Default Iconic Chars, without the TR just another thing to ignore..

    as title says
for me iconic Chars are a dead end,
no TR makes them useless to me because i find myself often with a maxed out char and no interest in playing it.
Normal Chars get TRd then, so i can at least re-use lots of the equip and all the bought stuff (inventar / bank slots / greater xp tome / tomes)
    and get more ability points.

only thing i could do with a iconic would be delete and for loosing so much playtime and money they are just not interesting enough.

    how about you?

I had assumed they would just be VET15 builds and that they would be TRable. If they aren't, as you say they are junk for most players I think.

(or are these builds super overpowered to start with?)

    No they are not.

I'm not really getting the purpose of them. Perhaps the Devs would like to clue us in?

The whole Iconic Hero program is in alpha, When the devs hold events on Lamma-Land, just ask them questions.
They want us to create & lvl up the toon & fill out surveys.
From what we were told, there will be 3 Iconic Heros, Bladeforged being the Litmus Test.
Having LoB as their deity is pretty cool. IMO
The thf wf pally has it's strong points (and some drawbacks)
Give it time, play them as-is, and fill out a survey.

Agreed. Like the enhancements they are allowing a preview of future content, making it available to the test players for feedback.

Since U14 the current DDO devs have been trying to get us to focus on end-game ans stop TRing.

This has failed miserably. TR is the end-game of DDO.

I guess this is one way to get it to stop!

I understand this, but I'd like to know what exactly I'm testing this for? As it stands, few veteran players would be interested. I know these was designed to attract new players to the Forgotten realms stuff.

(Because we need a car analogy)

This is like test driving a car and having someone ask you for a review as to whether or not you would buy this above another brand, when you don't know the make or model.

    Brroom! I love car analogies!
But still I am not going to be testing anything without knowing more about it.

I am an avid TRer, although i only got like 8 or so past lives since TR was implemented. I dont have as much game time as when i was a student.

For me the new race is much, much less interesting if i cant TR into it. I have grown attached to my stable of chars (and the gear and epic XP earned).

If an Iconic char can't TR, then how is it supposed to advance its epic destinies? Assuming it has to get to level 28, it will have to run most of the content many more times than once. This will leave it with very heavy repeat penalties when it gets to cap. Pretty much the only way to keep advancing epic destinies at cap will be to leave certain quests *cough* Rusted Blades *cough* run only once or twice during leveling and then repeat it ad-nauseum at cap. Heaven help anyone that messes that part up.

This isn't aimed at veteran players, apart from a bit of novelty factor. As a variation on a warforged it's cute with the repair spells.

It's aimed at new players who want to spend TP on buying this to be able to start a character off at level 15 - this is in preparation for the uplift of the max level to 28.

So for me, it's not much interest.

Make it a distinct new class with past life feats however, and you could tempt me to do 3 lives of them

    Alpha stage, give them time.

At least we are getting a chance at 1st stage feedback, and a sneak peek.

I'm hoping that the iconic's will roll into the new "epic TR" system.

As for why we can't TR now, they probably just don't want anyone messing with Reincarnations at this early stage.

I thought the repeat penalties stopped when you get level 25? For high level content that is; hitting a 15th level quest will still net you the goose egg at level 25. I should think the same would hold true beyond 25. Perhaps that's a question for the devs.

I think the concern is that the expansion may not have enough xp to get from level 25 - 28 without repeating quests more than twice and incurring repetition penalties.

If the repeat penaltys still will stop at 25 it will be annoying.
If the repeat penaltys increase till 28 i will stop playing till they fix it.
If you look at the xp progression you see that the lvls 25-28 will be at least 3 million xp.
And that is a conservative estimate, not even goin into ED TRing..
All in all somebody decided that we need absolute stupid amounts of xp,
which funnel us into grinding rusted blades or another stupid quest till our eyes bleed.
Reminds me of Anarchy Online but at least there i can go afk will someone grinds out the stupid amounts of xp.

There are too many unanswered questions regarding this new iconic character to give good feedback on it.

    1) Is it designed to not be reincarnated on purpose Y/N?

    2) Will you be able to TR into an Iconic Y/N?

    3) Are they meant as "test" toons? Basically like a throw away if they cannot be reincarnated Y/N?

    4) What do the devs see players using these Iconics for? What is the intended purpose?

To the devs. Please don't expect reliable feedback on a system that is tossed at us without any real instructions or explanations. You have info needed for us to provide solid feedback, but for some reason, we don't have this info at all so we have to make assumptions based on what we have which is that they will never be able to be reincarnated, which to many, many players makes them essentially useless.

The only thing I have to say so far is that they look really badass.

I just died a little inside after I had to switch to my stupid butter faced half elf after playing a bladeforge.

    Thumbs down

i don't think they should be TRable...

why would you roll a normal character if you could roll a iconic, get more stuff, and tr to be anything you like, while keeping all the extra stuff?

honestly this is just another damn waste of dev time, that could be giving us a new race or class, or more epic feats and so on... (or who knows, fixing the damn bugs that still exists in the epic destinies!)
