Default Dev question: Xp Ransack Mechanic: Are Challenges exempt?

The reason I ask is that Canith Challenges will soon be giving an over level penalty when players are level 28 and if you add on an 80% penalty for repetition, I could conceivably see a situation where a run results in 0 XP, which kinda...makes Challenges even more pointless than they already are...

Yes, Challenges are exempt from the new ransack mechanics.

Thank you for responding and so quickly. I hoped it would be the case, but wasn't sure.

The XP for any runs after the first time getting 6 stars in challenges is so awful anyway I don't know anyone who runs them for anything more than once except crafting materials.

Maybe with the changes even that awful xp might start to look attractive?

The changes do not stop farming... just change the way people will farm.

Well I don't know precicely how the mechanics will work, but a guildie and I were formulating an XP plan last night, with how I believe this new system will work. Since (again, I am not 100% sure I'm correct) you get +20% for the first run of a quest with no xp ransack and you lose 10% each subsequent run, you could do 3 runs a day of a quest and still get full base xp for your final run. Pick a chain like VON 1-4 and do it 3 times for xp. Then the next day, pick something else - let's say the first chain in the King's Forest. Run those each 3 times. Then the day after, choose another chain - maybe the Underdark chain. By that time, it's been 2 days since you've run your first set of quests. After 18 hours, up to 50% of the xp ransack expires, meaning you'd be back to full XP on those first quests you chose, and you could just rinse and repeat. In the long run, you'll run more variety of quests and still get OK xp. You'll be missing out on the farming 20k+ xp per minute that you can get from farming the same quests over and over for hours.

I just used chains as an example, you could just plan out your favourite quests per day. I was a little irritated at the initial proposal but, if it works like I think it does, it just means I'll not be able to knock out a million xp an hour, it'll be a bit slower than that.

Default What about quests like litany

Litany of the dead needs to be run 4 times in order to flag,
What happens when I chose a different route down below (after the quest is over, and after the dragon) do I lose xp if I repeat the quest and go to a different objective the 3rd and 4th time?
Instead of complaining that there are no healers, go roll one...

No, you lose 20% each subsequent run.

    So:

    120
    100
    80
    60
    40
    20
    20
    20
    20

    It stops dropping at 20.
