    Default (Easy!) Fix Forum Links

So... ALL of the old forum links are currently broken. TONS of posts have old forum links like:
    Code:
    http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=379558
Wow... Default WHITE font on WHITE background??? Are you kidding me?

    Let's try this again:

    http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=379558
In order to read it, you have to (manually) format the URL to:
    Code:
    https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/379558
Devs, why not set up a redirect of "http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=[six digits]" to "https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/[six digits]"?

It must serve some profitable purpose to do the things they've been doing in the manner they've been doing them, and it must somehow be in the best interests of the company's stakeholders.

They know how to do redirects, they chose to not implement them.

What other reason could there be?

Yes that kills me too. Makes me think they are joking with people. Even me with my basic html traning can format a forum / page template to not use white on white wherever it is...

About the links, good idea, but I need to copy that to a notepad in my desktop so I can constantly use it to paste in any link I want to follow

end note: it seems a [code] tag inside a [quote] tag places text in black by itself... I didn't change the color of your code inside your quote

Smile greasemonkey script to fix forum links

    This irritated me too.

So I naturally made a greasemonkey script to fix it.

    DDO forum fixup

Until admins get their act together, try this.

What about bookmarks with links like:
    Code:
    http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=4636332&posted=1#post4636332

Edit: I figured it out for myself, even with my limited knowledge of php, vbulletin and http.

    Code:
    http://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/388076

Fortunately, I had the exact name of the thread already. I typed that into goggle and it gave me the thread number (388076) from this link:

    Code:
    http://www.ddo.com/en/showthread.php?t=388076&page=2

After that it was a simple procedure of putting the thread number into the template provided by the OP.

Thanks again OP. I +1'd you for it.

Default DDo Forums redirector Chrome extension

I was to annoyed with the forums problem aswell, for those that don't want to use grasemonkey i have developed a Chrome Extensión to fix the links in a transparent way.

When you have installed the extension and try to access one of the old links it will detect it and redirect you to the new URL.

Yo can access to the Github repo here: https://github.com/SubniC/ddo-forum-redirector

Or direct download the CRX extension file from here: https://github.com/SubniC/ddo-forum-...r.crx?raw=true

If you are new to chrome extension instalation check this guide out: http://www.howtogeek.com/120743/how-...ome-web-store/

UPDATE: New version 0.3 released with more broken urls

    Hope this help!

    Best regards

Because it would be simple, effective, easy to implement and um... yeah I have no idea why they didn't do it. It's networking 101 for moving a url.
