To extrapolate on that same theme, this encounter requires very precise character control, as well as having very fast reaction time and the ability to get any spell you might need cast quickly. If you do not kill the Air Elemental quickly, it is likely it will put you on your back and get you killed. If you do not navigate the traps well, even when you get chained, it is possible for even one mistake to get you killed. If you do not remove your curses and self heal effectively, it is not likely that you will outlast the boss.
I think that the comment made about this encounter seeming like 'two parallel worlds' is quite apt. This is one of those situations where player control outweighs character capabilities. You can not simply come back with a mountain of HP and spell power that's been pumped through the roof and lay waste to everything. You do not need to be a Korean master of Actions Per Minute or anything, but mastering the skills needed to do things very quickly and effectively is the key to success in this battle. And once you have that kind of character control many different situations in the DDO world will likely be seen from a bit of a different perspective.
