Default OWLBEAR stats and special attacks Vs. Panther

    LVL 20 Panther has...
Evasion, Manslayer, Deathblock, Heavy Fortification, Improved Destruction, Tendon Slice, Aligned AND Metalline.

    LVL 25 Owlbear has...
none of the above (or probably fortification).... and gets it's ass kicked in same level content (LVL 24-25).

Both were pre-order bonuses. (and one of them cost an additional $40.)

Can a dev comment here about the abilities of the Owlbear?

I'm told that the Panther has all common Bane types as well.

You are right.... check out the wiki article: http://ddowiki.com/page/Onyx_Panther

The Owlbear really missed the mark then.

AND the Panther was included with MotU pack... I had to pay an extra $40 for the Owlbear.

Please Devs, tell us this was an oversight and you will upgrade the Owlbear.

I feel like a sucker for even buying the expansion and upgrade pack.

During pre-order for MotU, they listed what the Panther had.

It would be nice to see what the Owlbear does... because I'm not seeing anything.

If it has a knockdown, the DC is very low because I'm not seeing it go off.

    Anyone see it Intim?

I don't feel you were- SOMEONE had to find out how bad a deal it was to inform the rest of us not to buy it.
I almost spent money today if not for this post. Thank you for that!

So a couple things on the Owlbear:

I'll put this out here just to rule it out: make sure you are summoning the right level Owlbear. Two Owlbears hirelings are provided, one level 17 and one epic level. The icons look the same and it's possible to have mixed them up as a result (especially if your 2nd owlbear ended up on the next tab of your inventory).

Otherwise, the Epic Owlbear's current stats are:
    200 Physical Resistance Rating
    DR 15/-
    Death Ward
    Heavy Fortification
    20% Acid damage absorption
    20% electric absorption
    20% cold absorption
    20% fire absorption
    30% healing amplification

Ability score wise, compared to the lower level owlbear and panther:
    Level 25 Owlbear
    STR 91 DEX 38 CON 53 INT 12 WIS 20 CHA 14

    Level 17 Owlbear
    STR 61 DEX 28 CON 38 INT 12 WIS 18 CHA 14

    Level 20 Panther
    STR 34 DEX 23 CON 34 INT 10 WIS 19 CHA 14

and base attack damage breaks out like so:
    Level 25 Owlbear: 10d6
    Level 17 Owlbear: 5d6
    Level 20 Panther: 3d6

    Hope this helps to clarify!

    Thank you for the reply.

The stats look very nice for both of the hirelings (for their level).

My next guess is something might be bugged with them... because a level 25 hireling with those stats and my druid buffs... should not be having a problem killing a couple giants in Gianthold. Other people are also posted that the epic hireling is woefully underpowered.

200 PRR should be 56.29% less physical damage. No way that is working.

    I'll do some more testing.

Thanks again for the response. At least we know someone is listening.

Can we have both the Owl Bear and the Panther out at the same time?

Yeah, if those stats are correct, then something is seriously bugged with them. My level 17 Owlbear usually lasts through about 3 fights in level 15 content (with Blur, Greater Heroism, and Protection from Elements), before dying

Yes. I've heard reports of this being done. Bagheera and Baloo together at last!

You can even bring out both owl bears at the same time. (I can't imagine why you would want to other than favor runs or standing on pressure plates though.)

Curious why the Panther, which is 3 levels higher than the 17 Owlbear, has LOWER stats and damage? That doesn't seem to make any sense.

Because its the flavor of twelve months ago, of course! But yeah, I'd like to know why Bagheera is so anemic in comparison to the Owlbear as well.

Slower than a Druid in Bear form or a Pale Master in Zombie form?
