I understand why they moved the button, but just like advertisements that use bright colors or years of playing DDO with just a loot button or most people are right handed, etc its all the same reason why the re-roll button is above the loot all button. would have made more sense if it was below it. I dont need to get perspective when this is how companies do things to get people to take notice.

also, we are taught that we do things from top to bottom. we read books at the top and work our way down. we dust from up high first. instinct and memory tells you to start at the top and work your way down which is why the re-roll button is above the loot all button.

    5. They should have moved it ABOVE the loot and leave the Loot All button BELOW (as it was before U19)
    6. They should add an option in UI setting to not show that button at all.

    Just another not happy customer.
    Exactly. Brilliantly said.

    Default Training

Well, their previous dishonest lack of a confirmation button has trained me to move my mouse pointer away from the loot box, the second I open a chest.

So now it makes less difference where the loot button is, I have to come back to it. Still, it's crass to place "reroll" loot right above, in shiny blue lettering, my loot button. I'm sure I'll train myself not to see it soon.

Such a blatant, disrespectful cash grab.

Confirmation window or not, this is just rude and shows how little they think of their customers.
Oh come now, it's entirely possible they just can't program their way out of a paper bag and the button move was a total mistake!

Or at least that's what I tell my guildies all the time, when bugs keep popping back into builds!

    No cash grab.

Oddly, you can avoid hitting the button each and every time you open the chest and it might take you TWO SECONDS. Yes, a whole two seconds.

It is called, reading. Another thing you can do, but might take you thirty seconds, is a 'Loot All' keybind. But again, you would have to read to accomplish that.

But your post almost does have something right, it does show how little the customers think.

how many times have you accidentally hit the re-roll button? I was able to avoid it before this change, but now ive hit the button by accident about a dozen times. you know how annoying it is to see that confirmation box all the time and having to click no? it was intentionally put above the loot all button because its another marketing ploy used by companies knowing that we learn from the beginning in life that we do everything from top to bottom. so its natural to instinctively hit that re-roll button for the same reason why it was on the right hand side. the only thing we do from the bottom up in life is build. im not building anything when I loot a chest.

Actually, as anyone who only dabbled with human psychology, sales or marketing will tell you, the way the human mind works if given multiple choices most people will choose the last option.

Also, instinctively we are pre-programmed to skim an entire situation or event before zeroing on a single opportunity. We'd be generally acting like you suggest we - as a species - wouldn't have been able to survive since we'd instantly zeroed in on the first wildebeest without even as much as continuing to scan for dangerous predators which might be out and about to eat us.

You might have had a leg to stand on here if arguing it should not be on the right side (which would put it as last choice for all westerners), but putting it on the top puts it in first place. You also cannot have it both ways by arguing if it is in the first position (top) or last position (right) we will instinctively be driven to click it.

Now, you can exploit this instinctive behavior in marketing by using different colors and shapes to make a specific choices stand out more. Finally, clustering buttons together in one area instead of spreading them out all over the place is not an unusual principle either - you have any doubts look at your (or your parents) cellphone and remote control. Consider that if only two buttons close to another throw you, how do you ever hope to master any of these other devices?

That leaves Turbine choosing to move the buttons around the first place. It's not like that they needed take some action when looking at the German and French versions of the game:

when you go shopping, do you look for the no brand stuff on the bottom shelf or the more expensive brand at eye level?

Well, I don't know about you but I am tall enough to actually need to look down to study the bottom shelf. I tend to keep my monitor at eye level, however.

when you notice things you see them from the top and not the bottom. people don't normally look down to look at something, they start at the top and eye level first. in the case of the loot when you click on the chest, people normally look at what they got and start at the top and read down. a lot of things in life is set up intentionally for people to take notice of things companies want you to see and not what you want to see.

It depends on what I'm buying, such as Miracle Whip or Mayo, or pasta sauces, the former, I can look at the bottom shelf and get the no name brand, because they aren't much different, the pasta sauce, not so much. However, when I'm grocery shopping, or looting a chest, I still look to see what I'm buying/pushing. How many times have you come home from the grocery store with horseradish instead of mayo, even if the management rearranged the shelves?
