    Default 12 Monk / 8 Fighter or 20 Monk...

I'm trying to decide what build to TR my monk into. He is currently a halfling monk (from back when 1 more AC was a big deal). I plan on TRing into another monk. I love the monk playstyle. I'm not a big fan of ranged, so I'm not looking for a monkcher.

More self healing would be nice so I either need to be a HE with the cleric dilly or have high UMD (rogue / arti levels)

Any advice to help me choose between the builds? I'm leaning towards either the first or second.

    1) 20 Monk HE
    2) 12 Monk / 8 Fighter HE
    3) 12 Monk / 6 Fighter / 2 Paladin
    4) 12 Monk / 6 Fighter / 2 Rogue (race??)

The 12 Monk / 8 Fighter version is:

Use that one. Do a quick search for the "Emerald" build and modify it slightly for the current endgame.

The monk capstone isn't particularly impressive at endgame to my mind, I wouldnt be too interested in playing a pure monk for that reason alone (almost all my lives have had a monk splash).

Can't go wrong with a pure monk, really. The capstone is not "make or break" but it is still really good. 1 DC to Stunning Fist, QP, EiN, ToD, etc absolutely matters in EE content. Heal scrolls via cleric dilly make helf the obvious choice.

You also get the top tier stances. This is probably the reason my main monk is pure currently and not a fighter split. However, that appears to be changing with U18 / enh pass as you will be able to take monk stance tiers via feats (something those extra fighter levels provide plenty of ).

    2) 12 Monk / 8 Fighter HE
This is a good option. Classic fighter monk. More feats ftw.

    4) 12 Monk / 6 Fighter / 2 Rogue
This is a good fighter monk option and I probably prefer it to 12 / 8. However, change it to 12 monk / 7 fighter / 1 rogue. The rogue level would not be used for UMD, still go the helf route for cleric dilly/heal scrolls. However, it adds SA damage. Perhaps the more important factor on this split is that one extra level of fighter gives you haste boost 3 which is HUGE.

They are all decent splits though. Very viable monk builds.

I've never diluted one of my monks. I just can't bear to lose the top tier stuff like diamond soul.
