    Default Concordant Opposition Question

I was looking at a green steel planner and it seems if you choose Concordant Opposition you also get +6 Wisdom - is that correct? I want to make an item for my Sorcerer and I would far prefer +6 CHA to WIS. Why can you choose between +1/2/3 INT/WIS/CHA but Concordant Opposition only includes +6 WIS?

The +6 Wis on Concordant Opposition is part of the static "special" bonus you get from putting your item together in a specific combination. This is the ONLY way you can get a stat bonus on a non-weapon greensteel item, by the way, otherwise you have to make a weapon. It's a balance thing, like how you can't choose to get Lightning Strike on a Smoke item or Heavy Fortification on an Air item.

You also can't choose between +1/2/3 int/wis/cha. The +1/2/3 is a bonus to int/wis/cha SKILLS, not the statistic itself. You are limited to elemental types (Fire/Air/Water/Earth) and WEAPONS ONLY for actual stat bonuses otherwise, and it goes +6/+1 exceptional/+2 insightful by tier.

Also, according to the current Lammania release notes, exceptional skill bonuses are going to a.) double in value and b.) no longer stack with differing values. So if you decide to make a conc op item, you may want to do what you can to make sure that the skill bonuses are to DIFFERENT skills otherwise they won't stack after the update.

If you want to maximize your value from a conc opp item, this is probably the configuration you want to go for:

Tier 1: Minor Good Guard or +10 hp/+1 con skills This is kind of a throwaway bonus because you can get FAR superior Wizardry-type spell point items elsewhere and taking this as a positive-type bonus lets you get +2 int skills which will become +4. After the expansion hits in mid-August there will be a new skill called Spellcraft which is an Int skill and adds to your spellpower for pretty much all the damaging spells a sorc will ever use. So you will want to have all the bonuses there you can get. Get the minor good guard *only* if you plan to have a second item that gives you all 3 greensteel stacking HP bonuses, otherwise get the hp/con skills.

    Tier 2: +50 SP/+2 Int skills.

Tier 3: dual-imbued +100 sp/+3 int skills and +100 sp/+3 cha skills. The bonus you will actually get is the cha skills which will give you +6 UMD after the update, critically valuable for any sorcerer that isn't warforged. If you are warforged, eh, at least you can use raise dead scrolls this way.

If you want a greensteel CHA item, you should probably make a triple-positive +6/+1/+2 scepter or similar--triple air is pretty cheap ingredients wise (only need 1 supreme shard because it's a single-imbue on tier three) AND this gets you a raise dead clickie. Triple air (the other option for Cha) only gets you a haste clickie and you can cast haste whenever.

Thanks for the explanation. Yea, I meant +1/2/3 to stat skills. I still don't understand why its balanced to only offer WIS but I mainly wanted to make sure that was the only option with Conc Opp and I wasn't missing some way to change it.

Thanks also for the recommendation and info about the enhancement stuff.
