Default Sting of the Ninja nerfed for Shuriken

Sting of the Ninja has been nerfed. It doesn't apply a stack of Ninja Poison on every hit for shuriken anymore. Instead it only applies it on every crit like any other slashing and piercing weapon.
Very bad change. It wasn't overpowered in my opinion since most mobs are immune to poison anyway (Undead, Constructs, and a lot of other monsters)

Are you sure this isnt just a bug? I dont think they would make such a crazy change, as it would render this useless.

Very sure it is not a bug since they even changed the description text of the enhancement and the weapon effect. Looks like it's a stealth nerf because there is nothing stated about the change in the release notes.

And in one foul swoop they killed any ideas people had of making thrower builds....... Bravo.

On one hand, 15 stacks of poison don't really do a ton of damage, it's nice damage, but not really OP.

Then on the other, 15 stacks of poison and when you strip them, that can be a lot of damage.

Before we all go crazy and nerd rage on this one, I would get confirmation on the next DEV chat Sunday.

To be fair it was 20 stacks of poison with 1d4 each PLUS a 5% vulnerability stacking up to 20 times which makes +100% bonus damage from poison. That makes 2[20d4]=40d4 damage all in all with full stacks plus two times the damage from the Quiver of Poison (=2d10) and the Weapon Poison stance (=2d8 if you use it from Drow Racial Enhancements) because they are amplified by +100% too.

40d4 poison damage alone was an average of 100 points of damage to poison vulnerable monsters per tick as a maximum after 10-20 attacks with shuriken expertise.

I really hope they undo this change, even if they have to reduce ninja poison a bit, but they should compensate by making the poison magical in nature as its BS that they removed PC poison immunity but left Mobs with it!

Maybe they should just make it that Shuriken Proc the Ninja Poison 50% of the time, as it stands now its pretty poor.

I know 50% is half of what it was but its a whole lot better than whats proposed.

I didn't test it yet but the enhancement description states explicitly that it is a magical poison.

Any new stuff regarding this? Have they compensated the change in any way?

    Best regards!

What's the difference between that and a normal poison? Does it mean that enemies that would be immune to poison effects are affected by ninja poison?

From what I've seen there is no damage displayed that can be attributed to the ninja poison. Unlike the drow ad rogue's poisoned weapons stance, it doesn't change the damage done. From my own experience I think the dev's accidentally bugged it or it never worked in the first place.

And the nerf's to throwers begins...... Has there ever been a time when all thrower abilities ever worked at the same time? Every update at least one thing is broken and now we have a nerf before they ever all work as intended.

    Wait , wait ....

Your saying shurikens were applying a stack on every hit.
The description said melee or thrown weapons apply a stack on critical hits.

They change it so shurikens only now work on every critical , just like it works for everything else AND in the description.
And your calling this a stealth nerf?

Maybe that word does not mean what you think it means

This was a really old thread.
Originally, Sting of the Ninja worked on every hit for shuriken. This was changed to criticals. The description was changed.

Currently it doesn't work at all.

    Could you elaborate? I was under the impression it only didn't work with Named Shurikens;
Is it having issues with any other form of weaponry as well?
