Default Petition to make recalling faster when you fix the progress bars.

I'm going to be honest here, I have been taking advantage of the progress bar bug since it started to recall faster.

Why? Because it's one of the best things that has happened to this game in a long time, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks it is. (The recalling part of it of course, not the rest)

Now I'm not suggesting to make it instant like bug allows it to be, but how about making it faster when you fix those progress bars?

I was thinking about something similar to how logging out works. When you try to log out in a quest, it's long (normal time) but when you try to log out in town it's fast. How about making recalling exactly the same? As in, if you try to recall while the quest is NOT finished, it will have its usual timer, but if you try to recall after the quest is finished, it would be fast. Simple no?

    Who's with me?

Finish should be faster. Recall from wilderness areas should be also slightly faster but i cannot agree with faster recall from active quest.

Finishing after quest end could get faster, yes!

    My thoughts exactly.

I've died several times in 3BC because I alt-tab out on the finish bar and come back to find myself drowned to death.

I have noticed that the finger on the forward arrow key slips a lot lately after I initiate a recall.

Instantaneous recall from quests and wilderness areas in all situations. Standing around waiting for a recall to complete is tedious, and no one plays a game for the tedium. DDO player population is declining, and there are any number of other games vying for potential DDO customers. Its time to do something radical, and make the game more fun and less tedious.

I would say 2x the speed that it was before should be fine. For everything (search, disable, etc.) with timers.

Absolutely not signed, and for the reason you guys already know...

All this does it let you zerg faster, and ignore any excess aggro you've built up by finishing out before it can kill you.

Recall takes a while for that exact reason... so that you can't escape a dangerous situation with an easy button...

But I'm sure all the people who call for "moar challenge" will also be perfectly happy with the ability to escape a bad situation without any danger to their character.

    You guys crack me up.

Once the quest is done, why should someone bother with what remains in the dungeons? If you can zerg to red DA and kill the boss you can usually handle other mobs as well, it just requires times and it has no sense at all, considering you've already finished the quest.

Oh, and there's always the "old" method to recall faster.

    Anyway, signed OP.

I'd be on board with doubling the recall speed. To prevent exploiting, make it so that while recalling you are completely defenseless. 100% of everything hits you and can interrupt it.

That's about where I am as well. There's certainly no need for any delay when a quest is complete, and the proof is that you can DD and click the door immediately and not even get an "Are you sure?".

I believe you just described the "Dimension door" spell perfectly.
Now if only we were able to go out of those quests with no exit door, or with the exit door away from the entrance, faster...

Whenever I cancel, its generally because I forgot a chest, decide to grab an optional or want to swap gear (SP item etc) and 90% of the time is once the quest is finished, which is exactly what you want to speed up. I've done the ohcrapimeanttograbthe.... (loading...) about 5 times since this bug hit. Admittedly, that's probably because I always had that long wait time sitting around pontificating on the more profound things in life so I probably got in the habit of subconsciously running the 'do you really want to recall check' during that time.

Adding a 'quick exit on complete' toggle or some hot-key combination to speed up (QQ anyone?) the exit... that I'd go for.

Or on quest completion have an optional objective of leaving through the exit.

If the quest is complete and you don't have any aggro, there's likely nothing that would interrupt the recall anyway, so speeding it up isn't changing anything but how long players twiddle their thumbs. If those conditions are able to be checked when setting the length of the recall bar (as the logout bar is variable it seems the duration can be dynamic) that would seem to me to be reasonable for allowing faster exits.

What do you think about faster recall ONLY after you have completed the Quest?

I know it might only save you/us a second or two, but if it can be changed easily and makes some players happy, why not?

Quest completion would be a must IMO.

I'm going to have to agree with this for pretty much all the reasons mentioned. Part of the game is taking care of surrounding mobs before you safely exit the dungeon. There are some options already in place. Some dungeons have an exit door at the end that allows instant recalling. In many cases you can dimension door to the start for an easier exit. Perhaps you can get to a door and close it for a safe recall. If you really can't recall safely, you can many times run back to the front door and leave.

The act of recalling is basically just a faster way for the game to let you walk back to the front door. It's assumed that you can walk back so the game lets you do that if you're in a safe situation to do so. It's already a time saver in that regard.

Allowing for instantaneous (or significantly faster) and uninterruptable exiting upon completion is effectively a change to the challenge level of the quest.

If there were a way to do a faster finish out when there were no immediate threats, I could be on board with that, but it would seem difficult to code.

Of course if there were a dimension door clickie in the game, this entire conversation might be moot anyway.

We already have the "Harried" debuff that appears in the Effects channel just when a mob has noticed you, so the game does know that. The question is if that can be coupled with the duration of the Finish bar, or if they're just in too entirely different parts of the code to get there from here.

Quest Complete + No dungeon alert of any kind = Faster "Finish" ("Recall" isn't available if quest is complete)

In every other situation, normal delays.

    Any objections?
