    Cool Clonk the Necromancer

    This is a copy of my build for Solix. The main point of this build is the ability to insta-kill via the 4 insta-kill spells that Divine's get.....Destruction/Slay Living/Undeath to Death/Implosion Aura. I am interested in hearing other peoples take on this.

    You need more spell peneration. I would max enhancements and take all feats.
    If you dont have high DC you can always energy drain the monster,but if you dont have high spell penetration
    you can't do anything at all.

    I would not take two toughness feats.Maybe one toughness and the other monk feat dodge.

    Well I appreciate the advice about spell pen, and I've heard it before.....let me try to explain why I ignored spell pen

    My Necro DC's hit 47 in Exalted Angel without twists, when I am solo'ing EH content I one-shot insta-kill just about all trash mobs except Drow....with Drow I tend to just kite them back and forth through blade barrier when applicable and use Divine punishment (no SR) on ranged/casters who resist kiting

    I am expecting my Necro DC's to hit 51 (magister twist and 2 wisdom twists) or 52 with Yugo pots....if I could get my hands on a +5 tome (already have litany but it makes an off modifier now) I could hit DC 53 and if I had past life wizard I could get one more beyond that......and completionist feat could provide another......ending with 55 Necro DC

    I wonder if 55 Necro DC is enough for a divine to one-shot insta-kill in EE if its not...then there is no point in this build (as I've seen other divines with much less DC energy drain and destruct EE mobs).....but I guess I have a lot more work to do before I figure that out.......

    Spell penetration is more importand than DC
    Perhaps you don't feel the need for spell penetration because of the scaling on epic hard. I play only on EE and in a party cause when I solo the end fights take forever.

    I recently tr'ed my favored soul to a cleric. I joined a prison of the planes party and zerged ahead as normal to instakill mobs. To my surprise I had to cast spells more than once ,sometimes more than twice in order to bypass spell resistance and the same thing with their saves. This character has all spell pen past lives and a DC of 58 most of the time . The only thing I was missing was the -2 debuff from the favored soul aura and it was enough to make the caracter not fun to play.

    In this quest I continued playing healbot and using implosion only. Implosion even though the lower dc managed to kill 1 monster each time.

    I have the belief that with a 55 DC(53 on a fvs) you can instakill casters without energy drain. Fighter types and clerics will need energy drain. Even with a dc of 60 plus with a helpful bard in the party some minotaurs or ogres will still need energy drain.

    In higher difficulties blade barriers take too long to kill a monster.

    Thank you for your response, would the passive past life feats from both wizzy and favored soul be enough to overcome my spell pen deficit? Would it matter if I had 3 past lives of both?

    How would you overcome the spell pen problem with this first life toon? through AP or feats? If AP what would you recommend I get instead of the choices I took? If feats, which would you recommend I replace?

    My opinion is that you dont really need to tr ,a first life character can have all the spell penetration needed. I would reccomend a wizard past life though.

    The feats I would take are these:
    monk feats
    toughness
    dodge

    empower healing
    empower
    maximize
    quicken
    heighten
    spell focus necromancy
    greater spell focus necromancy
    spell penetration
    greater spell penetration
    epic spell penetration.

    If you decide to tr 3x wizard and fvs then maybe you can remove greater spell penetration and epic spell penetration and put epic spell focus necromancy and something else like stunning fist or mental toughness.
    You would keep the spell penetration just in case you ll have to twist more spell penetration for a spesific quest.

    I would max all spell penetration enhancements. In order for this to happen I would remove maybe charisma or like a costly top tier of positive critical line or light.

    For the first life character I would stay exalted angel for the caster levels. I would twist spell penetration from magister or dragonic ,both if its possible and the +3 to spell focus from magister.

    With past lives maybe I would swap to grandmaster of flowers for better saves,knockdown immunity and Ein.

    Thank you, I will try that.....next life, but I can't remove the 2 ranks into charisma as that is a pre-req for PrE at least until Enhancement update. (I could take something else but it would still cost the same amount of AP) but I think I could adjust the positive critical and a little from light

    Note to anybody that's reading this post. This build I posted is good enough for EH (only EN in gianthold *tested*).........so if you just want a cleric toon that can solo for tokens then TR...this build works. If you want more....continue your search on the forums

    backandforth posted a feat progression that's impossible, it uses to many feats

    We chose the same Meta-magic's

    Empower Healing
    Maximize
    Empower
    Quicken
    Heighten

    but there is only 3 feats left (not counting monk feats or epic feats), and based on his advice I have to assume that the other feats needed are

    Spell Pen
    Necro focus
    Greater necro focus

    Epic feats:
    Greater spell Pen
    Epic spell penetration

    I am going to try this build on Solix's next life....and will post the effectiveness here.

    I just completed a 17Clr/2Mnk/1Wz TR life week ago. HElf- Pally Dilly, holding out now to get Cleansers and level few EDs up before TR again. Heroic levels was a breeze. 2 death spells, 2 Banish spells, 2 Undead insta-kills laughs at most mobs. I would highly suggest to get an Evocation item, and a Greater Evocation item to make your Blade Barriers, Comet Falls, Divine Punishment better against Deathblock mobs/Red Names.

    Don't really like the build in epic content though.
