Hey, sorry to bring in the bad news, but something's come up, and I won't be able to join in on the fun tonight as a main participant. Will I be able to participate in a run in the following weeks if RL allows (I.E. as a wildcard or something)?

    Thanks for letting us know.
Yes you can have a spot for next month.
    That leaves a spot open.

We also need to save two spots for people from the Halfling games.
I forgot which names but two of them are developing toons for this.

    Arena Stash
    10 minutes
    Deathmatch
    Hossa's team challenges Fawn's team.

Opsay having so much fun, forgot to take screenshots.

We discovered a big secret, if you press x (quest xp) the scoreboard comes up.
For some reason if you click on scoreboard on the quest box it does not appear.
But Hossa found the work around.
Fawngate had to reset her keyboard to obtain it.

    So we changed the rules.
Instead of -1 for dying, we made it 0 for dying.
That way we could just tally up the scores by looking at the scoreboard.

The whole event lasted about 3 hours.
We started the actual combat about 20 minutes after 8 pm est
    due to gathering up everyone.

We did have one entry show up late due to time zone difficulties.
    My sympathies.

Basing our operation in IQ gathering near the tavern worked well.
We had one player try to join with a level 3 but he dropped out
when he could not enter IQ and realized he would be at a disadvantage.
(Min level to enter IQ was dropped to level 4 a few updates ago.)

We used the IQ general chat which worked well.
We used two LFMs one put up by Hossa and one by Fawn to group for each round.
Round one was not random, just whoever joined whichever group
as it was a bit of a scramble at first.

Enough time was allowed after each round for bio and the like that some got ship buffs.
Perfectly legal as long as you did not have elemental resists.
Nice but they do disappear on death.

Here are the scores from each round:

    Round 1:

    Fawn's A Team:
Fawn 3 kills (Someone attacked Fawngate and her trap the soul guard triggered.)
    Consulo 4 kills
    Saxart 9 kills
    MiniV 0 kills -- eliminated
    Yoorashi 1 kill
    Champreturns 5 kills

    Hossa's Wild Mustangs:
    Goodkato 11 kills
    Pipkid 3 kills -- eliminated
    Savagesworst 13 kills
    Msboom 12 kills
    Testerbotye 19 kills

Round 2 after bio, score tally, and random reshuffling of teams:
(this round tested our making rules on the fly)

    Fawn's A Team:
    Fawngate 5 kills
Consulo 2 kills -- tie -- won high roll
Yoorashi 2 kills -- tie -- lost high roll
    Goodkato 10 kills
    Savageswort 8 kills

    Hossa's Wild Mustangs:
    Hossa 1 kill
    Saxart 15 kills
Champreturns 7 kills -- left in because Msboom dropped
Msboom 11 kills -- dropped out due to time issues
    Testerbotye 13 kills

Round 2 tie breaker 1 (1 min PVP)
    Consulo 0
    Yoorashi 0

Round 2 tie breaker 2 (1 min PVP)
    Consulo 0
    Yoorashi 0

    Round 2 tie breaker 3
    Consulo wins d100 high roll

Round 3 (after taking 5 min bio)
By this time, the byword of the day in Hossa's team is
watch out for Fawn she is throwing cometfalls, blade barriers,
    firestorms, etc randomly...

I saw a lot grease on the floor this round.

    Fawn's A Team
Fawn 1 -- she cast implosion early in the round
    Consulo 1
    Savageswort 0 -- eliminated
    Saxart 4

    Hossa's Wild Mustangs
    Hossa 0
    Goodkato 19
    Campreturns 7 -- eliminated
    Testerbotye 15

Round 4 after another bio break

This was the most dramatic round in the completion,
and excellent play by everyone. More grease on the floor.
Fawn was tailed by summons that she tried to diplo off of her.
One summons died when it attack Fawn.

    Fawn's A Team
Fawn 1 -- almost killed Hossa but he saved, sigh.
    Goodkato 14
    Consulo 0 -- eliminated

    Hossa's Wild Mustangs
Hossa 0 -- I did see him take a few wacks at someone.
    Testerbotye 4 -- eliminated
    Saxart 5

    Choices for random prizes:
Testerbotye received a +3 Str tome
Consulo received a Chocolate Box and a epic Madstone Skull

Final Round (15 minutes instead of 10)

The atmosphere of this round was more calculated.
You could feel the two players thinking.
I saw some very smart moves by both players.

    Fawn's A Team
    Fawn 1
Saxart 8 -- Winner of the First Hunger Games

    Hossa's Wild Mustangs
    Hossa 0
Goodkato 4 -- Runner up of the First Hunger Games

    Prizes awarded

Saxart received the EH Black Dragon Helm +8 Str,
20 Black Dragon Scales, and 250 k plat.

Goodkato received 20 tapestries, EH Axe of the Chain Solider,
    Drow Smoke Goggles.

We have obtained an EH +8 Wis Blue Dragon Helm, so next
months first prize set will be the Helm, 500 k plat, and
20 flawless Blue Dragon Scales. (The plat amount was raised
for this month due to donations.)

We had a grand time, and the players really enjoyed this immensely.
Thank you one and all for the donations they are appreciated.

As I stated before, I am not posting builds, but if others wish to they may.
That leaves the hunger games a bit mysterious.

May the odds ever be in your favor and if you see Fawn, RUN!

