Arrow The DOOM(tm) is coming with Update 20

Executive Producer Glin said that the Epic TR Iconic Tr thing is targeting update 20.
That would be relatively soon... or are turbine planning a long pause between XPAC and further updates???

Come to think of it, I remember Cordovan mentioned there might be another patch in mid June. When are we now?!?!

It is not unusual to go 3-4 months without an update, which would put U20 around November or December.

The standard update schedule (at least of late) seems to be February, May, August and November. MotU was an exception, as it was deferred one month to June because of its size (although, in hindsight, it could have benefited from being delayed far more than 1 month).

It is noteworthy that of the past 4 updates, 3 have been rather skimpy/uninspired

    1) Disciples of Shadow: 2 mediocre quests, a third if you pre-purchase the expansion
    2) Return to Gianthold: reskinned existing adventure pack, with one new raid
    3) High Road of Shadows: the one well done update of late
    4) Song of Druid's Deep: 4 mediocre quests, one challenge that would like to reach mediocrity

Toss in a few various and sundry game systems, the best of which is probably the Monster Manual.

The development team might want to consider

    1) Fixing all the broken systems
    2) Adding better quality of content
    3) Quit tinkering with existing systems that most players either like or at least find acceptable

Now of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I think Epic Gianthold was a pretty big hit, with a lot of players enjoying it. The raid too. I think I can safely say it was _the_ best update for a while now. Its on par with the first xpack in my eyes, and all those eveningstar quests are not bad either, loving Kings forest for one.

I agree, and at the same time find it odd that out of those examples, the best release was recycled old school content.

Kind of tells us the general difference between release quality then versus now, which explains the general mentality change in the content cycle itself.
Advocating repeated nerfs in the name of "balancing the game" then complaining about how DDO is moving away from D&D, is a direct contradiction in logic - D&D 3.5 (what DDO is based on) is not a balanced game. We can either have a balanced clone MMO with homogenized classes, or we can have a D&D game. We cant have both.
