Default How many essences needed to make 150 crafting levels?

Currently, I've ground many stuff to get essences, and now It's overflowing my ingredient bags. but I'm not sure It's enough to make crafting completionist.

    Essence Lesser / Greater
    Law : 2,245 / 320
    Chaos : 2,566 / 361
    Good : 3,267 / 707
    Evil : 5,699 / 733
    Divine : 4,508 / 636
    Mind : 10,557 / 671
    Arcane : 4,268 / 1,059
    Body : 5,490 / 1,021
    Earth : 3,944 / 620
    Air : 3,667 / 733
    Fire : 4,031 / 701
    Water : 4,121 / 576

Is it enough to make 150 crafting levels? or lack still?

and another question, which crafting recipe is commandeered to get XP? Just get top recipes of efficient option on the menu?

just a guess, but I strongly suspect those will get you less than half way there, with the free 5% Cannith favor crafting xp pots.

Did you really collect all those and not start crafting yet? What's the point of waiting until you have all the essences you need? I Believe you'll find that about half way to level 50 on just one school you'll want to stop and slam your head in a door before you resort and re-scroll and find another 60% recipe that gives okay XP and doesn't use a collectable... Yes to maximize your resources you will need to re-sort and scroll to avoid waste, and not only that you'll probably be sundering some greaters as well as lessers get used up faster than you expect. Often faster than greaters, and not to mention you'll need to go back and forth from the bound shard maker to the unbound shard maker to find the lowest cost recipe that has the highest XP in each crafting school.

You will wish you did it the slow and gradual way instead of trying to get all your resources and then do a marathon. I am just taking a wild guess but based on the laggy interface (maddeningly laggy and unresponsive) the buggy UI (you'll need to close and restart the barter UI multiple times to allow you to select the recipee and get a "craft" button to press)... along with meals and BIO's and sanity breaks... a wild guess... probably take you a week of clicking to get to 150 in all three assuming 8 hour game sessions, and you'll probably want to shoot your computer after day 1.

The last time I leveled crafting from zero and kept track of the essence usage, I believe I used about 4500 greater essences (including lessers converted from greaters) to get high enough to create Holy Burst of Greater Bane.

Your essence totals look to me as though you've got enough to get your levels above 100, but I don't think enough to get to 150 in all schools. Having said that, it's not necessary to get to 150/150/150. 140/140/136 should be enough to allow you to reliably craft anything you'd care to.

Top recipes of efficient XP/shard consumption is fine.

Above crafting level 45, using largest crafting XP boost potion is efficient. If you set yourself anonymous, clear your inventory so you have much working room, and do nothing but craft shards (no essence conversion or deconstruction) for the duration of the crafting potion, you would use I think less than 10 potions to consume most of your essences.

There are some slow levels where efficient recipes are sparse - Several percent success boosters are reasonable to use for expensive recipes needed to bridge levels to unlock more efficient recipes.

At the highest levels, most recipes use Body and Mind essences. Avoid using them at the lower levels so you have plenty for higher levels.

I do some part time crafting for my lower level characters, am about level 60 and, given that essence cost per level progression stays as it is, would say that you likely wont pass level 80, that is if you take the maximum out of it, selecting all the best shards and use at least some experience and +chance elixirs.
That already makes for some pretty good self crafting though.

I've made it to the mid 130s with 17XX shards crafted and 13XXX decons as well as using nearly all the essences I've gathered over the nearly two years Ive spent in the process.

    Hope that helps.

    Not enough in my opinion.

    1. Remember, if you make shards you cannot use, then you can deconstruct them. I did not know this in the beginning.

    2. You will need shards of POTENTIAL. Definitely craft these and put these in your bag. These will devour essences in huge quantities. To make a +6 Shard of Potential takes 75 lessers. You will want to make higher level shards of potential, and their costs go up as you go higher. At level 29 or so, you can start to make Shards of Potential of +6 at around an 80% chance of success. I craft four of these each time.

    3. Do daily dice and save up your crafting leveling boosters. Wait for a Booster weekend. Have not had one in a LONG, LONG time.

    4. Crafting for yourself is at lower levels. If you want to craft for others it is at higher levels. What I am saying is, to craft a Shard of Potential +6 for YOUR account is at level 30, but if you want to craft a shard of Potential +6 for anyone else to use it is at level 60.

I agree with everyone else, it is a HUGE grind. Maddeningly mind numbing. My advice, look at what shard you want created, see if you have the necessary essences, and put in trade channel you need XYZ shards, you have all the essences needed and you are willing to compensate for time and if some pain in the derriere item is needed, to compensate for that also.

Some rare items(Marks of XYZ) or collectables can be very difficult to find.

I don't think you will get close to 150 based on what you have. I would just get as far as you can and then periodically do some crafting when you have sufficient essences and have a crafting xp elixir from the daily dice or a drop. I would hold off on any big crafting sessions until you get a crafting xp elixir either as a free item of the week, daily dice or as a drop. I think you may be able to get those other ways as well - not sure.

