I would like to see a plat option so I dont have to spend my Astral Shards on this when I can be spending them elsewhere..
but over all I dont have an issue with 3as to port directly to the quest entrance, saves me a couple minutes.
The discovery camp ports bring you closer to some extent but the north camp is still a ways away from the end quest.
The lag we are getting in these quests is annoying, have had the party locked up quite a few times in all of these quests, when we get reconnected the quest is reset and we are back in eveningstar with a unusable guild token in inventory, minus time ship buffs, xp pots, and I have to go get my sp back... and my key is still on timer...argh,,,
Jotmon - Let's not forget why we play these games - to have fun - ~
Guild: Degenerate Matter - 200 (Former Guilds: ChaosKnights, Big Damn Heroes, Shadowfiends, Order of the Drow, Unusual Suspects, Raided R)
Argo-Jotmon(Completionist - before the Otto's/XP pots easymode), Jotmonheals(Clr17/Rog2/Mnk1-Epic Completionist), Whatthetruck.. and many many more alts..
Update 24: Champions... "whew, it's ok, it's only a red name" .. sad day when trash spawn Champions and their one-shot ignore fort attacks instill more party fear than the Red named bosses.
As for Hound and VoD, it takes 3 minutes max to reach them... Yes, I didn't pug them, they used to be a regular fixture in guild raids. The longest bit is the 4 plates to light.
I don't hate explorers in themselves, I love spending time in them. I just hate them as a mandatory place to cross to reach quests.
DDO used to advertise on the fact that you didn't have to spend hours running in "wilderness" areas before reaching the point where the actual adventure started.
Now it's more : We are like any other games we have trees and you have to run ( if you don't want to pay ) for a long time ( relatively ) to start playing except that it's Dungeons and Dragons.
On G-Land : Flavilandile, Blacklock, Yaelle, Millishande, Larilandile, Gildalinde, Tenalafel, and many other...
We have been running across immersive landscapes since the game launched, this is not new. What is new is being given the option to teleport near to the Quests, minus an exception or two.
Why aren't the ADHD, OMG! I'm loosing two minutes on my xp/min rush to cap people crying bucket full of tears over Tangleroot, Sarrowdusk, Underdark, Kings Forest and every other landscape we need to cross?
You spend more time in a quest then running to it. Will this crowd now start to cry that Quests take to long to zerg to the end and they need an option to teleport to the end fight?
I can teleport you directly to the quest of your choice for a fee.
Do you want to pay 3 shards?
And then there's the idiots who try to compare it to people wanting to be teleported to the end chest or boss. Like, get out of here that. It's leagues apart, and in no way connected.
For me the latest explorer areas are the most immersive areas ever. Never have I spent more time to actually enjoy the landscape than in MoTU areas and Stormhorns, because they always just felt like a courtyard. Trees bending in the wind, fantastic mountainscape, new monsters, new creative encounters (dancing Satyrs = best! encounter! ever! so far).
The quest interiors and ambiente is finally that of a fantasy dungeon (was already that way in MoTU) and not of a standard square box with kobolds.
Now, if I could have a quest like Rainbow In The Dark but in a glacier and its flickering reflections of a single lightsource... that'd be awesome.
And thus I really don't care about the maximum 2 min. of running invis.ed to the quest entrances. Once you have to explore, only once. For me and my guildies it was a whole single adventure itself. We spent 2 hours in the area and did not even want to quest. For people, who don't like this there are options. Back in the days you did not have any option whatsoever.

People who don't like large explorer areas should find a new game. Large explorer areas have been a staple of DDO for many years and has brought people to the game that enjoy such design. There are other games out there for those that don't like them. Instead of trying to dumb down the game, it's probably just best to find a game that has the design choices that you like.
Yes, the game should be your character loading into a room, and you just open your compendium and teleport to any quest in the game. Actually I should be able to pay to not even have to be bothered to do that as it should just know what quests I want to run. I mean, all these keystrokes needed to log in....

Advocating repeated nerfs in the name of "balancing the game" then complaining about how DDO is moving away from D&D, is a direct contradiction in logic - D&D 3.5 (what DDO is based on) is not a balanced game. We can either have a balanced clone MMO with homogenized classes, or we can have a D&D game. We cant have both.
If you can't figure out how to make a well under <60s run to any Wheloon quest w/o attracting every mob in sight, perhaps you're not ready to run EE? And if you haven't figured out the shortcuts, then perhaps you need to spend a little more time inside the explorer...
You've got invis/haste/exp retreat/jump/blur and now even shadowwalk clickies... so how the heck does one fail getting there, do you need a trail of plat to follow?
Or, just let the toon that knows the way go open the north gate so the rest of the party can just saunter north at their own pace.
There are teleports once you have completed the quests in wheloon. the Old hall liason teleports you directly inside old hall where the lvr for the gate is (can easily get to the army of shadow, thrill of the hunt, and mirror darkly, and even the friends in low places if you didnt feel like running from the entrance) from it basically cutting down the run time in less then half since it is in the center of the map and has several ways (rooftops/side entrances) to get to the quests.
the other liason takes you to teh only safe spot after friends in low places, has a vendor there and is really close to the lesson in deception.
again, as with the storm horn quests, once you have the teleport its less then 1min from the quest entrances, and all are really easy to get to from them. if your wiping in the wilderness then I'd have to agree that your doing something wrong, perhaps not running through the area without slaying stuff, assassins are a pain even without getting a DA. but being a pain doesnt mean they're not wanted. challange is fun.
even with the increased mob spawn. storm horn had 20-50 mobs at a time, within 1 sec of eachother as we made our way to the north camp with a bunch of first timers, on our way to do EE, and we had like 2-3 people dying along the way but the others stayed alive despite the mobs, and that was with getting red DA a few times. wheloon prison explorer is ALOT easier then trying to make that trek up the mountain with a full party.
No, srs tho, so what if it has been a staple. Things have changed before and they will again. The teleport option allows for more players that do not love that design, but love the rest of the game, to enjoy it. As much as you enjoy slowly strolling through your explorers, ( I mean we both know im lying, you zerg w haste, abundant, wings, striding, shadowwalk). Also, lol a dumbing down comment, not applicable here.
Now if we can get them to change it for a plat fee because of their abitrary greedy decision to take a payment for a option that should be free. I think youre the one who told me the teleport to quest from lfm panel feature never made it to live, or something? So they had a plan to allow us to teleport? But they never fixed it? I still get the error message time to time feels like a slap in the face.
I like the fact that we can choose to run to locations the first time, then teleport thereafter. If you look at old threads on the forums, that is exactly what people asked for. And for those that do not want to run to locations the first time, you get to pay Astral Shards. Easy enough for everyone.
The paths are very easy to locate, the scenery is gorgeous. I like it. Please do not change it.

You were trying to argue for a more immersive experience a few posts ago. Now you want an immersive shiny snail trail to follow for the hard of thinking?
You need to make your mind up what it is you want in a game and then find a game that delivers it.

Perhaps it's that English is not my first nor even my second language, but have the meanings for "bait and switch" and "forced" expanded or been changed? I only ask because I see them being used a lot around these forums.
