    Post 1 Rogue/19 Tempest 28-Point Build

    1 Rogue/19 Tempest 28-Point Build
He can pick locks, disable traps, hold his own in battle, UMD, and buff/heal the party. He's a "jack of all trades, but master of none."

    ABILITIES
too much dex. start at 13 (or 12 with a +1 tome, but that'll mess up feat progression a bit, careful)
too much int. I am sure you can do with less
too much wis. 8 is enough. +3 wis item at level 5 to start casting
    get STR and CON

definitely add at least one fighter level instead of ranger 19. more fighter levels also possible, e.g. 4. Tempest III is not so strong
    ability increase: STR always

    FEATS
    toughness, PA, IC:Slash, dodge/mobility/spring attack
    drop OTWF, combat experise

get Two Weapon Defense instead of OTWF to qualify for Tempest 3
get Empower Healing for self-sufficiency and versatility
or IC:Ranged for more fun with Manyshot
with fighter level(s), you can pick up Cleave/GCleave (to qualify for overwhelming crit)

    ENHANCEMENTS
drop: favored attack, energy of the wild, energy resistance boost, desert/swamp/tundra lore, rogue damage boost I, and probably Improved skill thing, ranger dexterity I-II (unless you have too many AP free)
get: Ranger Sprint Boost I, Favored damage 2+, devotion 3+, human heal amplification 2+, adaptability should go to STR and probably CON

Two Weapon Defense, as you suggested below, requires DEX 15 (http://ddowiki.com/page/Two_Weapon_Defense)

INT 14 is required if you want to keep Balance, Search, Disable Devices, Open Lock, and UMD maxed http://ddowiki.com/page/Syndeo's_Gui...ger#Base_Stats

I agree that WIS could be dropped down some for more STR/CON, but does help with Will Saves.

I had thought about that, but would hurt keeping Rogue skills maxed.

Personal preference. Some people like active offensive clickies, and some don't.

Either Oversized Two Weapon Fighting or Two Weapon Defense will qualify you for Tempest 3
    (http://ddowiki.com/page/Tempest_enhancements)

Speaking of feats, one could easily switch out the last couple of active offensive melee clickies (Combat Expertise and Power Attack) for other types, depending upon what kind of character they wish to play...

    • Passive Defensive Melee: Two Weapon Defense (as suggested) and Two Weapon Blocking
    • Better/Longer Spells: Empower Healing Spell (as suggested) and Extend Spell
    • Better Ranged: Improved Critical-Ranged (as suggested) and Point Blank Shot

I did the Energy Resistance Boosts and Desert/Swamp/Tundra Lore for failed traps and fighting casters. Some people love energy/spell resistance, some don't; but definitely good ideas. Thanks for the suggestions!

See my Tempest trapmonkey thread. Rgr 19 adds nothing; either rog 2 for W&S Mastery I, a ftr or monk splash for extra feat, or maybe barb splash for +10% run speed make more sense. I'd also say you've spread your stats too thin; in particular you don't need so much base WIS (INT is a matter of personal priorities).

Cool, thanks for the suggestion! I've looked over the builds you posted, and reworking my build based upon what you posted:
    https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...%29?highlight=

I will admit that I'm a little precarious about dropping WIS down to 8, and hoping for a +6 WIS item before level 14. However, I could drop WIS down to 10, and raise STR by 1 ability point to 15.

Personally, I'd only put one point into Tumble and put skill points into something else (http://ddowiki.com/page/Syndeo's_Gui...e#Skill_Points)

Spot is another skill I wouldn't spend many points into. I've got two LCDs, and play DDO on one with a quest map on the other; so I know where most of the traps are located. Like Tumble, I'd only put points into Spot only if I've maxed-out everything else I prioritize (Balance, Disable Device, Open Lock, Search, UMD, etc.)

The biggest issues I was running into was trying to decide which Human Ranger enhancements to choose. I'm used to playing Clerics and Fighters (easier choices); but basically, these are what you would normally choose:
    Code:
    Human Adaptability Constitution 1
    Human Greater Adaptability Strength 1
    Human Improved Recovery 1 - 3
    Human Versatility 1 - 4
Barbarian Power Attack 1 (if applicable)
    Barbarian/Fighter Toughness 1 (if applicable)
    Racial Toughness 1 - 3
    Ranger Devotion 1 - 4
    Ranger Dexterity 1 - 2
    Ranger Favored Attack 1 - 3
    Ranger Favored Damage 1 - 4
    Ranger Favored Resistance 1
    Ranger Item Defense 1

    Ranger Tempest 1 - 3
    Rogue Improved Trap Sense 1
    Rogue Haste Boost 1
    Rogue Sneak Attack Training 1
Rogue Wand and Scroll Mastery 1
Not a big fan of any energy/spell resistance? I'll probably swap "Rogue Sneak Attack Training 1" and "Rogue Improved Trap Sense 1" for something else, but everything else looks good.

Stat pts are at a premium on 28-pt builds, so I don't like to squander them more than necessary. On my build, you need a +3 WIS item (or Owl's WIS) by lvl 5 or 6; fortunately, regular +3 stat items are ML:5. After that, you need to add +1 WIS every 3 or 4 lvls; it's usually not too expensive to buy them off the AH. If nothing else, Teraza's Sight is pretty easy to farm from a F2P quest, although I prefer to save my helm slot for other things (e.g., Minos Legens).
