For a few of the others who've been posting... Call me a fan boy if you like, or any other "derogatory" if you like, but the simple reality is, I've never had any reason to be overly disappointed by the service of Turbine or DDO. Every time I've had a question or make a call, they've been incredibly helpful. In fact, I've had far more trouble getting help from the community than from them, personally.[/QUOTE]

Default A message that was located on LOTR forum

"Second I'll try to fill in what I can about what happened.

Right off the bat, no this was in no way related to Pando. I know some were trying to tie the two together but pando is unrelated to this issue and their announcement has had 0 impact on us in any way.

This issue is one we've seen before with a slight twist. This was again a routing issue with a very large internet backbone provider and how it routes traffic in and out of our data center provider (so you're talking 2 layers removed from our direct ability to 'fix it'). The issue also created a cascade issue when the routes were reset that didn't play well with some of the switches and routing hardware in the data center. This is why we've been working through the night with our vendors (provider, hardware, consultants, and others) to make sure each step of the connection from our service through various vendors services and products was checked, doubled checked, and confirmed to be either working correctly or needed to be addressed. We continue to do so, though we believe we are much closer to a resolution than at any point in the past several hours and we feel we are very close to restoring services.

As we've mentioned before, there are circumstances that can create a situation where the launcher and our forums are not accessible to us (myself and the rest of the community team). This is why we try very hard to convince you guys to follow us on twitter and like us on Facebook, because during times like this these are the only methods of commutation we have with you. Even if you can still post here. That is why this is the first post you're seeing from me on the forums, but I've made a large number on our social channels throughout the night.

Hopefully this tones down all the crazy conspiracy theories we've seen recently (pando, hacking, shut downs, contract issues. It's a pretty impressive list!). We appreciate those who tried to share back the information we were posting elsewhere.

We appreciate you've all been frustrated, we also appreciate that this is a major Holiday weekend in the US. Many of us have spent the bulk of it working around the clock to address these issues, so believe me when I say we fully understand and appreciate you had plans. Most importantly we appreciate the passion you all clearly displayed for our game. "
There is some missing here, but it was something about 70+ threads on the forum, so I deleted it out.

Its more like any other MMO with small DnD elements to it, but the game play gets VERY dull plus their servers can't really handle high-ping connections. My connection is run by tethering from my cellphone with an OK sprint connection and it gets me by in DDO. Neverwinter sucks in that respect, that game gets old and boring real quick.

However, the PvP is really fun and I enjoy it. The game needs a major update by next year though. While there is a lot of content and quests... they are not as interesting as the ones you take in DDO. I have to say the quests in DDO are well thought out , seriously they are.

Yeah you can run the custom quests in Neverwinter ( the player made dungeon/quests). Those are fun and everything, but they will take you away from the main story really fast! There are too many sidetracks in NWO.

DDO is a bit more linear, but there are SOOO MANY QUESTS that you can do what seems like what ever you want. Then theres the favor you get as an incentive which NWO has none of that... NWO feels like DDO run by Koreans.
Yep. I tried it out today, and NWO is definitely very different from DDO. But it looks like fun and a fair option in DDO's absence.

from 3 to 8 hours every week, so count..

weekly maintenances, updates, patches to updates, fixes to patches, emergency fixes of serious bugs/glitches (that never was wrote in patch notes), 3 days off while they changed billing, etc...

so maybe around ~350 hours off during last year - that's about ~4% downtime.. not that good...

in any serious company such row of management fails will cause firing, but turbine seems to be paradise: managers still ignoring Pando's warning 27 days ago "we'll close at that date", unable to predict timing of changing billing(no internal testing before applying?), etc..; devs use players as beta-testers and even not once checking any new raw features like sagas and raid counters splitting while setting'em on live; FoS is out of imagination while creating new items... etc.. etc..

    Default I want TP

Personally I want to be reimbursed at this point in time. And not with game stuff but TP. Send us all some Astral Shards instead of any other game gifts which most of the time I don't need near as much as TP.

Offical Discussion : Service issues Sept 1- Sept 2

First, as we didn't need 78 unique threads on the issue, most saying some version of "fix it", they've been removed and this thread will be used going forward.

Second I'll try to fill in what I can about what happened.

Right off the bat, no this was in no way related to Pando. I know some were trying to tie the two together but pando is unrelated to this issue and their announcement has had 0 impact on us in any way.

Not sure if there's any truth to it, but I found this on their facebook page:

hello who ever is in charge. My friend posted this and said to share with you so I am copying and pasting what he said since I am not sure I can reach you any other way with the ddo server being down. Not sure if this will help but here is what he posted: "It turns out that LOTR online, NeverWinter online, and Star Trek online are having the same login/connection problems as DDO. The common factor seems to be Verizon FIOS. Someone posted that "Verizon is having a little business dispute with Cogent Communications."
Someone else posted the following workaround on the Star Trek online forums.
"A work around is to use a VPN service. Google some free VPN services."
After installing OpenVPN and creating a free account, I was able to immediately connect to DDO.
I'm a F2P player, so I don't have acces to Tech Support. If one of you wants to pass the info along, I'm sure they would appreciate it. "
