Ok so to start off, I realize Halfling is NOT the best fit for a paladin tank. I get that really I do. I understand the -4 Intimidate penalty for normal sized creatures and a -8 for anything over normal. Now all that being said. Reason its halfing is originally this charachter was a 12wiz/6mnk/2ftr, and to be honest I would rather spend the money on +5 Hearts of wood and convert him rather than having to re-level him. So all that being said I WILL re-level him if the community just thinks there is NO WAY it will work as a halfling. Ok now for the build. The reason I went TWF over THF was mainly due to the fact that I enjoy soloing quite a bit, and the TWF with handwraps and in robes/outfits I figured would make use of the monk stuff and keeping centered. Now I realize that doesn't benefit my bastard sword feat a whole lot. Again if THF is just way above in terms of DPS then I can change that. Also the reason behind becoming a tank on this charachter is I typically run with a couple of buddies and my son. We run EH, but have yet to try EE. Our thinking was we really wanted to have a tank if/when we decided to try some EE. Keeping in mind that my other 3 buddies are 1) ranger/paladin/rogue 2) ranger/fighter/mnk 3) druid/monk. So as you can see no real caster to just burn through stuff, so figured we would need a little meat in order to give us more time to kill stuff. Ok now my reasoning behind bastard sword. I like them really that is all lol. Ok I figure with bastard sword/cleave/great cleave I should be able to hold most of the mobs attention while in heavy plate. Yes I know, no evasion in heavy armor, again only reason behind the monk stuff was for when I solo or we just don't really need the tank type. Anyways please let me know what you think of the build and what type of equipment I should be trying to farm up, any feedback is more than welcomed. Just please don't be rude! Thanks again in advance.

The best tank in my guild is a Halfling Pally/Fighter/Rogue wearing light armor. He has saves out of sight, and can still intim almost anything in the game.

While not optimal, a halflong tank is certainly doable.

You DO NOT need a tank for EEs. In every situation where a tank could be useful there are better options for defeating the encounter.

I've played this build but human. Both before and after U14. Pre-U14 she had 100 TWFing AC when that actually meant something and was damned near indestructable.

But the damage output was just plain terrible. Absolutely horrible. Having also a Stalwart at the time it was miles behind in comparison.

Post U14 it's better with EDs, actually pretty darned good in LD if your situation allows you to blitz. But I still can't say it's even up to "good."

    YMMV of course.

You can complete Epic Hard with a fairly unpolished character. But I am not really sure what you are aiming for with this character as an Epic Elite tank. I really do not see any way that you will be able to get to the 110+ Intimidate values needed for certain things, such as the Marilith in PoP. Granted, neither can the majority of 'tanks' but being a Halfling will end up putting you below more and more stuff as you fail to hit the thresholds. Without knowing what kind of gear and such these other builds are looking at I am also a bit skeptical that the build listed would be able to hold threat over them just doing a cleave rotation with a bastard sword.

We run EH, but have yet to try EE. Our thinking was we really wanted to have a tank if/when we decided to try some EE.
Really, I think that the best thing for you to do is to just try some of the easier EE quests. It is hard to know exactly from the level split listed just how a character will play. But a 12 wizard that is an Evoker Arcmage using a lot of Shiradi spam is among the most useful builds for EE content right now. Infinitely more useful than a Paladin.

Also, I would put this entire thing on hold for a little while. The Enhancement Trees are coming soon, and they are going to fundamentally change the way that characters are built. Would be quite a blow to buy 4x +5 hearts of wood, only to find out shortly after taking a month to change your character over that the new build has been made entirely FUBAR and will need either more LRs or a TR.

I haven't played this but I can add something useful I guess. Bastard swords are only advantageous if you are using a shield, otherwise they are grossly inferior to khopeshes, which matters quite a bit when a) playing a poor DPS class that desperately needs DPS and b) leveraging smites (better crit profile). The only thing I'd reconsider for is dual Nightmare. Even still, if you have access to CitW weapons I'd go with piercing and balizarde/celestia (first for DPS, second for heavy DR+fort).

There is nothing wrong with building a tank for the purpose of being able to tank situationally and otherwise just have superior defenses as a melee DPS (when TWF you are in no way a real tank). If you want to be "tankier" you might consider going sword and board and maxing double strike (there are some good builds for that in the forums, see the Dire Defender Dreadnought and Axehead builds). If I recall, the guy that built the Axehead mentioned he converted to a halfling using shield + Balizarde and really liked it *shrug*.

As mentioned, EE is so ramped right now that it can't really be tanked in the traditional sense, so a traditional tank is less useful at end game if that's the goal.
