Default The Way I See DDO Now

I think this video sums it up nicely. What is said at 23 seconds in is what all the diehard fanboys seem to be saying/thinking. The thing the people are on is DDO. Granted it will likely take longer for DDO to go down, but....

I'm not saying the game is dead. I am saying that there are a lot of people "jumping ship", at least it seems that way. Who knows? This game might go Jason Voorhees on us and never, ever die. At least until someone blows it out an airlock into space.

If you feel the way your post and signature seem to express maybe you should start looking at other games?

The game is fine. It will end at some point but it's definitely got quite a few more years to go at least as they are still releasing new expansions/content. We all know it won't last forever, almost no one cares because we are having fun right now.

Ahem... I'll thank you to kindly refrain from raining sunshine on other people's doom

The mantra of the blind I'm afraid.

Enjoy the game (when possible) but make no mistake it is on it's way out. Turbine is making absolute sure that this happens.

My guild has all left. Many, many friends from various other guilds are gone. The only people left I personally know are the ones that will say nothing but good about DDO/Turbine even when they know the truth.

They probably own betamax players too.

lol you sound like one of those people on neverwinter. Do we really need graphics? This game is GREAT.

Now quit hogging the dope and pass it around to the rest of us!

We're heading towards the iceberg but it hasn't been hit yet.

And no, the game is not "fine." Just not completely doomed yet.

I tried. Neverwinter is worse, and GW2 don't interest me anymore because I don't like PvP and their PvE is very weak on solo mode. Maybe it's time to make use of my ever-growing Steam library full of games that I never played...
Main: Amossa d'Cannith, Sarlona, casually trying Completionist [<o>]

    Almost-never-played-alts: Arquera - Chapolin - Fabber - Herweg - Mecanico - Tenma

I want DDO to be a better game. Those are my personal suggestions on: Ammunition, Archmage, Combat Stances, Deities, Dispel Magic, Epic Destiny Map, Fast Healing, Favor, Favored Enemy, Half-elf Enhancements, Monk Stances, Past Life, Potency, Potions, Ranger Spells, Summons, Tiered Loot.

I'm not blind. Last week I spent most of the week helping new players learn the game. Every single one of them has logged on in hte last 24 hours....a good sign. Constantly seeing new players. I only know two people who have left....and one was because of reasons not inside the game.

Maybe they should just keep doing what they are doing...then all the elitist jerks who think that they know what is going on and speak for everyone will finally leave
Shorlong - Pale Master, Cevon - Druid Archer, Gorgnak - Barbarian, Addanc - Bear Tank, Juristash - Shadar Kai Assassin, Treiah - Morninglord Tempest Ranger, Baylfyre - CC Bard, Deimanus - Bladeforged Melee Arti, Daerian - Healing Cleric Morninglord, Krazig - Pally Tank, Veriste - Shadar Kai Death Knight, Xanapheia - TWF FVS, Helainia - Shadar Kai Henshin-Theif

There's an inevitability to the titanic reference that feels just a bit premature... for now. I feel like It's more Scotty exclaiming, "She can't handle much more Captain!". There's real problems on the enterprise... will a solution present itself, can it be executed in time, will it include a warp core ejection or will the enterprise crash and burn into the planet below! Stay Tuned!

It wont ever happen that way. You see DDO has provided people a way to play but never have to pay again, so no one really ever has to leave and no mass exodus ever has to occur. What WILL happen is the "break periods" folks take will become longer and longer. Population will spike each time an update or expansion is released, and the in between times will be occupied by many of those folks going back to their new mainstay game and playing it until DDO releases new content.
Advocating repeated nerfs in the name of "balancing the game" then complaining about how DDO is moving away from D&D, is a direct contradiction in logic - D&D 3.5 (what DDO is based on) is not a balanced game. We can either have a balanced clone MMO with homogenized classes, or we can have a D&D game. We cant have both.

I have, and found one better, less buggy, less laggy, less crappy, and with fully functional forums that don't link my cc info to them. Not that I really had any problems with lag before I went on hiatus. It was 99% the whole "let's bone peoples privacy by linking account info to the forums" idea that made me want to leave in the first place. But I digress, onward!

Almost no one cares? Are you serious? Have you been reading the forums at all lately? Have you been talking to people in game at all? (and I don't mean people that just recently started playing). I like how you generalize the "we" part there too. Maybe you are having fun, and I say good for you. I am honestly and truly glad that some people still find joy in this game.

I give you a challenge for the day. Log into the game, talk to 50 different people (people, not characters. ie not one persons 5 alternate characters) and ask them the following questions:

    1. How long have you been playing?
    2. Do you think that there's anything wrong with the game and/or forums?

I'd be willing to bet that of those 50, if any have been playing for more than 1 or 2 years, they will answer yes to question #2. If they've only been playing for a few months, they're likely to new to notice.

I'll be playing my new game, but I'll check back later for your answer.

I don't know that the game is on the way out, but half my guild is playing neverwinter and if/when they come back we will be down several guild levels which will remind them one of the reasons why they hated this game so much in the first place.

I've been on the fence about whether it's worth spending money on this game. I hate giving money to people that are driving away all the people I play with. I wonder if the game will be around 1 year from now.

Turbine seems perfectly willing to ignore anything negative and focus on the positive. That didn't work for many failed regimes in the past.

With as bad as DDO has become, It's still better game play than any other. So while you see it as a sinking ship, I see it as the one with staying power due to the game play.

For 5 1/2 years there has been a doom thread for every change in DDO. When I first saw them I wasnt sure if I wanted to spend money. Then I figured I'll go down with the ship and have spent around $1k. And it's the only game I have ever spent real $$ on.

So say what you will, but I dont think WB would invest in a sinking ship.

I've seen that movie. Hard vacuum didn't work either. He survived orbital reentry and made planet fall in a lake where a young couple was about to get groiny and then dead.
