A relatively straight forward change that I recommend is changing

Sun Elf Intelligence: to Sun Elf Intelligence or Sun Elf Wisdom.

This would help make Sun Elves feel a little better as a character. Right now the character feels a little off due to the cleric / int conflict.

    Ok let's look at this

Rogue Iconic -> Shadar-Kai...perfect fluff for an Assassin rogue...dweller of shadows and all that and fits into the storyline that their going with.

Paladin Iconic -> Bladeforged...99% of BF are Paladins and honestly the devs are giving us a break by not stripping our Paladin powers when we basically tell the Lord of Blades to shove it when we take a different class :P So yeah this ones fits perfect

Fighter Iconic -> PDK...Ignoring the fact that this iconic will likely work best as a 2 splash to a charisma based class this is a perfect iconic for the generic realms PDKs are quite awesome and their abilities fit perfectly, lastly PDKs are mostly human so that fits fine.

Cleric Iconic -> Elven Cleric who worships Amaunator who is primarily worshipped by Humans and Aasimar so not sure where elves come in actually from what I recall of the generic realms elves are very recluse and rarely deal with other races (also Cormyr seems to only be 4% elves) nor are they Iconic clerics...elves are masters of mixing martial and arcane...nothing divine. this really should have been Aasimar which would have followed the pattern of the other 3 an existing model with some unique visual effects and abilities (basically a human with glowing eyes or an aura of light or something) this would also give them +2 Wis/Cha instead of +int.

So yeah imo the cleric "iconic" fails at being iconic because its not an iconic cleric race

Actually I'm kind of surprised they went with a Morninglord Cleric Iconic instead of another Cormyr related class like a Cormyrian War Wizard or something. Personally I would have preferred to have seen 2 Generic Realms Iconics and 2 Eberron Iconics..maybe a House Cannith Gnome Artificer (+2 Int/Dex, - 2 Str/Wis) a Gnomish tinkerer now THATS iconic.

This was a missed opportunity devs before deciding on what you guys thought was "Iconic" you should ave run a random contest or thread with the title like "Post your best/favorite PnP character" this would have given you a general idea of what people think is awesome/iconic w/o giving away anything or hell you could not be all cloak and dagger about it and just ask us...hey what class/race combos do you guys think are iconic...than just develop the ones you liked from the more popular ones.

I'll post about the actual enhancements when Lama comes back up

COme on people we need more feedback on this "Iconic" class...it's pointless everyuthing is either a detriment or complete unrelated to being a cleric (except the actually morninglord abilities which would have fit nicely in a Cleric Prestige class). Please speak up if you have an issue with this otherwise nothing will be changed. Hell speak up if you LIKE it..and have some reason why you think an Elf is an Iconic Cleric...provide reasoning please.

    Default Why not Gray Orcs?

Premise: I'm suggesting an Iconic Cleric race, not an Iconic Morninglord one.

Someone suggested Aasimar. This idea is plain good, surely better than Sun Elves. But I'm here to suggest another race.
He's from Forgotten Realms, we can say he's an iconic cleric race for various reasons (explained below) and he's simply too lovely. Ladies and gentlemen, the Gray Orc.

    WHY I SUGGEST GRAY ORCS:
    - they are a very faerun-thematic race
    - their tribes are governed by clerics
    - they perfectly fits the warpriest theme but are well suited for other roles (except exorcists)
    - they tend to worship orc gods, so they are more likely to be Iconic worshipping Gruumsh than Sun Elves worshipping Amaunator.

    -----

Gray Orcs are less bestial than their more savage kin but still obviously nonhuman. Their faces are less porcine than the typical orc, with the exception of their tusks. They are also much more apt to wear 'civilized' clothing than their distant kin and their skin tones are gray.

Gray Orcs can be just as mean, savage and barbaric as their northern cousins, but they lack the same lust for aggression that their kin are so reknown for. A typical Gray Orc is quite likely to react suddenly and irrationally to events, trusting to his heart and instincts more readily than logic. Unlike other Orcs, many Gray Orcs have adapted to live alongside the other races and can often be found in large settlements where individuals or even clans may migrate to live and share their cultures.

Compared to other Orcs, a Gray Orc is more eloquent with a better sense of hygeine (although not perfect) and takes better care of his or her belongings…an action which often translates to other areas of the Orc's life such as friendships.

    -----

    CLERIC STUFF:

Rarely does a Gray Orc take up the trade of an Arcanist, it is more likely any with a magical talent would take up the Divine arts, although it is near unheard of for a Gray Orc to train as a Druid. (divine but not druid - - -> CLERIC )
The true power behind a tribe of gray orcs is not the chieftain, but the tribe's high priest, typically an adept or a CLERIC (often female), who has held the position for many years. The gray orcs are zealots, and THE WORD OF THEIR TRIBAL CLERIC IS LAW.

Gray orcs worship all the various orc deities equally. They acknowledge Gruumsh as the leader of the orc gods, but a typical gray orc doesn't feel bound to worship him above any other deity, and usually selects a deity that most closely aligns with that orc's particular interests and temperament. Most of the orcs of a particular tribe worship the same deity.

    Gray Orc:

+2 Strength, -2 Intelligence, +2 Wisdom, -2 Charisma: Gray Orcs are not as strong as other Orcs but they tend to be more independant and strong willed.
Medium: Gray Orcs are Medium creatures and have no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
Fast Speed: Gray Orcs have a speed of 40 feet. Their gait is long and loping and they can cover great distances quickly. (can be +10% movement in DDO)
Darkvision: Gray Orcs can see in the dark up to 60 feet.
Intimidating: Gray Orcs receive a +2 racial bonus on Intimidate skill checks due to the fearsome reputation of their kin.
Orc Blood: Gray Orcs count as Orcs for any effect related to race.
Weapon Familiarity: Gray Orcs are proficient with greataxes and longbows and treat any weapon with the word “orc” in its name as a martial weapon. (greataxe-longbow enhancement line)

What do you think about it?

Elf clerics in particular Sun Elf clerics are pretty common in the Forgotten Realms books, comics, and games. Vartan Hai Sylvar is one of the main characters in the forgotten realms comics, while Aerie was a major character for a large number of players of Baldur's Gate 2. In Neverwinter Nights there was the very funny Linu La'neral. There is also Filsaelene Merwyst from Forsaken House. The list goes on for awhile. There is no doubt that humans / drow are the most common clerics, but after those two elves would be next.

However, my favorite sun elf has to be Jander Sunstar who was a devout follower of Lathander (aka Amaunator). I wonder if that was where they got the inspiration for the iconic.
