Default 6th life time for fighter but what

So I have 2 cleric past lives and one fvs, druid and barbarian past lives. Also this toon has used +3 tomes on all stats. I think fighter is next for me and would like to get it done as quickly and cleanly as possible. Here are my goals. I want to be able to solo as much as possible while leveling. This probably means doing Deleras and Necro chains again so I can use Silver Flame pots at higher levels. I currently have both great axes and great swords as well as an assortment of hand wraps so I am looking at going either twf or monk fighting style. Finally I have rogue gear and would like to use it but not real important as I am afraid that would spread me too thin with what I want to do.

I am also interested in playing with either whirlwind or chest blessing as these have always fascinated me and I figure the extra feats fighter provides make this a good life to play with them. Sure it may gimp me a little but can it be done without turning the toon into an outright gimp? So what pointers would you offer?
    THF 2rogue/18fighter?
    THF2monk/18fighter?
    Monk style 2 monk/18 fighter?
    Monk style 6monk/14fighter?
    or some other crazy variant?

I have all races available but H-elf.

18/2 Fighter/Rogue seems best to me as long as you take your Rogue levels first to maximise your skill points. Put your INT score to 12 (4 points) and be Human since they get extra skill points per level plus a free feat. I would be tempted to try 12 Fighter, 6 Paladin and 2 Rogue. The Paladin gives instant access to some wands and will get you Cure Serious Wounds spell at level 4 (maybe swap 1 Rogue level for Wizard for a metamagic feat like Empower Heal?), Fighter levels for DPS and Rogue for UMD and traps/locks.

Here is what I came up with. That gives me almost 10 min of rage at level 8 which should be enough to get to most shrines. I will also have all the feats I have now as a barbarian but power crit and then I will have the whirlwind line and greater weapon focus for kensie. By taking the barbarian levels first I also get more skill points before my tomes kick in allowing me to max trapping skills (will still use barbarian spot and most locks can be picked with very little skill investment and gear. If not there are enough casters and rogue builds to get the few locks I can't.)

I guess my question is would this build do as much DPS as my current 2 rogue/18 barbarian which was built basically the same only H-orc and no int so he started at 20 16 16 6 instead of the 18 14 16 12 this build has.

I would think it would be on par with 18/2 Barbarian/Rogue in terms of DPS though I don't know for sure

Would you swap to Kensai eventually since Power Surge gives +8 to STR (not sure what Rage gives on Barbs at higher levels) and also how come no UMD? Self healing could be a nightmare with a lot of hit points.

Not having played a fighter ever in pnp or ddo I am not too familiar with power surge. Is that a kensei 2 thing? I took Kensie 1 and for the shor time I am level 20 I would probably work kensie 2 into the build but that wont happen till I am grinding tokens to tr again so It wont last long anyway.

UMD I don't have now and I don't have near the healing amp this build will have so I think pots will be fine. Pots don't slow your dps like scrolls do. since you don't have to "change weapons" 2 times to get back to fighting.

Yeah Kensai 2 grants a clickie which gives +8 to STR for 1 minute, similar to Gloves Of Titan's Grip.

These new forums suck. I have tried to reply 2 different times and was unable to till now my 3rd attempt. By now I give up on making an intelligent response so I will end with a simple thank you for you response.

do you plan to spen lot of time at lvl20? becuase this is a lvl20 build not a lvl18 TR build

reason for this is easy to see 12 fighter gives the ken2 which is a large boost and you want this 6barb is also a key lvl to reach and then 2 rogue for the evasion, so there is no room to drop 2 lvls in any of these to have a good lvl18 build.
my own compromise would be get 1 barb quickly and 12 fighter quickly and then get 2rog so you can max skills odds are your barb lvls will always trail behind so much its hard to keep up the rages so you basically have 1 rage for the boss fight. its not a bad build but wouldnt call it a TR build
still just the 1lvlbarb gives lot of goodies for a TR the sprint boost and the run speed both are very key for a TR

    id suggest lvl order
1rog 2-7 fighter 8bab 9rog 10-16figther 17-20barb (you could take the first lvl barb faster to get the run boost faster but 1-8 goes pretty fast)

still if you find the barb rage playstyle very fun dont let me stop you cant beat having more fun for lvling speed since playing more=more exp

edit: my own TRs tend to be what i belive to be "fun" since you can always gear up to do the damage still certain amount of effectiveness is often fun.

if you never done a monk multicalss its a fairly unique playstyle id reccomend all players to roll lest 1 multi monk TR 1 life my own gimp was 9monk 9fight 2pala wasnt very effective at 18 but i kinda owned lvl1-16. id never go as far as to reccomend it to anyone else as its not very good

I guess I need to know more about power surge. Is it a limited clicky like an action boost or does it just use a cooldown? It lasts one minute can that be extended with anything? How many do you get?

As far as building for level 18 I didn't really plan on that as I haven't held a level yet. That said I was planning on holding levels a little this life to see if I have really been missing anything. Usually before I do all the level 6 quests I am ready for level 9 so I take it and do level 7 quests. It is only at level 14 when I run out of level 12 quests that I wish I had done more level 6 quests but I usually just run a few more quests and get over it. Anyway I might give building for level 18 some more thought but that was not my original intention.

    Again thanks for your replies.

power surge = 1 mins 8 stacking strength. u get as many as u have boost (i thought) so with kensai u get like 7/8 before items etc. it has a cooldown but u can spam m after each other.
you really want to be kensai if you splash barb anyways. gives nice tactics dc too. twf suits fine.

12/6/2 fight/barb/rog is a good build even while leveling but one would almost delay and go like righter 11/ barb 2 so you have power surge in gh. then proceed pciking up rog with umd and end barb.

12/8 fight/monk is fun too, but dont expect too much of it in epics atm. its really fun to play if you like using special attacks and stunning. if its just to hit 20 and tr, this will serve very well, especially as a dwarf or wf.

    anyways the best of luck.

OK Sweet here is what I am doing, Basically the build above only I Started rogue then took barb then fighterx2. I will continue to take 4 more levels of Fighter then my second rogue level at level 9. finish fighter out by 15 then take my last 5 levels of barb.. I already have the chosen barbarian pastlife feat and not only did it add one rage (unless a fighter life can add a rage) to my barbarian rages it gave me a second rage clicky on its own timer that stacks with the barbarian rage. Too bad it is only on 30 second rage. I will let you know if extend rage helps when I get it but that will be after level 16.

    Thanks again for the help
