I personally feel that many Elite quests aren't too incredibly hard; knowing that there are some very deadly traps makes those quests more fun for me. If a trap didn't have the potential to one shot me, I'd probably ignore them.
On lower difficulty settings, I believe you can just run through traps to your heart's content. With all the content, you can also just choose to skip the quests that irk you.
For example, I'll never, ever run Spies in the House, ever, ever again (buggy air jets!). :P
