    Default Enhancements

I am confused about the new system for enhancements (returning player).

Do you need to have all 6 of the core abilities along the bottom to have the correct stats for the prestige enhancement (e.g. Arcane Archer etc)?

nope, you need the first core to unlock the tree, then you go shopping in the tree and the cores to pick up the parts of arcane archer you want (with maybe a bit of fluff to unlock things, same as spending enough points in the old system)

once that first core is unlocked you can then leave it at core 1 and only get stuff from the tree. to get more cores you do have to spend a certain amount in the tree. chances are you will want the bulk of it anyway if you're building an archer.

you can also grab stuff from other trees too, though you can only have one tree with top tier 5 abilities. so take a poke about deepwood sniper, there might be bits in there you want to mix in when your archer stuff is all sorted

Excellent, I must say I was a bit daunted by the new system at first but its growing on me.

The learning curve is a bit higher just because there's so much more than there used to be...its not just "pick a PrE and fill out the rest with stats and passive bonuses" anymore

I have found, playing around a lot with it, that (at least for me) the best way to go about it is to focus on maybe 4-5 mid tier skills to build towards, from multiple trees, rather than trying to build around one T5 ability. Usually you get more "bang for your buck" with two mid tier skills than one top tier. 20-ish points in Racial, 30ish in one tree, 20-30 in another, and 0-10 in one last "extra stuff" tree is I think a balanced approach to the new system that maximizes racial/class/multiclass synergies.

Not that there's not viable builds that are more specialist, of course - just a general rule of thumb.
