    Default Elven AA/Warchanter

The goal of this build is to sit in the back of a group firing away arrows and swapping to heals / buffs here/there as needed.

I went with Ranger splash for the bow talents and nice Dex enhancements. I went Bard 16 instead of 14 or 12 because I wanted to have a decent amount of good spells.

I know it needs some tweaking, especially with the stats (pumped dex instead of str) and definatly with the Enhancements (didn't pickup Char II or Extra Song I, got some other "not-as-important" Enhancement instead).

Rgr 4 gets you Precise Shot + Ram's Might; however I would consider rgr 2 with either ftr 2 (1 extra feat, Haste Boost I, STR 1 enh) or rog 2 (Evasion, 1d6+3 SA, trap skills). See my Bardcher thread for examples.

Ninja-ed by unbongwah while typing, so edited to contain some further info.

Basically, check his signature, great info there. Current norm for going Bard AA is 16/2/2 Bard/Fighter/Ranger as it gives much more feats, and you need those. Badly. Really badly.

Some of your plans might not be too relevant - try to give them some additional thoughts.

Ranger for Dex enhancements - please note that you get such enhancement at lvl2 and if you did it just for that, you can freely stop there. Lvl3 ranger brings you useless feat (Diehard) and Lvl4 gets you Precise Shot and a spell (Ram's Might). Compare this to 2 fighter levels (+2 Enhancement to Str, and 2 feats) and it is more like comparing 1 feat of your choice + permanent +1 to Str to Diehard and Ram's Might. And believe me, you want feats more.

The crucial question is what you want to achieve with the build... you started to type Elven AA Warchanter, where I would start asking Elf? Not Half-Elf? and Warchanter? Not some other Prestige? Why?

Elf vs Half-Elf - access to AA is the same, but Half-Elf currently might be a better option - you got another feat for free (Dilletante), your preferred stat distribution is cheaper and you have access to human enhancements - the elf-only ones might not be that superb for AA Bard, whereas at half elf you may get healing amplification, boosts to any stats you want as opposed to Dex only for elf and Human Versatility. For me, Half-Elf wins full time, in current system. After enhancement revamp, all might be completely different, but... and, Half-Elf is paid (might not have access to it).

Warchanter vs Virtuoso/Spellsinger - basically you found the weakest prestige. What it will bring you? Medium Armor proficiency (you already have it) and 0 ASF while casting in Med armor (this one is good). You can reduce your ASF by other means, though, so that does not shine that much. What else? Bonus to Inspire Courage... hm, that is +2 damage. Not bad, not good either. And then - songs - not useful ones. What Warchanter costs you? 2 feats which you will not use if you plan on shooting - Power Attack and WF:Slash/Pierce/Blunt. Very expensive choice, where Virtuoso costs no feats and Spellsinger costs just 1 and possible useful one, and bring good stuff to the equation (longer songs, good CC songs or quite a lot SP and good songs to keep your SP up).

    Feats you want to take:
Weapon Focus: Ranged (you have to have this one... not nice)
    Point Blank Shot
    Rapid Shot (Ranger 2 bonus)
    Improved Critical: Ranged
    Precise Shot
    Improved Precise Shot
    Manyshot

Even now it is 6 feats out of 7 you get till lvl 20, and that is without prestige. Count in Power Attack and Weapon Focus/Slash and you are at 8 feats consumed, which means you still miss Toughness, Extend, Empower Healing/Maximize, Quicken, ... Go 16/2/2 Virtuoso base, take the above mentioned and you still have 3 more feats to choose.

And lastly, stat distribution... you do not need Wis by any means. Even if that seems odd, you do not need Charisma either - just ensure that with items and buffs on, you will be able to cast spells appropriate to your level. I personally go for casting even after drinking SF pot (which is I need stat of 26 with everything included), but you might see it different. On the other hand, you need Str and Dex mainly, so on your place and with 32-point build I would go 16/16/14/10/8/12.

    Just my 2 cents.

PS... for reference, you might want to check Tirain build from my signature too, although I wouldn't recommend it to you if you do not have the items stashed from past lives.

BTW, on Lami they dropped the feat pre-reqs for AA (and most other PrEs, AFAICT); you'll still need PBS (pre-req for MS & IPS), but at least we'll be able to replace WF:Ranged with something more useful. Also, while I'm not a huge fan of how they've changed Toughness & HPs (in particular, getting rid of Toughness enhs), Toughness will be way less of a must-have if the changes carry over to live as-is.

I actually have an idea for a DEX-based TWF+ranged elven Bardcher I wanna test out on Lami. HE w/rog dilly would be better DPS, frankly, but...enh, I'm sick of HE butterfaces.
