Considering the lore of both of these in D&D, and would guess not.

Cats are cool...with wings, even better!!!

Owlbears are absohootly bearable for me

Owlbears are a classic iconic D&D creature - I dont see whats wrong with that? Or do you have a problem with beholders, gelatinous cubes, mind flayers, chromatic dragons, and rust monsters too?

    Right? I am disgusted....

I mean, no red flying cat? Seriously? Do I have to stick with that poor brown thingy?

I am sad, I want my Garfield!

While I don't have anything against flying cats and owlbears per se, I really would rather have a better costuming system and less bugs. And because I'm tired of people responding that different types of devs do different things, I will preempt with the reminder that more people who fix bugs and create systems can be hired instead of those who create pets.

now, about teh flying cats.. so what? its a cosmetic pet, i dont care if its a flying cat, a brocolli, a baby lolth or Arlos.. if u dont like it, dont use it!

    How about.....

Cosmetic pet employees bring Turbine some easy money to hire more bug fixers / system creators...

Or, line warner bros. pockets. Meh.

OwlBears are wildly icon to D&D. I was slightly disappointed when I found I couldn't shift my druid into an owbear (that would be SOOO cool).

The flying cats are just for flavor. "In the kingdom of cormer [IDK how to spell it] it is illegal to harm cats" - Elminster, The King's Forest. I must say, whoever is designing the cosmetic pets are really doing a good job; those things are CUTE.
Because DDO content is created by hand, some issues cannot be fixed with a global change. We must fix these issues one-by-one by hand with the help of bug reports. This includes:
Ladder issues: please include the /loc when reporting a ladder issue

If only someone could convince turbine to go all wizard of oz on us and give us Flying Monkeys I would probably play the game more just to interact with those.

The Owlbear was fist introduced in 1975 and has been a part of D&D ever since.

    So what?

In the lore they aren't prolific little pets that follow people around doing tricks and nothing else useful.

They're Monsters to be feared and dispatched.

    From the original Monster Manual:

"They are ravenous eaters, aggressive hunters, and evil tempered at all times."

The cutification of iconic D&D creatures isn't something to be applauded in a D&D game.

    Flying cats are AWESOME!

Not sure about owlbears.... all I know is that they aren't scary. Despise their size, the hooting kinda breaks the tension.

Perhaps flying broccoli would work, vegetables that have been given the ability(insert mad wizard that liked his garden)to fight back/flee from pests.

If you have not noticed, pets bring Turbine money and are something people have been asking for.

Where was your "So what" for Kobolds, Earth Elementals, Dragons, Beholders, Iron Golems, Gelatinous Cubes, and every single other monster based pet we now have?

And how many of these pet do you own?

Have to sell those pets to make the money to hire more people.

    And I do my own preempt;

You do NOT want people who create pets working on fixing bugs and creating systems.
