Default Casting Arcane Spells in armor or shielded?

Can the Artificer cast Arcane spells such as Tenser's Transformation or Repair Critical with no Arcane Spell failure with a shield or Adamantine Armor feat equipped?

To my understanding ASF is not an issue, when wearing Light or Medium Armour, for any spell in the Artificer's spell book, whether learned, written, or cast from scroll.

ASF is an issue when wearing Heavy Armour, or when using scrolls/wands to cast spells with UMD, like Raise Dead. It becomes really noticeable with the Artie capstone when you're able to cast a huge percentage of scrolls in the game, then something like the Medium Terrorweb really causes annoyances for ASF.

    Not quite:
    • Artificers have no ASF when casting infusions from their spellbook or when using arty-only scrolls (e.g., Deadly Weapons).
    • Artificers do have to deal with ASF when using arcane scrolls from the sorc/wiz spell list, even if arties get those spells too (e.g., Reconstruct).
    • ASF doesn't affect divine scrolls unless they overlap with sorc/wiz spells as well (e.g., Raise Dead & Heal have no ASF, Resist or Prot. from Energy do).
    • ASF never affects wands.

So in the OP's example, he could cast Tensers and RCW from their spellbook w/out any ASF; but if he tried to use scrolls of either, he would, because they're both wiz/sorc spells as well as arty.

You quoted the second half of my post, with the intent to correct it, yet somehow didn't know that your "correction" was unnecessary because of the first part of my post "ASF is not an issue, when wearing Light or Medium Armour, for any spell in the Artificer's spell book, whether learned, written, or cast from scroll.'"

Heavy armor has no bearing on whether or not ASF applies to an arty; they aren't natively proficient with hvy armor, but that's a separate issue. UMD also has no bearing on ASF; it's whether or not it's an arcane scroll which matters. If you're having trouble using divine scrolls like Raise Dead or Heal, something else is interfering, like lag or failing a Concentration check or not having a high enough UMD score.

Caveat: I haven't checked to see if anything's changed under the new Enhancement system.

Which is not much different than saying UMD and ASF come into the mix when casting non-artificer spells via scroll or wand.

As for ASF not entering into when the spells are Arcane, that's not the way things were explained to me previously, and I guess I'll have to grab some summon monster scrolls or something to test this with.
