I hate the boring, bland Forgotten Realms snoozefest setting. (QUICK! name 5 Eveningstar NPCs with some personality and memorable backgrounds, besides "Gandalf Clone" and the "ever-loved" Anna.) Being *forced* to quest there is a deal-breaker with my interest in DDO/Turbine (and I've supported them since 2006 with my money and time).
Turbine destroyed the once-excellent Lord of the Rings Online MMO with this kind of "Asian-MMO Grindfest" mentality FOR maximum profits, and it looks like it is time for DDO to fall in line with the "Rated G for Grind" stance that WB supports/orders.
It's too bad that 2 of my favorite franchises are held hostage to this kind of company, but there are other options coming:
(Not till 2015, but a very interesting D&D 3.5-variant rules MMO that will be SANDBOX based, like Eve, not Theme-park based)
