    Default Issue logging onto server after U18 applied

    Greetings.

    I am experiencing an issue with starting the game i have not encountered before.

    First my shortcut points to turbinelauncher.exe NOT dndlauncher.exe. This is correct.

    The login pane opens as normal. I enter my credentials and click login. Thelanis server is preselected. After clicking the login button, the pane disappears as normal but the game fails to start (display DDO splash screen/ load progress, then chcaracter selection).

    Any help or direction to fixing is appreciated.

    I do not know if the application of the expansion codes contribute to this issue. I had purchased and applied both the collector's and legendary upgrade codes via the turbine acct management site.

    1st update
    Decided instead o waiting for help; I'll just uninstall and reinstall. has work before on other issues maybe this one too.....

    2nd update
    an unistall and reinstall did not fix the issue....

    Default Same problem here

    I called customer support and was told that the update was applied to my account, so when I get logged in, should have everything available. But, as the previous poster stated, get past the server choice(Khyber) and then nothing. Cannot just redownload the entire game at this time...any ideas?

    At this time, no ideas.

    1.i tried my backup folder to re d/l U18. no luck.
    2. i tried selecting different world servers, no luck.
    3.i tried changing server addressing back to dynamic (had to switch to a specific IP address for the domain expired issue. This really wouldn't change my chances but i know it could affect things....
    4. tried attaching a debugger to the client/game....did not see any exceptions or premature thread disposals. so guessing a method call might be missing or not occurring? cant see the code and not paid to find/fix it...
    5. i felt with my isp speeds that i can wait an hour to re-download. If it still does not work. ill update my OP.

    When I lived in FL and was on cable internet, would have redownloaded with no problem, but living in backwoods Texas now and on satellite, so to redownload would use about 2/3 of my monthly usage and simply cannot afford to use that much Hoping someone gets a simple solution for this problem, otherwise going to have to go to MCD's and use their free WIFI for about 12 hours

    I'm having the same problem, only after U18 was launched.

    The launcher works fine, but it always fails to get the client started. I go to connect to Khyber (or any other world) and the client never pops up. The d20 rolls and the launcher restarts.

    I've reinstalled the game, that doesn't work.

    I've manually uninstalled C++ 2010. The client reinstalls it but there's no change.

    I've manually uninstalled C++ 2010 then reinstalled it myself from Microsoft. The client then still reinstalls it. No change.

    I've put every executable in the Turbine folder into admin mode. No change.

    I'm just getting back into the game after being gone for a couple of years, and just got my girlfriend into it. Between this and having issues getting the expansion pack on my account I'm having serious regrets for having done so. Things appear to have really fallen apart over here.

    Uninstalling and installing from Steam also didn't work. The dndclient.exe log ends as follows:

    000000000.000: Initializing display with title 'Dungeons and Dragons Online'...
    000000000.000: Device_WIN32::Init: called.
    000000000.000: Device_WIN32::InitDEVICE| Detected operating system: Windows 7
    000000000.000: Device_WIN32::Cleanup: called.

    Not sure why it's detecting Windows 7, I'm running 8. Turning all the .exes to Windows 7 compatibility does nothing. The next line should be directx starting up, I believe.

    Got a fix.

    Right click the DDO icon in the taskbar and go to options.

    Go to the repair tab in there about resetting graphics settings and click the box in there, then try to log in.

    I'm still having the same issue, this did not seem to fix it. The launcher will launch, allow me to log in and select server, but then the actual game client will not start.

    Forgot to mention some of the steps I've done....

    Tried running with integrated graphics card instead of my high performance one.
    Tried running as administrator.
    Turned off anti-virus.
    Repaired the game from install option.
    Uninstalled and reinstalled.

    Running Windows 8.

    Default Cannot connect to the game server.

    Same problem here. Tried PopeDX's fix but couldn't find the necessary fields to click on, probably because I'm still running Vista. Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Smile had the same issue

    Ello all ^^ I was having the same issue and none of the above solved it. My resolution came from updating my graphics card drivers. I have a Nvidia GeForce GT 650 card running off an i7 chip. Hope this helps

    TurbineLauncher.exe is currently unable to launch the dndclient, as others have described above.

    Launcher starts running through 'game update proccess' normally, and prompts for login information. After logging in, prompts world selection. When 'Play' is clicked, the launcher proccess ends and nothing else happens - no error, no crash, no freeze, no new proccess, nothing.

    Attempted fixes include:
    Reinstall DDO
    Repair installation of C++ 2010
    Manual uninstall of C++ 2010
    Manual uninstall & reinstall of C++ 2010
    Compatability mode changes to executables.
    Loading from TurbineLauncher.exe, TurbineInvoker.exe, & DDOLauncher.exe
    Permissions changes
    Method given by 'PopeDX' above*

    All my drivers are new, and cannot be updated further.

    *I am unable to locate an 'options' selection in Windows 8, through the taskbar icon or exe in the DDO folder. The properties window contains no such repair tab.

    In addition to the above issue beginning with the U18 update yesterday, over the past two weeks (from when I began playing on a new computer) I have experienced a constant barrage of client freezes, forcing a close through taskmanager.

    These freezes would happen rarely immediately upon completing a quest, and rarely seemingly randomly. Additionally, I would consistantly experience a chain of three or more consecutive freezes (& associated client restarts) whenever I initially load DDO, or decide to restart the client for any reason, before the game seems to 'stabilize'; these freezes happen at any point from the initial loading screen, up to several minutes after a character enters the world. I have not found any solution to this issue.

    Of all the games I play and other programs run, DDO is the only one to have experienced crashes or client freezes on this computer, and has done so multiple times.

    sure i ll try
    1. Start launcher
    2. Wait when you can enter your login/pass but do not enter it now.
    3. In the upper right corner there is 4 small buttons.
    4. Press one that have options menu. (single triangle i belive but not sure. you can try them all)
    5. There will be 'bookmarks' (like lists in excel) press 'repair'
    6. set a mark near 'reset graphic options'
    7. Accept.
    8. Enter your login/pass and press play.

    Sorry for my english, maybe its all difficult to understand. I m still learning it.

    Also when i loged to the game yesterday one guildie said that she has same problem after she installed MS IE10. When she deinstalled it all went well.

    Thank you for the usable explanation. This method did fix my problem, and I have been able to change graphics settings back to where they should be, and still able to log on.
