WOW.... I thought I was the only one. I had problems for 2 days and I just started to redownload DDO. Sad part is my boyfriend was able to get on DDO with no problems, ugh, some people just have all the luck.

The true turbine haters are not raging over this they are dancing a jig of joy..........people raging over stuff in DDO can be annoying, and if your in love with turbine I guess it can be very upsetting to read all these people complaining and dissing your beloved but I think well at least they *care* *like* the game enough to get all worked up over it being off line, or having bugs, or lag. When we *don't* see posts complaining or raging then I would be really really worried because that would mean the end is nigh..............DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM MMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!

This issue is one we've seen before with a slight twist. This was again a routing issue with a very large internet backbone provider and how it routes traffic in and out of our data center provider (so you're talking 2 layers removed from our direct ability to 'fix it'). The issue also created a cascade issue when the routes were reset that didn't play well with some of the switches and routing hardware in the data center. This is why we've been working through the night with our vendors (provider, hardware, consultants, and others) to make sure each step of the connection from our service through various vendors services and products was checked, doubled checked, and confirmed to be either working correctly or needed to be addressed. We continue to do so, though we believe we are much closer to a resolution than at any point in the past several hours and we feel we are very close to restoring services.

As we've mentioned before, there are circumstances that can create a situation where the launcher and our forums are not accessible to us (myself and the rest of the community team). This is why we try very hard to convince you guys to follow us on twitter and like us on Facebook, because during times like this these are the only methods of commutation we have with you. Even if you can still post here. That is why this is the first post you're seeing from me on the forums, but I've made a large number on our social channels throughout the night.
You know what I find frustrating?

This was the very first bit of information I've ever seen that made it apparent what the problem actually was.

    Thanks for that.

However, y'all could have released a little bit of that information yesterday to cut down on those 78 threads of people complaining and pleading for information. I'm just saying. But y'all can go ahead treating customers like mushrooms if that's your plan to retain your customer base.

I noticed on the lotro forums there is a bit more of an explanation of what occurred this weekend and in the past.

    https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthr...19#post6897619
First, as we didn't need 78 unique threads on the issue, most saying some version of "fix it", they've been removed and this thread will be used going forward.

Second I'll try to fill in what I can about what happened.

Right off the bat, no this was in no way related to Pando. I know some were trying to tie the two together but pando is unrelated to this issue and their announcement has had 0 impact on us in any way.

Hopefully this tones down all the crazy conspiracy theories we've seen recently (pando, hacking, shut downs, contract issues. It's a pretty impressive list!). We appreciate those who tried to share back the information we were posting elsewhere.

We appreciate you've all been frustrated, we also appreciate that this is a major Holiday weekend in the US. Many of us have spent the bulk of it working around the clock to address these issues, so believe me when I say we fully understand and appreciate you had plans. Most importantly we appreciate the passion you all clearly displayed for our game.

I know service and such is not guaranteed 100% but is there currently any steps being taken to assure us that something is actually being done besides a quick fix until next month and we have this same problem again?

I know it could be coincedence also but I have friends who also play other mmo's and at the same time turbine games were down they were down also for "routing" issues. As of this weekend those 2 other games I know of from friends were up this weekend, meaning they "fixed" there problem that was as Sapience called it "2 layers removed from our direct ability to 'fix it'."
Can turbine not take a more direct fix in this problem?

Thumbs up Glad to be in game again But....

there is lag every where mostly the harbor and all the quests in it. had party wipe 3 times on spinner of shadows, caused buy lag issues. like Character freezing and then mob kills you while frozen. most the lag seemed to occur more frequently with powerful AOE like Blade barrier, Ice storm, meteor storm. hope that information is helpful but probably not bases on what I see about the lag source.

What can they give you that will equal the $.33 lost?

What is the TP equivalent of $.33?

45? Maybe enough to buy a Small Loot Gem?

We should be lucky if they extend the +2 Loot for an extra day or two.

