And your so positive that it is a memorial are you?

Why cannot it be a Tribute to U of M football? Those colors are Yellow(maize) and Blue.

Maybe since you play DDO to escape the real world, maybe you should try not to bring the real world into the game.

Ever stop to think, I know - right, that these colors might just be for something based in DDO and have zero reference to whatever you want to bring to them from outside DDO.

Where was your nerdrage when the Netherese Legacy came out? I mean there must be some hidden meaning to purple and black we missed.

Until turbine tells us, oh wait they don't communicate we only have conjecture to decide on what is and isn't. It could be a Tribute to U of M football as you also think, and I would think the exact same thing. It has no business being in eberron inside of the ddo game.

My nerdrage for the colors of the Netherese Legacy are gone with the old account, so it is being expressed now with conjectures of real life situations not being made into pixels in ddo, I could actually care less about which "real life event" could be used, it would still have no business in game.

Now I ask the same, where is yours?

If it is a marathon memorial, +1 rep for Turbine. Quiet and tasteful and no BS statement that will P.O. a ton of people either way. *tips hat*

I don't think that it is, or is going to be tasteful.
Looks like a fundraiser event in the future perhaps.

No idea either - can't figure out where anything much is yet.
Add Shifters to playable races and I'll stop complaining. Probably.

Hit the Settings button at the top-right of the screen. Should show all rep there.

We could have ingame bonuses depending on how much we donate.
    For example:
Up to $10 a free silver daily dice roll and a “hero of Boston” tag.
$10 to $20 a free gold roll and a “superhero of Boston” tag.

usernameanon, Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson were not local to Eberron, either - and yet we have ingame memorials and items devoted to both. Yes, they created D&D. But, since Turbine created and is running DDO and is a Boston based company to boot - I have absolutely no issues with them including a memorial.

I don't know why we are still talking about this He of the Mighty Greenies has spoken So Hath He Said, So Shall it be.

Who is this “He of the Mighty Greenies”?
    And why does he matter?

    Why is that?

Lots of MMOs have shrines and memorials for people of one sort or another. Search around enough in Rift and there's a memorial for a guy one of the devs knew. /mourn at it or anything similar, and the guy shows up and either buffs you or kills you. (The guy the dev knew was a big fan of open world PvP.) WoW has a quest that was done for a make-a-wish foundation kid, and it has a quest with a little poem that's a memorial for a player, and a longish quest chain that's a, MHO stunningly touching, memorial for a dev's friend who died of cancer (the quest chain echoes the long sequence of "maybe THIS will work" treatments).

I've been told Turbine's in the Boston area. It's not implausible that they have friends or family who were injured, and it's pretty likely that some of the team know people who have friends or family who were injured or possibly killed. If they really did do a little in-game memorial for that, well, fine by me.

MMOs are not 100% about escapism. Like all creative works, they are partially there to let the creators express themselves. If they are in fact of the opinion that a memorial for a particular event is a good expression of something important to them... Fine by me. I am not going to complain that people are too passionate about their jobs.
    Yes, that seebs.

+1 Turbine. It's a fitting statement, in good taste.

No matter how much it gets argued about, nothing will stop someone from shadow humping the statue. Tragedy or not, I probably have a bigger problem with the "Buy Now" plastered everywhere than I do for a memorial.

    ^this.

If Turbine wants to memorialize a tragedy that occurred in their own back yard, in a game that they make and own, i have no problem with it, particularly as understated and unobtrusive as it is.

If it is a Marathon memorial, then so be it. Show some respect, as a fellow human being this is within your range of behavior to do.Granted while respect SHOULD be earned, can anyone say those who helped etc. at the tragedy do not DESERVE respect?!While I don't know them, I am human and would wish that if I was involved in a tragedy like that. People would show me the same.Always remember it is how you treat others, is how you are judged.

You have hit my top value dead on. I dont see people as different groups, I see everyone as a human being. any day something bad happens to any human it is a sad day for me. Unfortunately, in our world a lot of things happen, so there arent really days without anything happening, especially here in Israel.

I have my rules as to the shrines in DDO:
When I pass the Gary Gygax and the Dave Arneson shrines I always give them a minute, by /sit ing by the memorials, its the least I could do for people who shaped many years of my life.
Now I will proceed with the same in the market when I am not in a hurry, /sit ing by it for a minute.
