    Bug report it.

But also compare it against summon monster 4 via scrolls.

Turret is classed as a summon, you can't have two summons out at one time.

'Cept that if you just cast turret you can recast it again - as with all summons it just replaces the old summon......so the OP's point still stands - there shouldn't be a 4min timer on the turret spell based upon use of the clicky.

1st - yes, of course can only have one summons at a time.
2nd - post is about the 240 second cooldown - which is a bug.
3rd - have reported prior to posting. Post was just a FYI and feeler to see if anyone else had heard about this.
4th - Summon Monster IV - ok so popped into the Portable hole and got a couple of scrolls - stepped into searing heights and yep - 240 second cooldown; however the Shard of Xoriat doesn't have the same effect. Will try now with another level summon monster; so zapped to the marketplace and bought summon monster II and stepped into the subterrane to try it out (swapped out the ioun stone for the Shard of Xoriat and pop went a Beholder - that didn't affect the timer); then summoned a fiendish bat via scroll - and the timer went to 120 seconds. Great now - will try with a higher level summon monster scroll. Great.

Back to the portable hole - and the vendors saw me coming and jacked the prices up. ;p

Back to searing heights - going to step back into searing heights. Tried a summon monster VII - and failed the UMD - but the timer went to 300 seconds. Now here's the next wonky thing - the timer on the ALL summon monster scrolls that now cluttered my backpack also went to 300 seconds. Trying again to check. While waiting for 300 second timer - tried using Shard of Xoriat (which wasn't on cooldown) to see if it cleared the summon monster cooldown. It didn't. Repeated and same 300 second timer.

Ah I get it now, misunderstood your issue you're getting the xoriat timer on turret when you use the trinket.

yep - using any summon monster spell puts the turret (and all summon monster scrolls) on a long timer - seems to be what 20-30 seconds per spell level.
