While I think that much I've read this weekend is a premature criticism of Turbine, I also feel that it was right of the player community to express their unhappiness as what was seen as an unjust change of the way in which players could earn druidic true hearts of wood. I think it's important to note that Turbine may have been seeing very little profit in a TR system where most players were earning tokens which they exchanged for hearts. But to just change things without any real discussion with the game community strikes me as shoddy. And I'm pretty much shocked to see no response to the player outcry from Turbine--and they must have had some idea this weekend of how bad things were--and it's 3:00 in Boston and I assume that the work day at Turbine is rapidly drawing to a close. Why no response?

This is not just about the amount of grind. This is about invalidating a substantial part of the purchase value of existing content (the ability to grind tokens), which creates buyer's regret. It's about BTC versus BTA. It's about first having a choice about quests to run, and then being pushed into running sets of quests that may contain multiple quests that are not enjoyable.
Attempts to narrow the issues down to just a conversion rate for ingredients miss the larger point.
Seriously, this is strike three just from the last month or so. First, the ED XP wipe was such a bad idea that it should have never gone up on the chalk board in their office. Second, the "expansion" that I bought didn't offer ANYTHING worth the cost. Third, the removal of TR Hearts being purchased with Epic Tokens is yet another tinkering with system that works (and actually funds the company with other purchases) while also making THE MOST EXPENSIVE pack that's not a expansion in the game completely obsolete.
And, to Glin, if you're actually reading:
From the player's perspective, HOW ON EARTH would you expect for us to understand this properly considering how this information was construed to us?!!
Please - hold open dialogues with your player community, and help avoid these misunderstandings!! You might not like hearing it, but: the fault of any misunderstandings that the player community holds lies at the feet of your team.

I suggest that anyone who want to personally explain how this affects you do it there. (In 140 characters or less) I don't think he reads the forums much, mainly depending on reports from Tolero or Cordovan.

Someone want to volunteer to monitor Twitter, and provide a post here on the forums with a compilation of Dev Twitter responses?

