All the old raids are still here, all of them have no less fun factor, all of them could be played through at lvl if the raid community was not a bunch of big ******* who only want to run raids on completed characters to reduce any and all risk factor from the run. Its this simple truth of the DDO raid community that gives away the lies of many here claiming they want both challenge and new content. They want new content, but content directed explicitly at their very small portion of the community.
Raids get run by maybe 5% of the total player base. Raids have in the past clearly been huge chunks of dev energy during content releases. This latest expansions only real flaw is being locked over in the realms, thus forcing those who didnt jump on the realms bandwagon with MOTU to either finally do it, or walk away at least until another eberoni expansion is added. I personally did not yet as I am doing TRing atm so more cap ranged content just is not a priority purchase for now. This is largely due to as always trying to bring more RL friends to this bloody game, and trying to keep them playing long enough to reach the realms. As of now to date only one friend of all the PnP players I know has stuck with DDO long enough to see FR content. And they as of yet are still barely dabbling in the underdark.
Personally I think if the quests and access to eveningstar village itself was added to FTP it might tempt more to want to buy into FR if they have not yet.
I suspect this is why EGH was abit more popular, pretty much EVERYONE already had the content payed for and got to feel almost like a free upgrade to it. This made players feel like turbine was rewarding them on some level. Likewise for those who didnt buy it yet, being now heroic and epic in lvl range was a real strong selling point to make them reconsider buying it if they had not yet.