You're not looking at it the right way. TP are infinite and have no "cost" associated with them to Turbine. Turbine is like the Fed with it's ability to create money at will. They could easily give everyone 500 TP to show they are going above and beyond with their customer service.

However, I don't think they owe anyone anything. It would be nice to have the +2 loot weekend extended a day or two but not really necessary. These things happen and their terms of service allow for this type of outage. As long as they can show us that they were trying in good faith to get the game back online then they did what they needed to do.

Only if they started to become a MAJOR ISP provider as well. Until then, no.

Cogent has decided unilaterally to not honor the peering agreements that have been the bread and butter of the Internet for ages.

From time to time they just shut down the routes towards Cogent ( and from Cogent ) and redirect the traffic somewhere else.
( just to remind Cogent that if the Telecom Operators wants it they can kill it. [ ok, that's a bit far fetched, as it would take all the Telco worldwide to agree to stop peering with Cogent )

Edit to clarify and to add :

Unless some company has an exclusive routing agreement with Cogent those little squabble between Telecom Operators shouldn't have any impact, as the traffic should be rerouted through another backbone.

    there you go
Thank you for the explanation. All the customers here are asking for is a little feedback when something like this happens. Providing the details of the problem and what the root cause was well after the servers are all online really does not do a whole lot for your customer service department.

In the future a post like this could have been made to Turbine/DDO's Twitter or Facebook. Something to the effect of, "We are experiencing problems with our ISP and the routing of our traffic. We have our ISP and data centers working on the issue and will keep you posted as we try to restore connectivity to the game." A post like that would have vastly improved the response from the forums. When you keep us in the dark of course we will come up with theories like you guys being hacked, Pando going out of business, etc.

I also think Turbine should consider a uniform compensation based on the amount of downtime and post it on the forums to show you have a process in place should this happen again in the future. Something like x amount of downtime = xx% XP boost for a certain amount of time, or Turbine Points. In the future users won't complain because there will be a uniform template they can refer to. Having a process in place with transparency so the community is aware of what is going on keeps them playing and loyal.

Default Simple Server Status on the Web Site

Please put some thought into creating a status on the site that shows when servers are up and down. We should not need to log in to the client to figure out if a server is up. Even when the site was up and the servers were down, there should be a simple status widget on the site to allow people to quickly view what's going on before they try log in using the client. Simple communication on a findable spot would be awesome, and catch the website up to most MMO's.

There are also several apps for phones you can download to keep track of server status along with other DDO info including puzzle solvers, charts for XP, etc.

Hey guys came back yesterday from a long weekend saw that there were some issues. sounds like they got fixed. well i spent hours looking for the fix and i cant seem to find it. my launcher freezes at the install prereq.

    1. whats the fix?
    2. why is it not posted somewhere that is easy to find?
    3. why is it never easy to find?
    4. facebook sucks and I cant find **** on there half the time. but then again im not im not a "pro" facebook'er and I should not have to be.
    5. I dont do twitter (never saw the point) I understand you have issues sometimes with the forums but they work now (please see questions 2 and 3)
    6. I should not have to get a twitter acct. or google search the entire freaking internet just to find a workaround from some 3rd party website. when you have a working forum. In my opinion thats BS.

I never complain but I am now due to the aforementioned. But hold on im not going to be a complete ********, and just puke out my frustrations about this. I can at least come to the table with a solution that helps

    1. post the freaking fix on the goddamn FORUMS in huge bold letters " the fix or workaround to the problem and all related materials to it"
    2. everytime i buy store stuff i get guess what? Thats right an email. Now im not a computer or programming genius like you guys at turbine, but i know enough to know that you have everyone that plays this game emails. and I know enough to know that it isnt rocket science to be able to send everyone an email. So send me a lousy email with the service issue and what the fix is.

2 simple things to do that reasures me the paying customer. That i can play the game without searching the entire world wide web, consulting with terrorist groups, porn sites, targeted by the NSA. with a drone looking at my house. just to find a lousy fix to the issue.

sorry for the venting but i had to let it out because some of this is ****** stuff that should have been implemented into not only customer service but years ago.
