Default Poor Itemization of Update 19

From my glance – I am horribly disappointed. First the itemization is bland, just stronger better versions of gear which already exists. Two, the loot simply detracts from the game. DDO already had power creep issues but adding 3 character levels and at the same time changing max stat on equipment from +8 to +11 (and who knows what new insight levels exist) just detracts from previous content. All of the sudden your quests which lots of hard effort and energy were put into creating them from Update 14 to update 18 are no longer worthwhile because you just grind to 28 and go get your random +11 key stat and +11 Constitution item and call it a day. New expansions should not make your last year of content worthless. Loot should be fresh and exciting, it should fill much needed slots with options which allow gear flexibility for unique builds. A new update should not make the last year worth of quests obsolete and it should not just be 30% increased damage, efficiency, protection from the last year of itemization.
    This is bad…
Leaving Lame-annian forums, this glance was just depressing – I was hoping for some ray of sunlight in DDO’s future. Now I just regret spending money again.

PS: I don’t like random either and I don’t like loot which is different for each difficulty class of the quest – ultimately however that is just a small issue compared to blandness and items which are unhealthy for the current existing itemization environment.

The loot is junk. But to their credit they are going back to fix the loot and add more named loot.

However, The change in stats eliminate FoT as worthwhile gear. It simply becomes pikers fate for L28's.

    EDITED

Found the thread stating they are doing more with U19 loot. Forgot that Feather doesn't show up in dev trackers.

I am glad that they are doing more with the named loot as it was definitely underwhelming, I also agree with Janisis that I felt a little bit more power creep considering this is just a 3 level jump compared to the 5 levels that were added with update 14(I really hope they stop at lev 30 though to stay more in keeping with regular D&D). A lot of the random loot I was seeing was stuff completely capable of replacing some of the EE quest and raid gear, and while I do understand that the added levels will result in some healthy competition with gear, I also feel that there should be a reward for completing these quests and raids on the harder difficulties and that gear shouldn't be so easily replaced, especially by random loot.

    Default Loot

I don't know, I sort of like the idea that the loot gen gear isn't only viable while you're leveling up your first toon. It might actually be nice if those jewels of fortune made the random gear that dropped while doing epic elites viable gear options. That way every time you open a chest there's a chance to get something useful out of it, rather than only when you open that 1 chest in that 1 quest that you only run once every 3 days and seldom get what you want from it.

yes and no, the +to stat is smoothed out (i saw +8 to stat (named) items at lv 15, so i assume they are
spreading those out a bit. A welcome change, from lv 13 to 20 you're stuck with a +6 stat item. tho keeping with D&D lore, this isn't D&D anymore, its a popcorn action game, far easier to jump into and have fun then 8 years ago. Not that far of from a coin-up arcade game, just put in the coin, deactivate your brain, no puzzles==>no need for thinking anyway and enjoy the ride.

on the other hand, i would be realy happy to see gear increased in power, , ESoS is ancient yet still is considered the best tool for the party barb. with the hp inflation (of mobs) of the last couple of years i cant help but wondering about the 2handed weapons comming out of late.

Sure cleaver's curse and limbchopping is nice but only seems to point out that we need to slow m down fast because the weapons dps is lacking.
it lacks punch.... remember being exited about carnifex, sos, greensteel, the old and unnerfed nightmare, the old and unnerfed ESoS (insert sarcastic remarks about dropping the ball and repeating paterns).
and there are many builds out there that could use a bit of love in the weapons department.

Do you (looking at turbine) see why we felt so underwhelmed seeing the first (random) "named" loot
    apearing here on the forum?

    @the OP:
i see where you're comming from, i was downright pumped comming of EGH and bought this expension straight away, looking back i feel like i wasted the cash, i won't do that again and won't recommend this pack as a wholle, the way it looks now