At higher levels, the bigger issue is going to be purified eberron dragonshard fragments. Those are extremely rare drops, but you can get those from tomes including the tomes from the birthday boxes. The tomes from birthday boxes are btc but once you convert the tome to purified eberron dragonshard fragments they are bta. So use those birthday boxes in any toons you have that don't need the +2 tome.

You can do simple math to determine xp/greater by dividing the xp of a potential crafting recipe by (greaters + 5* lessers). It's not perfect, but it's a decent benchmark for the benefit/cost ratio. You also may run into problems with collectibles like glittering dust and powdered blood if you are in the habit of selling those or don't pick up collectibles in quests.

Keep checking between the bound and unbound machine to see where best xp/essence is. I find when I get stuck with recipes on the bound machine I can usually find better recipes on the unbound machine.

You used to be able to break down unneeded shards for more essences. I believe this was nerfed some, but I think you can still do it.

This is the way I'd do it if I were you. Start by selecting one school. Then sort the list by XP...that will usually end up putting them in ascending order of success percentage. Choose a level of success you're comfortable with - 65%, 70% or whatever - and choose whichever recipe gives you the highest XP/Greater Essence cost. Repeat that recipe until its no longer the optimal, then switch to whatever is now best. Avoid recipes with collectable components, obviously, unless you have a whole bunch of the collectable.

Start off on the Bound terminal till maybe L60-70, then you can jump over to the Unbound terminal, where recipes are higher level and give more XP. Once you've exhausted the Unbound ones, go back to the Bound terminal and graduate to Flexible recipes.

As has been stated above, there are many factors...

First, a few assumptions. Concentrate your efforts on one Alt. You can then consolidate all your essences and materials in one place. Any alt can craft shards onto blanks... that only requires 1 level in crafting from what I've seen, and you can pass unbound shards to the desired Alt.

Tips I've learned. Your mileage may vary:

1). Crafting success rate. If your eyes are too big for your ability you will waste a lot of essences. I do not attempt anything less than a 70% success rate shard. Lower success rates give more experience but at greater risk of failure.

2). Careful selection of shards. Bound shards are easier and usually cheaper to craft. As has been said above you can always deconstruct what you make and go again until you run out of essences. Also, some shards may use a greater amount of essences and return the same XP. Check for the best XP/cost ratio shards. At some point, maybe in the 40s, unbound shards worth keeping become feasible.

3). Don't try to do it all in one sitting. I don't think even the huge bags hold stacks large enough for a full 150 levels. I play on all my Alts for a month or so then consolidate all the essences on my crafting Arty and make two or three levels in each school at a time. I am within a couple of levels of 50 in each school now on my crafter and am finally able to make shards worth keeping.

I don't treat crafting like a grind. Nor do I do so with things like Greensteel or any other collectable in the game. If you do so you will sour on things quickly and contribute to the negative vibes in these forums. If you get tired of crafting go do something else for a while, then come back to it when you have a bag full of essences and it's a welcome break from what you have been doing.

The Free Agents merchant in the Marketplace sells Crude Vials. These will be your best friend each time you reach a crafting level on a 10 (40, 50, etc). Buy Crude Vials in mass quanities (fill inventory pages). Use them to make bound and unbound Shards of Potential. Enjoy some very cheap levels.

The last 10 levels, particularly the last 5 levels in divine and elemental
are very difficult. Simply the lack of shards to craft and the need
    for special materials.

I spread them out over about 8+ lives,
using the TR resets crafting xp option.

But as others said, at the moment you don't need the last 10 levels anyway.

Actually if you craft for yourself, you only need in the 90s or less.

That is not remotely enough to get to level 150 in three schools. It is enough to get you some decent crafting ability however. Once you can make +6 stat items, Greater False life, crafting becomes quite useful while TR'ing. This is especially true if you get enough Cannith favor to buy the ingredient for masterful craftsmanship. This is a very powerful option. If you are lucky enough to have some old guild augment items you can make very nice twink gear.

I have an Arti at 150/148/148. She has been stuck there forever because all the xp has been drained from the system. There is nothing she can make that will give her anything more than 0. Fortunately, because she is Arti, she has effectively 150/150/150. But the only way I can finish the real levels now is through deconstruction. It will take another 2000 or so items at +5 xp a pop to get there. She has so many lessers, I put them up on the AH 10000 at a time.

Moral of the story. Forget about 150 (for now), but if you can get in the 70s to 90s, it's pretty worth it.

Yeah, this ^^ in a big way.

As said, as soon as you hit a factor of ten level, craft shards of potential with crude vials and a greater crafting exp. elixir going. Craft bound and unbound shards until they don't give you anymore xp. That will get you most of the way to the next x10 level. The shards from this are not decontructable, but they are the most useful shards in the game. You use them and make more. Ofc, always use crude vials to make them, regardless.

Aside from that and as was said elsewhere, you can decon the shards you make that have no use.

Imo, don't try and do it overnight. use the crude vials for all they're worth, but once you hit a slow point, just decon stuff (use the minor elixirs from house C for everything, even decon) and rake the essences, xp and plat from that. Occassionally you might want to do a flurry of shard making, but it's not worth the expense, again imo.

    Edit:
Just wanted to add that this is important too:
