    Default Build Request: Halfling Paladin

To be more specific: a post-19, Halfling paladin who can solo. In parties I prefer DPS, but willing to tank if that's what works in the build. Still on her first life, at level 16, but I need to LR to take a religious feat.

    Thanks!

Did you want to stay pure pally or were you open to MCing? What do you have to work with, in terms of build pts, P2P classes, tomes, THF vs TWF, etc.?

Excellent questions. I meant to mention that I have 32 build points. I've used +2 Str and Cha tomes. I'm not always VIP, so I should stick to F2P classes.

As for multiclassing: I want to "feel" like a paladin, so I'd like mostly paladin levels, and I'd much prefer heavy armor to evasion. A handful of fighter levels would be okay, but no more than a splash of anything else.

As for weapons: I think sword-and-board holds the most novelty for me, but I've got a cool falchion too. (They used to say that Paladins' abilities benefit from critting as often as possible, which is why I've been using falchion or Khopesh).

    Thanks!

It would help a lot if I could read about the new religious feats before I LR. The DDO Wiki isn't up to date yet.

Does anyone know where I can read about them?

I don't like going str based on a halfling build, though someone does.

You want at least 14 paladin for Zeal, so this leaves with 6 levels to fill. Classes you can take are cleric, fighter, ranger, rogue, sorcerer, wizard.
Cleric isn't helpful, ranger and rogue are for TWF, sorcerer and wizard are casters.
If you want to use a stick you could consider thief acrobat, but you want to feel like a paladin and prefer heavy armor.
    Just take 6 fighter levels.

    OR

    Go 14 pali / 6 ranger, str based. 16 14 14 8 8 14.
You'll use scimitars with 70% offhand attacks, and if you eat a +3dex tome you'll get 90%.
    Feats:
    1 PA
    3 Cleave
    6 Gr Cleave
    9 whatever
    12 Greater TWF
    15 whatever
    18 whatever

Good damage, manyshot bursts, 75 devotion, some sneak attack, AC/ref/PRR enhancements from tempest.
You could even aim at tactical feats, with divine might + ram's might.

Main drawback is you won't feel much like a paladin.

    Just thinking here.
I'd say at least 15 paladin (Zeal+Cure serious, which helps)
/2 rogue for UMD and evasion, +sneak attack from assassin, 75% scroll effectiveness from mechanic. (You can both scroll heal and use cure serious. Twice as good for when things get bad)
*Note. Wear robes for evasion (faster swapping than light armour), play in heavy armour normally. Evasion has its uses, even a paladin knows that! (esp w/ charisma mod to saves)

So, then just throw on fighter levels as you see fit. /3 fighter gives two feats, along with tier III enhancements, giving you haste, more action boosts, damage, to-hit and a few other bits and pieces.

So, I'd say something like 15/3/2 paladin/fighter/rogue, or 16/2/2 paladin/fighter/rogue. Pretty similar to be honest.
This also lets you pick up +3 tactics DC from fighter, which with divine might should give you a fair amount of stunning blow DC. (You can substitute rogue for something else, but UMD, 75% scroll effectiveness and sneak attack is pretty decent. Evasion is just icing)

Of course, just my opinion. If you don't want UMD/sneak attack/evasion (with a decent charisma, seems hard to pass up), could add more fighter, or perhaps ranger. 1 ranger gives 1d6 sneak attack and 75 positive energy from Deep Wood Sniper tree, which will really help. (In that case, I'd say 15/4/1 paladin/fighter/ranger. Again, just my opinion.)

Normally I prefer pallies with Evasion, but since you explicitly asked for a heavy armor build, I came up with this:
    Code:

Extra builds pts can go into CON, CHA, maybe INT or DEX.

The rgr splash may look odd, but it's actually essential to this build: for 10(?) APs you pick up +75 Pos Spellpower to boost healing DM and +2d6 SA from DWS; 4 APs in AA gets you +100 SPs & Magical Training (just enough for CSW). I would spend ~20 APs on halfling tree: that should be enough to max out healing DMs and Guile (+3d6 SA). [Equip an (Imp) Deception item to help take advantage of SAs.] Rest of your APs can go into KotC.

Another option is pal 15 / ftr 4 / rgr 1: you lose the lvl 18 core pally enhancements while keeping lvl 4 spells (Zeal + CSW or Death Ward); but gain two extra feats (use them for extra metamagics or Weap Foc+Spec for Kensei pre-reqs) and higher-tier ftr abilities. Take the extra ftr lvls on odd char lvls and put skill pts into UMD; that way you can still max out Heal on even (pally) lvls.
