand down the protest?

Again, I am pleased that they have engaged us. Yet, sad that it has had to come to this to get their attention. And, I do not feel that Turbine has completely answered the player community in a fashion that is satisfactory to the majority.

So, I will continue to stand on the bridge.

Geoff is not minimizing anything. He's providing some perspective in a calm and rational manner with a heaping dose of optimism as he usually does. If you're upset about the lack of teeth gnashing and mouth foaming, you've much to learn in regard to diplomatic negotiation in general and Geoff's approach to it in specific.

While I don't think Memnir need my defense, I have read enouigh of his posts over the years to know he is neither paid by or in Turbines back pocket.

I do know that both geoffhanna and Memnir have written many posts on these forms that have been critical of Turbine.

If that is your best contribution to these forums, then you are better off not even posting.

The way this whole process is going with regards to the new TR systems, make me think of a braging process between a Union and the Employer: Boths sides start out at an extreme position, and eventually meet in the middle. Which is where this willeventually end up wether you, me or anyone else on these forums like it.

When the smoke settles there will be some players that like it, some that don't, but I think a vast majority will shrug it off and continue on with this game, because for those of us who enjoy DnD, this is the closest that an online game comes to it.

As for my feeling on the 'COV's' being BTA or BTC, at first I felt it should be BTA, but as I spend some time thinking about it, I think its better if it stays BTC. As it is suppose to be some type of game currency, then it shouldn't be in our inventory, but shouls display like the other currency items like Plat and AS. I think if you make them BTA it becomse an easy button as some one can just use there best character to farm the COV's, and easily run up an alt and TR them.

As it stands now, a 2nd life is much easier then a first life, when you consider you get to keep all eaten tomes, and all you equipment.

We have had Victories in these battles although, I agree the battle is not over.

Lets not focus on arguing amongst each other .

I don't think being an easy button is really the issue. If you level all the way to 20 you should be able to grind for your TR along the way. If they remain BTC, in the current proposal, You will need to level to 20 and then grind to level 25 or so before you can even TR. Lots of people make silly, experimental builds for their TRs and completionists don't have the inventory for epic gear of each class. Most of the sagas you cannot even play at level 20. There are lots of problems with BTC as the system is currently proposed. If we had a way to collect comms on our way to 20 I would agree BTC would be fine.

And by the same point I can say you are blowing it out of proportion by an over blow sense of entitlement.

Perhaps, but the topic is important to me and I hate to see this game I love get destroyed. When DDO shuts down I'm afraid it will be the last we ever see of a 3.5 based MMO, regardless of how far we have strayed from it. I am entitled to my opinion.

Aren't all these arguments simply due to limitations of the English language?

Geoff has declared "victory" then says "we are winning". Obviously, if we had victory we wouldn't be winning, we would have already won. Geoff really means we have won "A victory". The posters bashing him are saying that the victory is pretty durn small and no where close to "victory". Rather than restate the obviously inaccurate claim of victory, Geoff should clarify he means "a victory".

(Note: if Geoff really means to imply we have total victory, then he's seriously clueless, but I'm sure that's not the case)

I understand the pride of some of the people that were and (some of them) still are on the bridge. However what we had in response is only some very vague words and some more time to farm tokens. I honestly wouldn't call it a Victory...

Valid point. I do agree that there needs to be a viable way to acquire COV's before level 20.

Maybe instead of having COV's take up an inventory space, maybe they should be tracked like other currency in the game.

Whether or not turbine payed someone off is something I am curious about. It was not my intention for it to be an attack. I look at things mostly from a coldly logical point of view, or at least I try to, and when there is something I am curious about I ask. When I ask I try to give a reason for why I might ask that question. That was the purpose of my post. I realize that it had a snowball's chance in hell of actually being answered, but getting an answer without asking has even less of a chance, so I ask anyway.

The other reason I asked my question is because, assuming turbine wants to quiet our protest, it would make sense for them to try. I expect turbine (or any large impersonal company) to do such things. It is them I firmly believe to be unethical inherintly. I would not consider it unethical for him to help them intentionally, indeed, I would likely view it as him doing what he needs to to get by. I still wouldn't agree with him, but this leads back to my curiosity far more than an attack.

As I said, attacking his character was not my intention, though I can see how it would be interpreted as such. So I will offer my apologies if Geoff found offense with my post. I am still curious though.
