Default New Player Seeking Major Help!

Hello, I found out about this game and I thought it was pretty cool, so I'm deciding to give this game a shot. Though I am new to this game which means I know nothing about this game. So I need all the help I can get PLEASE!!! I was thinking of starting off with a Melee Fighter class. I don't know what path, rage, stats, etc., I should be using for a Melee Fighter. So can anybody help me out with this please? Thank You!

try downloading this planner it will allow you to build a toon to level 25 and set your enhcancements and whatnot. There is really way more to melee than just that do you want to be 2 handed fighter, 2 weapon fighter, sword and board, monksplash the list could continue. Heck hard to really mess up a fighter. give him a lot of str, con and respectable dex for saves say 16's and 14's take power attack cleave and great cleave and then any feats you need for Prestiges. Kensai and sentinel are both good

For your first character, Fighter is a good choice. Max out your str and con and dump the rest in either dex or intel. Dex will help with your reflex saves, intel will give you more skill points to spend.

Don't take the premade paths...you want to go custom. The premade paths are not very good, and don't really help you learn. Don't be afraid to run a few quests to get the feel of things and if you don't like your character, delete him and re roll. I deleted and re rolled many times when I first found DDO.

For feats...toughness is always a good one to take. Power Attack, Cleave, Great Cleave, Improved Critical are also important on a fighter. Fighters get a lot of feats, so feel free to experiment.

It is pretty hard to mess up a Fighter. Have fun...I think you will enjoy DDO.

PS....you made a great start by coming to the forums for advice. There is tons of good info out here.

I would recommend to put INT to 12 then max out STR and CON as evenly as possible, skill points are very handy at levels and you will want the following:

Jump - 10 complete ranks only since your STR modifier will add to this plus items and potions and the skill caps out at 40 anyway.
Intimidate - max this out at all levels, as a fighter you need to be able to take agro when needed from the more squishy classes in the group.
Balance - extremely handy since it makes it faster to get up when you have been tripped or otherwise knocked over, the faster you can stand up the faster you can get back to killing things

Those are the main ones in my honest opinion once you get more gear and tomes then you can lesser reincarnate which will allow you re-do your character from level 1 back to where you were (this will get you the most of out INT tomes), other skills to consider are:

Haggle - make more money when selling to vendors it will also give you cheaper prices for stuff too which is always handy.
UMD - This is extremely useful but takes time to get to usable levels.

As for feats then I recommend the following:

    Toughness.
    Power Attack.
    Cleave.
    Great Cleave.

Cleave and Great Cleave are awesome for crowd control since you just kill everything around you
