Default Is a spell resistance of 20 worthwhile at epic level content?

Pretty much what it says in the title. If I have access to an item with +20 spell resistance and an open slot for it is it worthwhile on my Dwarven Arti while running Epic (Normal/Hard) content?

Even on epic casual the mobs would auto-pass the SR check.
    Nope.

    Nope. Not even slightly useful.

30 Spell Resistance can be useful on some of the easier Epics on Normal and even Hard, but 20? Completely useless, sadly.

    Save the slot.

Just out of curiosity, which slot is it? We might be able to offer alternatives.

    http://ddowiki.com/page/Spell_Resistance

problem is, the calc is like the old AC

1d20+caster level+spell penetration bonuses VS Spell Resistance

I belive most casters on epic content are CR 40+ at least...
if cr = caster level, then they would have a base 40+ spell penetration (but this part can totaly be wrong :P)

Thanks for the info. It's on a cloak which also has +5 charisma which is also just a nice to have to get an extra bit of UMD.

At the moment I have deathblock, +20 rogue skills, Protection+5, striding, False Life, Heavy fortification, +6 stats and (I think) most of the neccesities covered. I was hoping to get some magic effect mitigation going.

Any ideas for a nice cloak?

If the Spell Resistance is something that appeals to you then I recommend looking into http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Epic_Phiarlan_Mirror_Cloak.

It does take a little grinding to get the Shard, Seal and Scroll, but it's House P Epics and honestly Epic's don't come much easier than those.

a resistance item ...something with superior parrying...gh... ,raising your saving throws is an effective way to protect against spells ...

movment can help against some spells like blocking los

sr of 30 in enorm works fairly well(you see the blue shield trigger alot)and pops off occasionly in ehard

Good question. What SR would work on EH/EE above 35? Is there even an item that goes that high or higher?

100-130 seems to be pretty nice for me.

Okay, I'll bite. How the hell do you even get 100-130 spell resistance?

Look at the epic versions of the Jeweled cloak to see if that'll meet your needs. The epic norm version should be much easier to get than the epic version of the House P Mirror cloak.

Look at the AH and see if there are any armors/shields that have "of Proofing" suffix that in conjunction with a cloak would be better than your current armor/shield and any easily gotten cloak.

Or if you don't already have one, a pale lavender might be enough to cover your magic mitigation needs. In which case, your cloak options open up.

Different sources of Spell Resistance don't stack.

Except for the ones that do...
