Default Looking for a build with 8-12 levels of wizard

I would like some ideas on a build that is dependent on another class for most of the damage (like going unarmed for monk instead of using dmg spells) but has about 8-12 levels of wizard. I would prefer if the other class was a melee. What i would like to see out of this character is good survivability (which im thinking will come from the wizard with all of the buff's) and good damage. I have tried Monk Wizard and the damage seems too low compared to my pure artificer. What i have in mind is 12 rogue 8 wizard or vice versa. If someone could provide me with a build for that or say if its a good idea or a completely abhorred one that would be amazing!

On a side note is there something low level that im missing big time that would significantly increase my damage output? im using quest gear that isnt all that bad (its level 7) and it takes quite some time to kill CR 12 mobs on elite of level 5 quests.

    Maybe a 12Wizard 6Ranger 2Monk - Warforged

    Greater TWF, Manyshot, Evasion etc
    And Tenser's ofc.

I had a WF 12 Wiz/6fighter/2mnk, THF with Greataxes for DPS and also used Shield and Bastard Sword (Had a Nightmare) on occasions.
Ended up with a pretty decent PRR and AC at one stage before I tr'd it.

I also like the look of the TWF ranger version mentioned above.
    Toons:
Smallmans Syndrome, Rovac, Dragnipur, Prettyhater Machine, Lubed, Castinfist
Emmpeethree, Hyperkill Hyperthrill and Greyvegas (All on Khyber)

Why 2 levels of monk? for unarmed fighting or something else?

Carnifex is the best low-lvl 2H weapon for fighting anything critable; otherwise it really depends on what the rest of your build is like to figure out the best options. That said, a heavily-MCed melee wiz build isn't going to have the low-lvl DPS of, say, a pure barb.

Two extra feats, Evasion, +3 to all saves; using handwraps is also an option, but not required.

Anyway, WF is the obvious choice for what you're doing - Repair / Reconstruct FTW! Of course, since you've got artificer, so is going Juggernaut instead of wiz-based...are you going for a wiz PL, or just trying to be different?

My WF 12Wiz/6Rang/2Monk (currently 10Wiz/3Rang/2Monk) uses Carnifax when damage output is more important that self defense, but switches to Vampiric Stonedust Wraps + Earth Stance when things get a little too hot to handle.

And of course, the ability to increase saves by switching to Water stance is very handy at times.

I'm also leveling up a Juggernaut (currently 9Art/2Pal/2Monk), but to be honest I have much more fun playing the Wiz version above. Sometimes I really want to dish out the spell damage, and the Arti flame turret is way inferior to the CloudKill+AcidFog+IceStorm+Niac+ConeofCold

Every time I try to play a 12Wiz/6Ftr/2Monk, the lower saves and skill points just flat out depresses me. Definitely more synergy with the THF style, though.

    Definitely recommend 12wiz/6ranger/2monk or rogue.

Take the ranger levels early and dps is very good for leveling and at 20 you can take shiradi. Manyshot burst damage, 2wf, and then meta'd magic missle/chain missile SLA's between.

Sounds like stupid fun and easy to level.

I played an elven sorceror with a 2 Paladin splash that wore Mithral Twilight Full Plate with 0% ASF that used wands of Cure Serious and Lay on Hands... it works great for the early levels, but ran outta steam after level 12 or so.

A melee combat wizard needs to have some serious self-healing if it plans to stay in melee very long.

The build you posted has only 12 levels of wizard and a mostly-dumped Int score - the 2 feats you burn on spell focus: illusion aren't going to make up for those deficiencies. You can get virtually free and unlimited invisibility with scrolls, and blur lasts long enough you won't need to cast it that often. Displacement for 6 sp is nice, but not worth all the feats and action points, IMHO. You'd get much more bang for your buck going Pale Master instead.

Unless it's just a flavor build for fun, I wouldn't recommend it.

Sorry I used an incorrect name, the proper name is Bladesinger not Blademaster.

And as far as I've seen no one has ever come up with a Bladesinger build that isn't a flavor build. They're just not for min/maxers. The restrictions are too prohibitive to allow max dps/survival in DDO, but they're fun.

I have tried out several versions of the melee wizard, IMO the one that worked best was conjuration archmage, 17 wiz 2 monk 1 rogue, warforged THF.

you basically web everything, then lunge in with a greatsword/axe and lay them to rest. acid rain when they need some softening up.
you can play this build as a straight up melee + buffs, as a straight up caster when needed, or a mix of both. depending on situation.
oh yeah, it can also trap....
