Default Dear Warner Brothers, Thanks for nothing

I first joined DDO on January 7th 2007, as did my dad and brother. i was 11 at the time and it was my first real MMO. I played It all the way to the age of 15 and then I quit. I attempted to play it a few months back and I was somewhat saddened by how much it had conformed to the new type of player that has joined since the free update. I initially thought that the free update would be a great thing, I could get my friends in on it so we could all group together. It wasn't so. The only people to join were the members of the new generation of gamers, one that wants everything handed to them so they don't have to think. These idiots were frustrated at first to be sure; they found they couldn't run in and zerg-rush solo everything on any class they wanted, they actually had to think about their builds and get in groups. They even had to do unthinkable things like working together with other people and take advice from others instead of ignoring it. They didn't like this one bit, so what did they do? They complained, asked for nerfs on everything, and awesome gear from every quest. Instead of ignoring these voices what did the new turbine, now owned by Warner Brothers do? THEY LISTENED! The nerf bat struck softly at first, like moving the fire trap box in shan-to-kor and making cash shop potions. We also got quest lines with really OPed gear. (chronoscope, Droamm series, etc.) Healing clerics are now obsolete since the invention of ship buffs and all the new gear. Sorcerers have unlimited powerful spells thanks to inherent abilities that don't go up in spell point cost even though they are affected by meta-magics. Recently I also saw a wizard who was capable of easily soloing the first arena in tor on elite. He was level 17. The dragons in tor are just a joke now, what used to be a long drawn out battle that could frequently cause wipes if not planned carefully, has turned into a kite the mob through the firewall situation. Old quests that have been a part of the game almost since launch, like the goodblade quests were recycled by lazy developers to create their new, damnable korthos island. The old narrations were cut and replaced by a mediocre narrator (some even kept the same script as the old ones.) Quests that didn't need a change, were changed anyway (Tor again). Crucible is no longer a requirement for the reaver raid because it was "too hard". After the nerfs the crucible can't even live up to the reputation it used to hold as a severe rage inducing quest. Finally, True Reincarnation has turned this game into just another big xp farm where people stare at the the end of the road so long they forget to enjoy the journey. Consider this rant the resignation of Rennac, Sandthefloor Danielsan, Brindlebur Firestarter, and all of the other people who saw their favorite game changed by Warner Brothers for their own personal gain. I encourage anyone who wishes to see this game returned to the way it was around the time Meridia was released to boycott this horrible company who wishes only to suck the money from the parents of idiotic kids who instead of forcing the game to conform, should have conformed to the game.

Most of that stuff you are talking about happened way before Warner Brothers took over. Also, you are the first person i've ever heard refer to attack on stormreach gear as over powered. Since you seem to miss rage inducing frustration, couldn't you just play through the entire game using only starter gear?

You think it should be aimed 11 year olds? I'm confused.

Your formatting is terrible btw, you should really fix that. I struggled to read a bit more.

So you are leaving but you've been gone for so long that you only have rubbish stuff, so no point asking for it.

And you are asking others to quit the game that you've not supported for the past few years?

    Seeya later kid.

Yes, DDO has been "Crucibled" since the last time you played.
Advocating repeated nerfs in the name of "balancing the game" then complaining about how DDO is moving away from D&D, is a direct contradiction in logic - D&D 3.5 (what DDO is based on) is not a balanced game. We can either have a balanced clone MMO with homogenized classes, or we can have a D&D game. We cant have both.

I quit posts are always entertaining.... You left for a couple years and came back to find that the game changed so you are leaving. 1/10 on the rant scale

PS I don't want your stuff

Why don't people ever break rage quit posts into paragraphs. Is that some unwritten MMO rule I don't know about?

Apparently I didn't explain myself adequately; I have no problem with younger people playing MMO's if they are willing to learn how to play them.

It might be an age thing, too. Young people have a higher probability of not knowing how to write. Writing properly is becoming a forgotten art. After I figured out the op's age on my fingers, I was just thankful that he wrote out entire words and it wasn't like some garbled text message with a ton of @'s and #'s. Though paragraphs would have made reading the post much easier.

Yeah, dont you hate it when, after loosing some of their player base, an MMO tries to appeal to the player base it still has in order to retain them?

    Wait, what?

So you played for about four years, quit, and now you are upset that the game you stopped paying for two years ago stopped trying to appeal to you?
The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get old ones out. Every mind is a building filled with archaic furniture. Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it.
