I play both melees and dc casters.
I like the way saves are now on the live servers.
With only 56 necro dc and a lot of skill from my side I can do very well on epic elite. I think if the devs listen to people here asking to reduce saves by 5 we could end in a situation similar to what epic hard is now: not fun for anyone.
Someone said there is no mass enervation to make otto and mass hold to land. Such a statement just shows your wizard spellbook knowledge. You might want to check crushing despair and hypnotism.
One thing I would like to see is more time between each save of a holded or dancing mob. I can make them dance just fine, but then they break free to fast
If they break free too fast means that the saves are not WAI. The one dancing just rolled low. It just shows how high their saves are, contradicting yourself.
His "only" a 56 necro DC is silly because that's 1 away from Max sustainable. You need completionist to get higher. This all changes Monday.
On live now I'm good for 20-30 kills a shrine in EE High Road/GH on my PM, but many of those come from being a sneaky bastard and out-right stealing them from the melees with a well-timed energy burst.
If I'm actually wrong, that's even worse. The Max sustainable DC let mobs escape from their spells after 1 or 2 seconds.
Human PM, level 25
62 INT I actually have a +5 tome so I've got less coming from EDs or twists.
56 Necro DC. A Bard and a DDO store pot would be 58.
With a +5 Orb, +11 int gloves, and level 28 the same toon is 65 Necro DC on lamania.
Results showed the stunning fist hitting nearly all the time (assume fail on 1 only), and a Finger of Death landing most of the time with 1 enervation.
If I had to guess their number to beat is somewhere between 66-70 (ie fail only on a 1).
Again, this is a limited test on one quest; but it is sufficient for me to give it a try (just finished TR'ing my wizard into a Drow in preparation)
There are a lot of new ways to debuff in the enhancement pass.
I wonder if the assassin poison works with ranged, its -1 save every hit up to -5 if I'm reading it right.
Instakilling that requires a bunch of debuffing is never going to be as great as u9-13, but if it doesn't cost (much) SP it might be viable.
Gildus, Sabathiel, Einion, Yhvain
For mere mortals (non-Completionists), that's a 65 DC.Max Sustainable Necro DC:
4 Feats (Spell Focii + PL:Wizard)
3 ED (Spell Focus: Necromancy)
1 Tier 5 Pale Master
Just looks a little sad. And that's in Magister. And I have strong negative feelings about Magister.
You'll still be casting Energy Drain+Enervate on every mob except casters before using Finger of Death. Wail and Circle are completely niche spells only useful for "lower level" mobs like the CR53 lizards in Wheloon prison EEs. DC-based casters remain a casualty of mob scaling in Shadowfell content. If you want to play an offensive caster, Shiradi is the only viable option.
If you want to be an instakiller, then 15 Monk is the solution. Quivering Palm DCs can get much higher and it has a quicker cooldown than Finger of Death.
I know that in any sort of normal gameplay that's true, but in town can you not swap from Tea with the Queen to Magister with the buff still running for long enough to get a screenshot? I know you used to be able to, but if that's changed I'm happy to sit corrected and will update the calc.
Khyber: Aggrim (Completionist!)
All of my builds are grossly out of date. Just roll a human or drow mechanic / assassin rogue thing.
Blind insta-kills floating eye balls.