    Next time, had a blast.

Well the stratergy changes from 5vs5 to 3vss and 1vs1.
The first round had a measure of luck involved since the teams were rather large you'd find yourself more often then not ganging up with your team mates on the same target when only the person with the killing blow getting points.

When the numbers dwindled it was easier for me to get into 1 on 1 situations where you aren't fighting with your team mates over kills. The ruling says that the member with least amount of kills from each team is eliminated so you're actually killing members of the other team but fighting against your own. I decided early on to avoid my party members and choose my fights so I don't get overwhlemed.

Build wise I went for good AC but most importantly high tactics. 2 fighter (tactics boost, tower shield prof and feats) 1 wizard (blur, jump, expeditious retreat with quicken for fast buffing. would have chosen something else if I would have thought about the Abishai cookies) and 1 barb (sprint boost and rage) and I used two weapon sets, while one set was for landing tactics (stunning blow and trip) the other set was to land the kill. During the first round I quickly switched to just the dps weapon set since often landing the tactic would get someone else the kill while I wasted a second to switch sets.

Unfortunatly I disregarded an important piece of gear, cookies. Up untill the last round I think only a handful of cookies were used by anyone. During the final I knew I was in trouble when I saw those blade barriers being used at choke points and disintegrate/meteor swarms flying my way. The abishai cookies were also a great boost to my rival. Cookies were used very well and Saxart indeed desrves the win but perhaps in future runs gear should be limited to stuff you can buy from vendors since IMO the contest would have been a lot less fun if cookies were used throughout the 5 rounds.

Ho and another very important thing.
Stay far away from the hosts. Countless times I heard the firestrom "swish" sound behind my back and the dreaded commet fall. See a host? Do a 180 and run!

Big congratulations to Hossa for having the original idea for this.
I simply listened to his thoughts while leveling up Fawngate's final life thru the harbor soloing.
    Applause to you, Hossa!!

When we worked thru the rules, equipment was discussed and debated in detail.
One of big concerns was that it is very difficult to police equipment.
We cannot look and see what is in the other player's backpack,
nor can we easily track where something came from.
Therefore, it was decided to allow unlimited equipment.

Two days before the event cookies were brought up to me by a player as
a strong choice to make if they participated.

Cookies are only available during Xmas events so there is a limited supply of them.
I think that is why cookies were only seen in the final event this time.
The fact that the final event is 15 minutes might actually reduce some of the cookie impact.

We also are looking into increasing the second place prize as getting into the finals is a huge
accomplishment. We will consider increasing the time limit on the final event.

I would like to challenge someone a few times so I can see what the x button does for
capture the flag PVP dungeons. We originally rejected those because they do not have
    global death announcements.

I also would like to make a 4th level sorcerer, and PVP someone for a bit just to see
how correct our choice of limiting caster classes is?

Ok, I got my Sorcerer made, so I'll be ready to test her out.

Thanks Hoss, I will look for you tonight sometime.

For those of you wondering what time it is in the eastern time zone here is a link:
    http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/city.html?n=179

Been out doing some yardwork and two random thoughts occurred to me.

In the hunger games, there were training sessions before the main event.
So, maybe during the Saturday nights that are not Hunger Game Tournament Nights,
we hold a Hunger Games training session at 8 pm est?

5 vs 5 free to enter, little or no prizes, one or more rounds.
Or maybe a real match but with only the 1st place winner receiving
a prize of notable worth. Part of my hesitation to run the main event each week,
is the burden of farming prizes. But we do end up with nice stuff in bank,
    randomly gathered.

Hoss and I will have to talk this over tonight.

Also, in the Hunger Games there was quite a bit diplomacy to get teamed up with certain
people. So when we do have next Hunger Games Match, we will probably put the two LFMs up
at 8 PM ESt, and let people from the reserved list choose which one they want to join.
At about 8:15 PM EST, we will start letting people not on the reserved list in.

For groupings, last time, basically if you were not eliminated you had a 50% chance to be
    moved to the opposite team.

But a formula occurred to me while pulling weeds. lol.

The lowest ranked player (move kills = higher rank) from each team is eliminated.
Tie are solved by grouping with Hossa and Fawngate then doing in party rolling 1d100
high roll wins, this will be know as the Joker's Death. Look at your score towards the
end, using the x key (xp on hot key set up) and avoid the Joker.

The next lowest ranked player in the entire match will be placed on Fawn's The A Team.
The next lowest ranked player in the entire match will be placed on Hossa's Wild Mustangs.
The next lowest ranked player in the entire match will be placed on Fawn's The A Team.
The next lowest ranked player in the entire match will be placed on Hossa's Wild Mustangs.

You get the idea. This spread out the high ranking killers so they are a bit less likely
to be eliminated early on due to the odds not being in their favor. Ties will be solved
by first name of toon alphabetically being placed first.

For those pondering creating their own version of this on another server, we would be happy to see that happen.
Good luck and may the odds be ever with you...

The ranking system we use might at first seem backwards, but it has some advantages.
Normally one might ponder eliminating the two players with the least kills regardless of which team
they were on, however then Fawn's random environmental hazards would be a serious disadvantage
for players on the opposite team, Camping (actively standing over a spawn point to immediately
kill incoming players), and team selection would become much more critical.

The current ranking system also give more of a Hunger Games attitude that eventually no one is your
    friend.
