Default Best overall GS Staff for Thief Acrobat

I want to make a GS Staff so I can use thief acrobat in several TR lives. It wont be for high end content mainly lvls 12-20 and maybe a little above. I don't understand a lot of the GS terminology other then triple positive lol so please use simple to easy terms and the 3 basic effects it will have =)

Make a radiance gs. It applyes a rly great debuff on you enemies. There are two options, one that gives you +4 insightfull ac (very handy while leveling) or the other that gives a bit more dps.

With limited DR breaking choices in quarterstaves and the way keen is applied after the acrobat crit threat range expansion my vote as a general all around helpful stick goes to MinII

Lit II has an avg of <7 per hit more than a min II.
Min II offers keen (impact on a staff) and metalline - so it breaks most DR's.

7 dmg or impact+metalline is what it boils down to.

Triple positive, if you're only making one.

Does the Keen on the Min2 stack with my crit bonus from Staff Spec in rogue acrobat tree?

    Yes.
I think that staff spec works FIRST, meaning you get 2* whatever it normally gives you. (Don't hold me to it though)

If you're planning to make exactly one greensteel Staff, I suggest Triple Positive, as this is a very good undead beater, even in higher levels.

I wouldn't advise to make a Rad2, as the blinding effect only procs on crits, and even with Staff Specialization, only 20% of your hits are crits.

Lit2 is a decent choice for a generic DPS staff, but unless my spreadsheet-fu is failing me, there are some staves which can outperform a Lit2 given enough Str/Dex/extra damage, thanks to Staff Specialization, namely the Theurgic Stave from Threnal. If anyone is interested, I can post the math to that.

get triple pos, so u have an undead beater for rest of lives, it's not like the dps difference from maul to qstaff is gonna kill you

and again the stave lol the op asked for a gs

when mob isn't an undead, neg lvl it, it's the biggest dps XD : disruption ofr undead, neg lvl for rest = no need for dr nor dps

op: rad2 is useful only with high crit range weapons, lit2 is great if you don't have anything and min2 is the lazy weapon, good if you don't have different options, awful if u can get more variety(not hard to craft silver+holy, etc etc)
psykopeta - hoarding pl, for the sake of hoarding, the day i become ubercompletionist will be because there isn't anything to delay it more - thelanis, where the gimps claim to be pros and noobs claim to be pros, no newbies allowed(unless they claim to be pros), we have enough drama w/o them. PS i'm not a pro, maybe if i reincarnate in RL...

Lit II is the way to go imo.

Min II: Keen/Impact doesnt stack with Improved Critical: Bludgeon, which you will most likely take as soon as possible if you know anything about building toons. Metalline does make you break all metal DRs BUT just how many mobs at lvls 12 - 20 require a DR breaker other than Good ? Not many (Im assuming you'r not gonna be raiding with this toon).

Triple Pos: It indeed is a decent Undead Beater, but Lit II is only slightly worse at it, and you definitely benefit more from Lit II if you are fighting something other than undead. Also, vast majority of quests with undead is at the lower levels. Im not saying that there are no undead quests at lvls 12 - 20, but there's definitely a lot more at lower levels, at which you can't equip your GS.

Not every build can get IC: [weapon type] asap. My battle cleric had to get it at 21, due to the dozen other feats it needed, hence why I used a min II.

Triple pos is much better versus undead than a lit II.
Triple pos gets 9d6 dmg+weapon dmg+30% heal amp+(and instakill on a roll of 20 against 90% of heroic undead, or an average of +5 dmg per hit on that 10%). Lit II gets 3d6+9.15+weapon damage+1 from lightning blast.

So.. that amounts to (9+54)/2+5 versus (3+18)/2+9.15
37 dmg versus 20 dmg. (With some rounding, because decimals are annoying)

    Couple responses to posts

    1. Dr breaking with q stick. Not as easy as jut crafting up a with any other dr breaker weapon. Basically your only option to get a metal type(other than steel) on a non named stick is deleras tomb end rewards.

    ----
Keen doesn't stack with IC blunt , correct but keen does stack different with acrobat crit range.
Acrobat crit range adds to the base THEN keen is applied. So instead of swinging a 18-20 you are swinging a 17-20. With a minII.

Check out the Big F'N stick thread, there's some nice advice in there about DR breaking. Namely, you can buy from the Turbine store "Blessed Cold Iron" and "Blessed Silver" staves, disjunct them and then craft on them. Say Axiomatic (blessed cold iron) of Greater Chaotic Outsider Bane. Or Holy (burst) (blessed silver) of Greater Evil Outsider Bane.

I've got a mess of different blanks I've farmed from Delera's, but my two habitual stick users both invested in store blanks for the basis of their DR-breakers.
Ghallanda - now with fewer alts and more ghostbane

Ahh yes the store option. I had forgotten about the store sticks.
I dislike purchasing much of anything from the store and have a special blinder to rewarding turbine for a mistake/problem they have with their programming/loot tables.

But yes that is an option. Spending money for 2 or 3 different sticks in the store to craft as dr beakers is there.
    -------
Still seems a better option to me to just craft a minII to as a generic beater. That you know will work on just about anything.

Don't get me wrong I wouldn't cry about a LitII either , nothing bad about the best damage greensteel around.
But if I had to choose a minII would be my stick. For any other weapon type I'd go LitII but for a qstick , personally MinII. Cause I'm all about lazy generic beaters.
    -----

The other way I look at it for 12-20 heroic is there anything your really need to lightning strike to kill fast? A 650 LS is sweet but in heroic meh what's it doing for you other than occasionally getting a luck first hit with it that one shots. Other than that stuff doesn't really last long enough.

Maybe elite orthons in Amarath? But an upgraded woowoo(dreamspitter) is probably the better choice there.

Generally speaking, I use a Pos3, upgrade/unsupressed Dreamspitter, a Shadow Staff (think I have Bloody and Petrifying) and greater banes. Two are the crafted store sticks, then one aligned (adamantine) of GCB, a Shock (festival frost) of Greater Dragon Bane. I have a Holy (byshek) Greater Aberration Bane - but I rarely use it.

Lowbie-wise I use an Everbright (flametouched iron) of Bleed, +1 (flametouched) of Greater Incorporeal Bane, a Screaming (flametouched) Bleed and an Acid (festival frost) of Lacerating. Forget the ML on the last one.

I've got various other named ones, but those are the ones I keep coming back to.
