Default Turn the tide restrictions, what's the point?

First, the obvious one. The sonic+light damage not affecting red-named bosses. It's obviously a design decision, since it's on the tooltip. I don't see what the difference between being able to take down a boss quickly and being able to clear a room full of trash quickly is. Since there are a lot of quests where the trash is negligible, it makes the epic moment a lot more useless in several quests/raids. Sure, the +40% damage and other effects still apply, but they aren't nearly as big. Red name immunities seem like they should just apply to things that trivialize the fight, mainly, CC abilities, instakills, and certain debuffs. Extra damage doesn't trivialize a boss fight any more than you can roflstomp trash with the same damage. No other damage ability (not counting helpless effects) are prevented in boss fights.

Second, the cooldown it creates when you use it makes it really hard to use in difficult content. Maybe not for a barbarian who just has to swing away, activate clickies now and then and twitch around to avoid as many hits as he can, but for most characters, not having access to your spells, potions, scrolls, and more (i.e., pretty much anything on your hotbars) for 10 seconds can make the whole ability not worth it. And if you use it 10 seconds before you rush into battle, letting the cooldown tick off before you make use of it, there's barely any time left to take advantage of it unless you're a bard with lots of song length enhancements.

    Default I agree

I agree with you 100%. None of the other "epic moments" really have any restrictions. A barbarian can use his/her epic moment and crit for thousands of points of damage every 3 seconds but we cant get our measly 10D10 + 150 of sonic and electric damage per hit? The legendary dreadnoughts can run in to the final battle dishing out 250% more damage (if they are all pumped up) per hit and we get 40% ? The +4 to charisma does absolutely nothing for us in a scrum, and the 15 DR in EE is pointless when they are hitting you for hundreds per hit. Oh i just got hit for 300 thank god I had 15 of it blocked by my DR.

Sometimes I click it on my bard (not my favored soul though) and only get +2, so there's also something it doesn't stack with. I'm thinking yugo pots but not totally sure.

Last time I was high enough level (which granted was before the expansion) to be a Spellsinger the bonus damage worked on Harry in Shroud. I didn't really have a chance to go around testing it on other bosses in other raids. I don't know if they ever fixed it to not affect him.

I think this deserves a necro now that bards are getting overhauled. Why would their high end ED ability not work on bosses? Seems like all the other top tier ED shouldn't work on bosses if this one isn't going to. No more master's blitz or adrenaline overload, then we'd have some balance.

Now they're changing blitz so it's more balanced and more useful in long boss fights.
Well, letting Turn the Tide work on bosses would balance things even more.
