So I looked on the ddo.com page, saw the expansion, $49.99 for collectors edition - well, I really am on a tight budget but might swing 49.99. Saw it contained Bladeforged Iconic Hero, neat, a perm hireling, I need that! And, it only includes a few quests but maybe I can stretch for the prospect of more in the future. Character slots sure make it more attractive so maybe someday I can come off VIP if I get enough slots and packs.
Then I saw the Legenday Upgrade and thought, Wow, an Owlbear hireling, even better, but wait, that must mean that Bladeforged Paladin above was a class or a mislabelled cosmetic companion. But heck, I'll order before the date so I'll get the owlbear and even if its level 24 that's something better than nothing.
So I went to the Purchase page, not gonna buy yet, gotta check finances, but thought I'd check it out.
WHOA! -ADDITIONAL- $39.99 for the "upgrade" including hireling?
That price was NOT mentioned on the ddo.com page, the ddo.com page clearly led me to believe it was a perk if I ordered before a date (was it June 5)?
And, all I want really is the hireling. I don;t want more timed elixirs that penalize me as a slow player and I can live without those other tomes for saving the $$$
A) I'd like a clarification on the advertising, do I really have to pay $90 to get the hireling?
And b) if it IS extra, Turbine should really add the additional cost to the front page. That's an oversight that will really hurt them in the arena of consumer reputation. It's early yet, I know there are bound to be errors, I'm just trying to give useful feedback fast enough to head off misunderstandings.