I spent about 30 minutes reading through various threads on the change to tokens/hearts of wood and as a brief summary I'd just like to say if the change has been understood correctly then I don't like it.
I'm about 18 months into this game and at one point thought I would be around for many years to come but I can't understand why developers keep creating reasons for me to look somewhere else to find my entertainment.
Why is it so hard to give people what they want, without the headaches, frustrations and mindless changes to existing proven content? I really don't get it.
I became VIP after a few months and don't mind paying to play for a game I like, but this game just goes out of its way to make me feel like I'm being screwed even after buying a subscription. Why isn't there a monthly includes everything price? W-T-F? (*Don't tell me I can just buy the expansion - that's another topic) The VIP was sold to me as that - but then MOTU came just after I signed up... okay I bought that one, still haven't played it because I haven't gotten to it yet. I haven't bought other "expansions" because I haven't needed them yet, but I can't tell you how F'ing frustrating it is to do 2 quests in Whelon, or whatever it's called, and then can't do the third one because I don't own the expansion. W-T-F?
I'm used to earning hearts of wood in the game, I'm not about to start paying an exorbitant TP price for them now. I haven't run many of the Epic quests that make up the Sagas yet so I'm not sure what to make of that but it sounds pretty ridiculous as described. I'm happy playing the content of the game I like, which at this point has been primarily Eberron. Why not make more content for heroic Eberron? Does that make too much sense - giving people more of what they want? I guess so.
Anyway, sorry for my rant, I don't usually join in the rioting but I'm getting frustrated with the changes to the game. You know Turbine, if you keep giving me reasons to find another MMO to play I'm eventually going to find another one; sooner rather than later. Take the tokens away, I will probably stop TRing... but that doesn't mean I'll play Epics if I don't like them, especially if there aren't enough PUGS to keep me busy.
Fix the existing BUGS:
And another thing, as stupid as it is, when I first ran Sands I collected these stupid things that are supposed to be traded in to a guy in the village for some (worthless) weapons or equipment. I tried to trade them in and got ripped off - got nothing at all. I was confused and filled out my first support ticket - got an answer several days later that just said (paraphrasing) "Yeah, that doesn't work, it's a know bug". No mention of fixing it, no compensation, not even an apology or a weak offer to try to help.
I didn't need whatever I didn't get, but the terrible customer service attitude left its mark. I do get good support help sometimes, but overwhelmingly my experience with Turbine has been negative.
That is all.
Really, I'm done.
Nothing more to see here...
ONE saga is too many sagas. There is no conceivable way in which I could be less interested in your stupid sagas while still possessing higher brain function. I'm glad for the people who enjoy them, and/or pick up extra goodies for running content they would have run anyway, but I don't see why I should be forced to run a completely arbitrary muddle of quests that I otherwise wouldn't have touched on a bet, merely in order to TR. TR'ing is the only thing I still enjoy doing, because I can fit it into my messed-up playing times. For everyone who WANTS to run sagas in order to get their true hearts - and, you know, that's fine - they should just track the saga completions and AWARD THEM A TRUE HEART after 3 completions, or 5, or whatever. Scrub the idiotic new "currency", we don't need another one. Leave the token mechanic as it is. Then we're all happy.
I'm a snuggly, fluffy, cuddly-wuddly little rabbit.
And if you call me a gamer grrrrl, I will reach down your throat, rip out your pancreas and feed it to my Rottweiler.
I am just completely out of energy for you Turbine, you and DDO. I have many projects in the game that I love, which you have systematically killed off with repeated changes to beloved aspects ranging to every damn detail in the game. I have constantly looked forward to exploring all corners of this game, but most of my progress is shattered away by thoughtless changes. I'm on an ever changing scale of power that is consistently blocking any hope I have of obtaining all my goals and seeing all aspects of this game I have purchased every pack and expansion for.
I'd love to get help from fellow players, my guild, but again, your constant barrage against the comfort and experience of your players has made my game all but barren of other players. 3 of my guilds have died, the one I'm in now is another new wasteland. PUG's have long been broken and are RARELY ever a fun time, or even possible on some servers sometime of the day.
In short, you have completely destroyed all of my goals in this game, ruined them before completion so that all of my hard work and time that I had to put into this game has become invalid. I am far from a super pro, or a professional veteran, I have been a part of this game since 2009. I cannot carry myself, despite how much I may want too, because quests continue to be designed for a party I have no chance of ever obtaining thanks to the sinking popularity of your game. And all efforts of mine to continue through and gather my gear solo are thwarted by your constant nerfing of my projects.
I have nowhere to go, no hope to get there, and am just about as drained, void of expectations, and burnt out on hurtful changes that I can get. Every major announcement sent my way from your "producers" and "developers" are nothing but a depressing tax on my moral. I'm not one to cry doom, but I have tried as often as I can to explain and express how hurt this customer has been with every little step in the wrong direction.
You are lucky to have such a devoted player base, who are willing to try and work with you and craft changes to a less painful experience. But bit by bit you have been working away at this devoted player base. Make no mistake, it is small, and you are reaching a breaking point for some of the most die hard fans. The truly devoted ones, however, will always be here until the ship sinks. But ask yourself, would settling down to the end of your days with a beloved partner be meaningful in anyway if 1.)That partner cut any ties with the past that brought you fondness. 2.)That partner seemed to abuse you, rather than being able to reminiscence about old times, right to the very bitter end.
Mr.Tired of it all.
- Pretty easy, really - talk to the guy, see where you are.
- No (see below).
I don't currently bother with sagas, because they don't really add anything for me or enhance my gameplay in any way. I've not bought the latest pack (although I have the other FR stuff), mainly because it just doesn't look that good, and the reports I've heard from friends who did shell out are not encouraging. I think I probably started various sagas when they first came out, to check them out, but I have no idea where I am with any of them. Playing scavenger hunt with quests doesn't appeal, I'm afraid - I'd rather run the quests I actually enjoy and keep the necessary grind (where grind == running stuff I need to but don't particularly care about) to a minimum.
If the only way to achieve TRs without massive grind in future is to shell out a bunch of TPs, I doubt I'll be playing much. I enjoy (heroic) TRs, and they compromise a lot of what I spend my time doing. Please leave the current epic token purchase method along, at least for true hearts.
