    Smile

My glaciation short sword is now ml28. Sadly, the sorceror that uses it remains only lvl21.

    Please fix.

It kills me to think how much plat I spent buying those stupid recipes to upgrade it all the way to Glaciation IX.

Way over 500k. And this was back when 500K was really a lot of plat.

That is why it ended up at ML27.
An interesting item and strange outcome. Thanks for sharing it with us.

    Cheers
The problem is that the +18 item is weaker than it should be for that huge of a minimum level increase. See for instance this comparison:

This also illustrates the point. When "correction" is made for the risia mods (and others) the weapons actually end up worse than random loot gen due to the ridiculously high MLs.

Matuse - there is something wonky with the item in the first place, before the change.
There is no way that a +18 item would be ML8.
It was a +2 Major Ice Lore Club when I initially got it, and it was ML:8.

Then during the second iteration of the Risia Games, after Turbine changed it so that the Glaciation recipes could be put onto a "naked" item, and its spell level and Glaciation amount progressively bumped, I ran it through some 12,000 winter motes and 5 of each level of Risia recipes to give it Superior Glaciation IX.

People said I was nuts...Polar Ray was and is the highest level cold spell, so Superior Glaciation VIII was the highest I needed...but I went and did it anyway. When MotU hit, Superior Glaciation IX became Glaciation 90, and it got the +18 item mod.

Now it's so bad that I cannot fathom anyone at level 27 actually using it, to say nothing of its complete destruction as a twinking item for levels below 27.

An excellent example of where the "updates" are not being done right. Many of the best items in the game are turned into junk by these upgrade passes.

Remember when superior potency was a great item? They nerfed them down when everything changed to spell power. Now its happening again.

My request is that they stop wrecking stuff we have. Coming out with something better that I want to go and find is a good thing. Ruining my current stuff so I have to go get new stuff just to return to the level I was already at is bad.

THe issue with this is they should have done it that way from the beginning. TO have people building items for years and years under the pretense that this is how they are, and then change them later on is terribad. Had they added to ML in the beginning people would have used the kits with full knowledge of what they did. Its not like this was a bug (like zero ML rings) or a known issue (like pure good). It was WAI, and now its changed.

I completely agree. If it raised the ML from the start, there would be no complaining now.

The second half of it is that the "festival" coded items are still not being changed. They are still great twink gear. I think turbine should help us convert our old stuff to festival so it goes back to the original ML and is worth keeping again.

The argument that the ML should be on par is moot because the festivult bonus is still good.

The glaciation was just too much work to let it pass, if it were just the icy bursts the issue would hold less water.
The icy bursts took some effort or plat, but is nowhere near the amount of motes spent in making the glaciation items.

And they do stand out in the item tables since there's no equivalent, devs should be able to isolate them in some way.
They can add a recipe to make epic glaciation under 90 to be non epic.

Or even adjust the curve of the bonus growth, or at least the progression of the bonus to be on par with rand gen.
Anything really, so that it is not left as it is.

Point is, even when devs practice says old stuff should go obsolete, they can still do some intervention.
It needs not be right away, it could be in a future festivult, or even a one time recipe.
The problem seems to be this doesn't fall into the old gear category, nor a bug to bugfix.
It's a non-ordinary situation where old code gets replaced without upgrade path.

If nothing happens with this how can we look forward to future festivals?
Personally i don't look forward to Mabar, and skipped Cove this last time, dun even know the name of the winter one in eveningstar.
Yet i still remember the thrill of that first Risia, and the laugh of the people that splashed in the bay when it vanished at 7:00 AM :P

Default an old friend gone :(

My pain is from a trusty +1 holy/pg icy burst falcion that saw me thru many a zerg in Deleras + a holy/pg icy burst +5 great axe that was a standard goto till my level allows greensteel... i put tons of effort to get these + 6 or so other weapons, to get icy on them and now all that effort means I cannot use them till i reach a level where they become useless... This nerf hurts because all the planning and effort to get these in my inventory all those years ago... goodbye old friends....

Default Yes, a means of de-crafting old Risia would be nice

If Turbine could at least put in a method by which we could remove old Risia crafting so we could then have back the original and much prized items we carefully farmed/purchased-at-great-price to use exactly for the Risia crafting we could at least then re-craft on them with the newer Risia crafting. It would be something of help.
